I had to explain to the group of people in the row behind me that one of the stones can turn back time, and that the surviving Avengers would use it in the next movie to bring back the dead. They were adults and angry. They had no idea going in that this was part ONE. And when I explained this to them....they did not jump up and down with joy that their favorite characters would return in a year. They were still mad. Don't misunderstand me....I liked the movie....I'm saying I saw a lot of people upset by it. I'm afraid a whole heck of a lot of people are going to be upset by it and it will get bad word of mouth and not much repeat business. I would like to be wrong about this....but not very optimistic about it.

People are dumb. There are movies coming out with Spiderman and Strange and the Guardians. Of course they're not dead.

I don't think there's anything they could have done better with this movie. I was pretty perfect for me, after just one viewing. Can't wait to see it again.

Yeah same feeling here. I'm frankly in awe of this film and think the references to this generation's ESB are spot on. I believe this film will age very well.

I think that's what they were going for, both financially and creatively. The huge heroic payoff will be in A4 (coupled with a few and franchise-impacting permadeaths).

That's exactly what they're going for. Because, you just know, in the third act of A4, we're going to get THAT scene, we're going to get the most EPIC awe inducing group shot in cinematic history, with the AVENGERS, SPIDERMAN, the GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY, DR. STRANGE, ANT-MAN...EVERYONE is going to be lined up behind a newly clean shaven Steve Rogers who, mark my words, people, will be rocking the classic chainmail suit from the comics. The whole universe will rally behind him as he screams "AVENGERS ASSEMBLE" as they charge at the mad titan one last time and the audience will lose their ****. It will be the biggest payoff in movie history.

I don't think they are dumb, just very invested audiences reacting on the spot.

And.....if they are not spending their days on the Hype....how do they know this?

LOL that's what I thought and why I thought they were so on the nose with the deaths. I mean come on - T'Challa and Spidey and practically every single Guardian? There's obviously more to this story. You don't check out now. But it was a fitting end to the movie because at that moment things seem very bleak for the characters remaining and the audience should feel that too. Plus it closes the arc for Thanos in that he achieved what we always wanted. The Russos said this was Thanos' movie and that's exactly what it was. A bold and brilliant move.

Walking out in anger? Being visibly upset? That's dumb. At least Google it first before getting all riled up. The GA is not this naive about comic book movies. Not after 10 years.

Something I don't get about Thanos's motivation that I'm thinking about. Why doesn't he use the infinity stones to create more food, resources so that people's demand is satisfied ? It's unnecessary to kill half the universe, unless he wants to.

One thing the stones don't do, is create. Nothing permanent, anyway. Even the effects of the reality stone fade when out of range. In his one monolog he says how resources are finite. So, without being able to create more, genocide is his only option.

And.....if they are not spending their days on the Hype....how do they know this?

Because these movies have been made for 10 years already. Because the marketing is everywhere.

I really, really, really, want this to happen... but it feels too good to be true... I don't want to get my hopes up.

Well, it's the first Marvel movie to end in such a manner. Maybe a small segment of adults would be angered by this, but I wouldn't put past a bigger number of kids really getting upset.

I would say that they are not equating A character dying in A movie the same as a favorite character they have seen in several movies dying. Someone may "get upset" that a character they have just been introduced to in the movie they are now watching for the first time dying....but will "get angry" that the character they have been watching in multiple movies over several years dies. I keep saying this....the general audience does not spend hours a day reading internet sites about their favorite superheroes. All the general audience knows about the superhero movie they are watching is what was in the last superhero movie they watched.

I think what I'm trying to say is... they need to get out more if that makes them angry/upset. People die. Circle of life and all that (I'm definitely on a Lion King kick today...) No one goes into a movie called Infinity WAR and expects everyone to live. People die in war.

Also, you'd have be living under a rock to not know there's another Avengers movie. Even my Nan knows.

More or less this! And Thanos might indeed devolve into the mad titan after the ordeal of sacrificing Gamora and everything else. Good chance Cap is (finally) calling for the avengers to assemble for the first and last time.

I need another of this shot in my life. Now i'm so glad they didn't kill off any OG Avengers lol

They'll figure it out.

I've waited 20+ years to see the "snap" from the Infinity Gauntlet in a big budget movie. That entire sequence gave me chills. It was almost like watching a horror movie.

G'dang it that movie was great.

Well done Marvel. You pretty much managed to keep the biggest cliffhanger in movie history a secret.

So, in the comics, they get the time stone and rewind the dead back to life?

There will be some who will be very angry that this was half a movie and not a full one. You’re absolutely right about that. There’s no indication from any of the marketing that this was part one of two.

I think it’s probably the best cliffhanger in movie history, personally, but then I’m invested.

C'mon, this isn't 1983. If people are really that upset and discussing it, the internet will tell them soon enough.

And honestly, if anyone's dumb enough to think they just permanently killed off Black Panther and Spider-Man, I don't know how to help them.

The "random little girl" was torn from her mother's arms and had the stones to walk up to Thanos. That's not a random little girl, that's a little girl with gumption. He admired that and took her under his wing. The movie makes that very clear, so is that what you're inquiring about? She also had some idea as to what was going on because she is clearly within earshot of the dying villagers and was, again, violently ripped from her mother's arms.

The movie making that clear is Thanos saying what he thinks.

Gumption would indeed be seeking him out after realizing her mother was taken. Thanos approaches her after she's shown asking for her mom. She didn't even walk up to him. There's a grunt that she nudged over slightly; grunt doesn't look back or anything.

Most people don't spend their time on the message boards. Levels of fandom, some are just fans they hear the movie is coming out so they go. They don't look too far ahead in the announcement list.

You have yet to state what it is you're asking or what point you're trying to make. It sounds like you have an issue with this sequence but you haven't explained what it is.
