Avatar: The Legend Of Korra - Part 5

If they were to continue with the Avatar story, how do you think they should go about it?

It seems like theyve run the gamut already. We saw the origins of the Avatar, we saw an evil personification of the Avatar, weve seen psychotic villains, weve seen villains who want nothing but chaos, weve seen villains who want to bring order and conquer the world, weve seen the Spirit World, gone into the Spirit World, had sapphic action in the...wait...Im getting ahead of myself:oldrazz:

Anyway...

Are there any stories you can think of that can bring something new to the table?

A world war. We vaguely had one in ATLA. The Fire Nation had annihilated the Air Nomads, but the Water Tribes and Earth Kingdoms were only defensive. Now that the political landscape of the world is more complex and connected, a war between all 4 plus Republic City would be the greatest social and political event an Avatar faced.

I liked the finale, some nice moments all around, a fitting end for this series. And yes, I still want another one, but that's for another time.

Let me put my two cents in on this Korrasami ending.

[snip]

All I can say is that if you don't see it, it's because you're trying hard not to. If you take that moment in a vacuum, yeah, it's not really suggestive. However, it's the smoking gun when you put together all the other scenes these last 2 seasons that suggests the two have an (emotionally) intimate relationship.

Well...yes. I guess you haven't seen my earlier posts, that's fine. I'll refresh.

I believe there is plenty of room for more stories in the world of Avatar, to the point that I wrote a 66 chapter saga about it. I called my story, Avatar: Spirit of Earth.

While I won't go into spoiler details, I'll give you highlights. My Avatar is a 23 year old named Rey, who when he finds out he's the Avatar (at age 23), he wants nothing to do with it. He doesn't believe there's a need to have an Avatar. That story alone is worth exploring. There's also the inner turmoil of Rey's life that makes him a unique Avatar compared to Aang and Korra.

Then there's the overall story. It starts out light, as I build up the world of Spirit of Earth, but we soon find out that the Spirit World is starting to die, and it's directly tied into something that is happening in our world. Then, we find out there's a conspiracy going on to destroy the world (in big non-spoilery words), rebuild it, and do it all with the blessing of all five nations (non-benders included). Who is doing this, and how this is being done, is different than everything we've seen before in my opinion.

Oh, and did I mention said conspiracy makes the Avatar Public Enemy No.1? I didn't? My bad.

Spirit of Earth will feature a series long arc with the Spirits, which I think will make this truly unique. Also, a spirit named Swift joins Rey on Team Avatar, making him the first spirit to ever truly join the team.

I wrote this story after season 1 of LOK, and finished it right after season 2 finished. So there's some things that need to be tweaked. But, I firmly hold firm that this story could work, even with everything that's happened in Seasons 3 and 4, and I have ideas on how to make it work.

To further my desire to make this series a reality, I actually had an intro video made for Spirit of Earth. My hope is that if this video gets enough views, it might reach the ears of Mike and Bryan, then who knows? Did I mention it already has over 1000 views? Trust me, for me? That's epic.

So, the link is below to both the video and the story. I hope you'll check it out and let me know what you think. Let's not let Avatar die!

I stopped watching when that little thief kid joined the gang.

So you guys are telling me that Asami and Korra are lesbians? Interesting I guess but that seems to come out of nowhere even without seeing the episodes after that.

The Book 3 finale is a good stopping point. Book 4 had about 3 episodes (including Korra Alone!) that I liked and the rest...well, less said the better. The budget got cut and they made a past clips episode as one of the episodes, for example. I rank Book 4 last out of all the Korra books. Yes, worse IMO than Book 2. I found quite a bit to like in Book 2.

Didn't go beyond vague innuendo. Except in the minds of shippers who were making their porn on Tumblr for years. They just threw in the ultimate pandering (that's what these writers do best if they do anything) right at the very end.

Nice. Thatd be a hell of a thing to see. All the Nations battling each other in a free for all.

It would be, I have something similar in Spirit of Earth. Except it's more like two versions of the entire world fighting each other. And the spirits are there in force supporting one side. Something that they only possibly teased in LOK.

Thats pretty cool man. I like the idea of Spirits choosing to be evil. I dont think they ever did that in Avatar. Yeah they had Dark Spirits but they were only that way because of some internal strife or because of human crap. Once that was resolved they returned to being good. Id like to see a spirit outside of Vaatu that actively chose to do some nefarious **** because of whatever. Join up with an evil bender to **** **** up.

Id imagine something like.

Evil fire bender goes into restaurant ****s **** up, smacks the kufi off of some Earth bender loser, and takes the cash outta the register. He escapes from the police after scorching some nearby buildings.

All the while some Spirit is watching from the rooftops with a curious look to its face.

He meets up with the fire bender and is all, "I saw what you did back there. Destroying things, smacking kufis off of people heads..."

And the fire bender's like, "Yeah, what of it?"

Spirit's like, "Total badass **** breh. Lets team up. I wanna wreck **** too."

"Cool."

I have a lot of spirits in my story, and not all of them are bad...but not all of them are good. I really treated them like a society in how they talk, interact, and act when they're around each other. There are tiers of spirits in my Avatar story, and it really shows as time goes on. I really wanted to add another layer of dimension to the Spirit World and its inhabitants. And I think I did that with Spirit of Earth.

I hope you'll check it out Asgard, and let me know what you think! If you like it, please spread the word!

I immensely disagree with anyone who says this season fell flat or this series as a whole wasn't on part with ATLA. Both shows are just way too good. Brilliant, even. And despite the criticisms some people here have for it, I'm so happy to see such great write ups popping up all over the place.

The denial over the series' final scene is amusing and more than a little troubling.

Beautiful ending. Episode 7 of Book 4, Reunion, made things fairly clear.

An ok ending to a comparatively weak story season.

Think these guys have spent a bit too much time on Tumblr but whatever.

C'est la vie.

Except seasons 3 and 4 were being written and animated together, so whatever hints and winks and nudges the kids were going crazy about on Tumblr during season 3 was, in fact, intentional and now we have the conclusive proof of that.

That Korrasami thing just feels like something Steven Moffat would write.

I think it's incredible that this show can have a murder suicide on screen but two girls kissing would be too much.

Oh well, it was so poorly set up, I guess in a way this is appropriate.

Well, at least someone like the ending.

Eh, one great season. The rest... mixed. Though I suppose three was pretty good.

This season wasn't the best, but I felt like it returned to a more baseline quality like season one. Though better imo. I'd have to watch it again of course.

Season 2 was a tragedy outside of the Wan episodes, while season 3 was true quality.

Bi probably, unless Mako was just a beard, as I believe the term is.
Yeah, I am going with them both being into people.

Yeah, Korra's probably bi. Or maybe shes really lesbian and hadnt really worked out her sexuality yet. What is she on the show 17? Makes sense.

Who knows, maybe some years in the future the whole Korrasami thing doesnt work out and she ends up with the dude with the hair from Season one.

I'm a little late to the party as I just saw it. But wow! Ballsy to go there. Good for them.

I think this has been discussed earlier in this thread, but how about another time jump. Set in a highly advanced world where benders talents are no longer needed and there basically on the verge of extinction, people are losing there spirituality. Then up pops the new avatar that's been living in remotely somewhere like the Amazon or Himalayas. Kind of like a fish out of water, 2nd coming of the benders type thing. Haven't really thought passed that tbh. I think I might turn it into a fanfic project at some point.

Wow that finale. I really could not stop smiling throughout. I was like...

"Wouldn't it be funny if they.."
"There not going to are they..!?"
"There going to do it..!!!?!"
"There doing it...!!!"

Haha I loved it tbh.

I think the official Nick explanation will be "Korra chose friendship over love". Which is still a nice change to the conventional male/female hook up conclusion. But we all know better. Clearly a nod to Korrasami.

I'm still trying to process that ending. I'll start w/ the highlights and what I enjoyed.

- The fights were all Epic. The Stakes were high. When Asami's dad showed up I immediately thought, "Well at least one person is going to die now."

- Everyone coming together. I especially liked Beifong sisters working together.

- Korra. She kicked all kinds of ass.

What I didn't like/annoyed me.

- Wu's singing - Sounded awful and he never really bothered me before, but that was the worst for me.

- Pema. I've wanted to know about her for a while and I'm glad she was quiet now throughout this series. I could have done w/o her completely in the finale.

My only real complaint is we didn't get the resolution of the connection to the past Avatars. I was all but certain we'd see that this season and it felt wrong to me.
