But.....how much money does this movie lose because parents do not take little Johnny back to see it 3 or 4 times because he is upset by it?

If people (the general audience) had been plainly told this was PART ONE....they MAY not be as upset by it as I fear they are going to be.

I think that will be clear from the trailers and the promotion. If little Johnny was that upset about his favourite character biting the dust he will be even more exiting by the prospect of him returning. I have absolute faith in Marvel and their marketing that they have thought of this scenario.

The hell with what parents think or want. I had to endure the light hearted cheesefest that was Age of Ultron. This movie might not make its optimal revenue but im glad theyve taken the courageous decision to end it the way they did.

right! see, now that would be an appropriate rating, and parents would have been put on notice.

Nothing in the movie warranted that rating. I am the most squeamish person I know and I handled it fine. It wasn't Logan (which was 15 in my country and should absolutely have been an 18 - I spent the entire movie with my hands over my eyes. I barely know what happens in that film)

Well if the movie is good, then the worry about that part one is basically futile. I think the change of part 1 and 2 just means that the next Avengers movie won't have the name Infinity War. Basically everyone i know knows that the conflict won't be easily resolved in just 1 movie.

eh, whatever. We'll see soon if there's a backlash.

but: it's an R.

Parents are the ones who support the Marvel brand most though, buying merchandise for their children. At the end of the day, these are movies not just for fans, but for kids as well. Who do you think makes up most of the audience?

Disagree on AoU by the way :o

But I do agree the movie needed to end the way it did. It's a 2 part event, and Part 1 needed to set the stakes and the challenge. But I do think Marvel could have made the fact it was a 2 parter to non-fans more apparent.

My daughter was extremely excited to go see it. She even already had plans to go see it again Saturday with her cousins. After watching it last night....she doesn't want to go Saturday. And I did explain and have explained again that characters were going to die but would be brought back in the next movie. Knowing her favorite characters would be brought back in a year doesn't matter.....her favorites characters died....she is upset. I see a lot of kids reacting this way.

Wait are we really saying this should have been an R-rated movie? Lmao damn. Relax, guys.

It was well past time for Marvel to shake up the status quo. I get that this isn't going to be the most pleasant watch for kids (one dude next to me literally said "that was almost as hard to watch as Schindler's list" which I thought was funny) but this was long over-due. It's the 18th movie. Stakes have to be raised, characters have to die, and I think the overwhelming majority of people who saw this are going to be in line opening weekend next May.

oh kids. They're mostly adorable but sometimes their reaction is just annoying.

Kids aren't born sophisticated.

Kids are way more sophisticated than people give credit for. Back in my day, (the 80's) Kids' entertainment could be really dark with ambivalent endings and movies weren't afraid of making kids cry. We had 'Time Bandits' and 'Dark Crystal' and 'E.T.' and they were awesome and parents dealt with crying kids.

Everyone realizes, or figured out 5 minutes after the credits rolled, that A4 is gonna be the huge, hopeful answer to IW and all those crying kids and their parents will be BEATING DOWN THE DOORS to see it in theaters. It's gonna be insane. Well played, Marvel.

Which makes me appreciates Disney even more. They had the balls to do the unthinkable and for us fans and general audiences who aren't kids, this is their way of saying thank you for sticking with us for the past 10 years.

Maybe if they had shown a short teaser/trailer for avengers 4 in the after credits scene (like the teaser for avengers shown in the first avenger after credits scene in my theatre) it might have helped a bit ?

Something else I forgot, what the hell happened to Scarlet Witches accent?

It's been a gradual shift. I noticed her accent was slightly less harsh in CW. She's been on the run with Cap, Black Widow and Falcon for 2 years. I assume she's just adopted their accent and lost her own. It does happen (to everyone except Arnold Schwarzenegger apparently)

I was thinking about this earlier. We know these characters will be back but it’s the kids that really wont know. This film was quite balsy in that regard, for me personally it was as awesome to see the villain win. Even though I think things are playing out exactly as Dr Strange saw in his visions when the Avengers only won one scenario.

The fact that there was an after credit scene and it said THANOS WILL RETURN should really have been enough to clue people into the fact that this story is not over.

So is this Thor's best appearance in any movie ever? He was at the top of his game in Ragnarok, but they might've just outdone that which I did NOT expect!

Agreed. He kept saying "It was the only way" to Tony for a reason.

Wife and I have tickets for tomorrow night (Our 6th wedding anniversary lol)

Was sitting on the couch last night, popped on Fandango and found a single seat for a 9:15 showing (This was at 8:50), told my wife ‘Sorry honey, I gotta do this tonight as well’

Needless to say, I was BLOWN away with this movie. Met all expectations I had and I am DYING to know where they go with this in Avengers 4.

The 2.5 hours really did fly by, Thanos is hands down the best villain Marvel has done so far, such a complex character. Can’t wait to do it all over again tomorrow!

I'm genuinely sorry to hear that and I understand what you mean. But the thing is, I think Marvel NEEDED to make a film like this. We needed to have an "Empire Strikes Back," a film that raises the stakes and shows that, sometimes, the heroes lose.

IW ends on a note that, taken at face value, tells the audience that our heroes have lost but, come on, we know this isnt it and I would think there are a lot of kids and parents out there who know that this isnt the end.

At the end of the day, it's the film's brilliance that matter. Mad Max Fury Road made only 370 Million but is hailed as one of the best action movies of all time, a true modern masterpiece. Transfromer 4 made billions and people **** on it.

Didn't she dropped the accent in Civil War? (Not a native speaker so I accents are not my forte)

I can’t remember tbh been ages since I watched Civil War. Tbh it’s not something that I see as a problem just found it amusing.

Haha, as I said before I didn’t notice in Civil War. It does happen I suppose although there’s usually a hint of it. But as I said just thought it was was funny.

QUOTE=Flint Marko;36569171]I didn't notice that. But I guess she pulled a Halle Berry and dropped it :funny:[/QUOTE]
