Them getting the gauntlet wouldn't have mattered, as that would have been another one of those 14+ million possibilities that Doctor Strange saw and knew would end in defeat.

So leave Star Lord alone, what he did didn't matter in the grand scheme of things. Thanos had to get the gauntlet and do the snap so he could be defeated later. That is the 1 possibility that ends in victory.

Agreed. And that’s why Strange didn’t try to stop Quill when he went nuts about Gamora, unlike Tony who was all “WTF, Quill, stick to the plan!”.

Was I the only one who was impressed how well Wanda held her own against Proxima Midnight? And I'm glad she got the best of BW and Okoye... PM is other-level skilled and should be next to impossible for unpowered scrappers...

Eat your heart out Empire Strikes Back.

I just want to say, no blockbuster movie I've ever seen has ever had the balls to end like this. So dim and dark and depressing. Imagine there was an economic meltdown or major disaster and Marvel/Disney/Hollywood had to cease production on a sequel, and this is the note the MCU ended on... Sheesh.

And I 100% ate that **** up. Such an interesting thing to see. MY god did I love this film. I'll probably see it a few more times just this week. Every scene and every character interaction was something I was just extremely stoked on. There were imperfect jokes here and there, but nothing I'd consider even distracting.

Doctor Strange is probably my favorite and he was possibly the best-utilized. Good news for me considering I'd like to see 10 Doctor Strange films before this Marvel train ends.

Thor has never resonated majorly with me and he just blew me away the whole movie. His feats of strength are starting to really wow me, especially considering how blase he was in Thor 1.

Iron Man's arc from previous films continues in this and still manages to be emotionally captivating.

Captain America still stands strong as a beacon of morality and determination that everyone else has to strive to meet.

Spider-Man has successfully donned the mantle of "Stark's protege" and when RDJ is done I am more and more confident Holland could fill his shoes.

Black Panther facilitated the heroics of this entire film. Wakanda did more to protect earth than any single avenger (beside maybe Thor or Wanda's sacrifice).

Wanda and Vision's love felt real for the first time and I enjoyed watching it. And I think it can continue in future films successfully if they choose to do so.

And at times this film still kinda felt like a Guardians of the Galaxy film (and i mean that as a compliment).

Hulk kinda served his purpose, but hopefully he gets more time to shine in the sequel. And perhaps Widow, Falcon, Bucky (and of course Hawkeye) were under utilized, but I mostly understand why in each case.

And there was a childhood joy in all of it, even the edge of my seat or emotionally taxing stuff. Right up until it faded to black after Nick Fury's pager.

Way to go Marvel. Please keep wowwing me. I love this ****.

It's a masterpiece.

Now is the perfect time for Hawkeye to become Ronin. It’s sad, but take away his wife and kids. Ronin means a masterless samurai, which are essentially lost souls wandering looking for a cause. It would fit perfectly.

Nah. The perfect time would've been in another movie. Who wants to see Hawkeye as Ronin when it might be the last hurrah for the original team? It's like having Banner in the Hulkbuster when we want to see him as Hulk for an Avengers movie.

Leave that sort of stuff for small films in between.

Depends, if all the characters go back to their original interpretations or not.

I disagree. I think they tried to make the stakes very high in this movie and capitalize with the finger snap thing. Thanos wiping out half of the universe was the thing to avoid and it happened. Problem is that it was not believable.

Sure, a main Avenger might die in the next film, but I'm not talking about the next film.

Sure for us fans it's not believable as we know that most of the characters killed from the snap are going to get a sequel. But remember that the majority of GA probably don't know a thing about those sequel so the snap thing might be more believable and impactful for them

As far as Gamora is concern...no doubt she was a prop that serve the film well...i certainly had no problem with that...it worked, wonderfully if I may add. Her role as a prop for Thanos conflicting emotion is not much more different than Loki, whom sole purpose was to establish how manical, brutal, & merciless he is, in achieving his goal. Im not at all bothered about it & thought the interaction between the two, Gamora & Thanos was the most humanistic part of the film in a very strange way...because we are talking a war criminal, committing acts of genocide & abduction.

Maybe Gamora will turn into Death. She's dead but Thanos talks to her. Maybe she'll take Red Skull's hooded cloak to cover herself up while her body turns into a skeleton.

She actually fill that role from the comics...as far as the source of Thanos affection...well done by the writers if I may add.

This film literally shattered my expectation making my heart flood with so many various emotions of laughter, joy, sadness and amazingment. My hats off to the Russo Bros for once again raising the bar. I'm goodness these guys are just tremendous filmmakers.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier is the mega hit in phase 2 that blew up the MCU directed by the Russo's, Then in Captain America Civil War again these guys astonish the audience with how to break the Avengers from the inside even better than Ultron. Now in Infinity War, Thanos arrives and changes the stakes yet again. The payoff of having these Characters interact was sensational. I can't wait to see their conclusion in Avengers 4.

seen it sunday night needed a whole day to actually process what I saw

movie was Great 9.5 out 10 for me the -5 is for giving Thor his eye back didn't care for that

Thanos delivers and Brolin's voice was soothing yet menacing
Loved the different teams favorite was Thor, Groot and Rocket and whey they get to Wakanda at end it was EPIC AF

CAN'T BELIVE THEY DID THE FINGER SNAP didn't think they had it in them to do it

What if one of the heroes gets the gauntlet in Avengers 4 and tries to do a reverse finger snap but ends up killing the remaining other half of the universe instead?

Oh, and then he slips on a banana peel and breaks his neck :o

The only thing to believe about the effects of the snap is that it's a cliffhanger that will be reversed.

Otherwise Strange saying only this possibility leads to victory makes no sense. Victory doesn't mean just taking out Thanos. That would just be hollow revenge. Victory means un-doing the half universe wipe-out.

So I always took the wipe-out as a cliffhanger. It doesn't raise "is death permanent in the MCU" issues for me, because we know it will be un-done.

It's no different than Han Solo being shipped to Jabba at the end of Empire. When that happens you don't to go "but I liked him! why are they getting rid of him?" You go "ah cliffhanger."

Meanwhile there are permanent deaths in IW and there will be in A4.

...

I still wish they'd somehow bring back Quicksilver in A4. I want the siblings reunited.

They could bring him back and then as he runs, he disintegrates. That would really be leaving a trail of dust in his wake.

Just out of curiosity, who else either teared-up a little or flat-out cried (I sure as shoot did) when Spider-Man grabbed IM and faded away while delivering his dialogue? That was rough.

A lot of the audience would not see that coming.....

I think the audience has been through enough :funny:

It's up on youtube, and every time I re-watch that scene, my eyes get watery. I know as a fact he'll be back, but that scene is just so well acted. You see a kid afraid of death, it doesn't matter that he'll ultimately be back, his fear in that moment is rough.

Such an odd complaint to me. Characters aren't allowed to grow and change? Is there a rule that states he can never do anything about losing that eye? I thought it made for a fantastic moment in the film and allowed for some majorly cool cross franchise continuity. Who else but Rocket would have an eye lying around? LOL

Frankly having only one eye is a real disadvantage in battle and could likely get Thor killed against a foe like Thanos. At least it's a different color. It's not like he never lost it.

I thought I was the only one who liked Pietro. :yay:
