And I think we have Waititi to thank 100% for that. This Thor is the one we got in Ragnarok, not the dull, Shakespearean, one dimensional character from every movie before that. He gave Thor a personality, which made him connect with the audience so much more. People now love him, so when he shows up in Wakanda, it’s the best moment of the movie.

I think the best scene in the movie (and best part) was the scene where Thanos got the Soul Stone. That scene had me on the edge of my seat, it was emotional, and my favorite easter egg, etc. It was just amazing.

I feel like the post credits scene creates more questions than answers, and I wasn't a fan.

This post credit scene was for one purpose and one purpose only... to let people know that a certain character is on the way... and it accomplished that.

The fact that you can genuinely feel some sympathy for Thanos when he realises what he has to do to Gamora is some really good writing and acting. Saldana did a great job of finally understanding how Thanos felt about her before he sacrifices her. Makes his actions all the more believable and nuanced.

Yep. That sequence was basically to put Captain Marvel over in the best way possible. She’s obviously going to be pivotal to A4, and a much more important character to the MCU than a lot of people first thought.

And coupled with gorgeous visuals and reintroducing the Red Skull as the soul stone's gatekeeper. Very well brought together scene.

Agreed. It was the best character building moment for him. I cannot say enough good things about that scene. That was a the world around you just kind of goes silent except for you and the movie type scene. Loved it

His new haircut help significantly, too. He now looks so badass. I couldn't take him seriously with his long-blonde hair.

I mean, come on, say you're one of these people who is so upset at the "deaths" that they start bad mouthing the movie (probably on social media). And then someone (because someone will) points out that there's a part two as well as all the other movies that are coming out (BP2, Guardians 3, Spiderman 2, etc). Would you not feel like a complete idiot? I would. And anyone reading those comments would.

Yeah, but you know its gonna happen.Lol.

Your prior posts were so all over the place about this sequence that if this was the point you were trying to make, you failed.

I've been trying to figure out this entire time why you asked a question that was plainly addressed by the film, and I had to do so by flat out saying after that aforementioned post of yours "you have yet to state what it is you're asking or what point you're trying to make."

It's at this point you say "I've been saying all this time that he just picks up a random girl" which, again, is not true as that's something addressed by the movie.

Avengers 4 ending predictions:

1.All Snap deaths are reversed. So is Gamoras death.I dont believe Gunn is doing Guardians without her.
2.Cap will die to reverse the Snap Deaths
3.Ironman will be the one to kill Thanos.its just fitting. The battle however will injure him so much he can never be Iron man again.
4.After Thanos defeat,Thor retires from Avenging and goes on to be king of New Asgard.
5.Banner joins Captain marvel's army Alphaflight.
6.Widow joins Nick furys secret organisation.
7.The rest of the old avengers retire

Yeah, totally. They reinvented the character for sure.

On a side note, I want to point out two things: Red Skull's revelation made me feel like a kid again. I can't exactly put into words why, but it was some old, unused feeling, I used to have when I was young watching this sort of stuff.

And the post credits scene teasing a new character felt like an old-school post credits scene from phase 1.

Oh, man. I'm so glad I managed to stay alive up to this point in my life.

I disagree. The world is more online now. Even if someone posts something on their Facebook page about how they're disappointed in the deaths, someone will correct them. It won't take long for everyone who is upset to know that a part two is coming out.

It's why these movies spend so much on marketing. Because people do pay attention.

I think you overestimate online fandom's influence (and numbers). Robert Orci, himself, told us on Trekmovie.com a few years back (around the time Into Darkness came out) that online fandom makes up roughly around 3-4% of the General Audience. But you can do the math, yourself, to get a rough (very rough) idea that proves Orci right.

For example: A company called Fizziology broke down the twitter reaction to the first Infinity War trailer as this:

Fizziology also revealed that the Infinity War trailer tops the list of trailers with the most Twitter mentions in the first seven hours of release. It even beat Star Wars: The Last Jedi:

Avengers: Infinity War (1,147,438)
Star Wars: The Last Jedi (784,360)
Fifty Shades of Grey (503,392)
Captain America: Civil War (426,015)
Black Panther (353,410)

1,147,438 mentions on a semi-international platform.

The rough estimate for how many Captain America: Civil War tickets (I use this because it was the last ensemble film) that sold in just America:

47,177,381 tickets (domestic box office gross divided by the average cost of a movie ticket in the US in 2016)

...Twitter mentions for IW after the first trailer only made up a little over 2.4% of the amount of tickets sold, just in the US, for CA:CW.

That’s not true. Just from talking to people at work today (who haven’t seen the movie yet) most of them had no idea there were going to be two movies. A few of them didn’t even realize the movie came out last night.

Just because more people are online, it doesn’t mean they’re following these films so closely.

Contrarily shown. Not sure what any of this had to do with a review thread.

I'm not overestimating online fandom. I think everyone is underestimating being online in general.

Your coworkers are anecdotal. Like I keep saying, if people are legitimately upset at the deaths in this movie, they'll be corrected soon enough. Especially if they care enough to be upset in the first place.

8. Spider-Man takes his rightful place at the centre of the MCU.

This film didn't always feel like an Avengers movie. It felt like a cross between GOTG, Thor Ragnarok, Dr Strange and a bit of Black Panther thrown in.

It also sometimes felt that the GOTG were more prominent than the Avengers throughout the film.

I think they could have included Super Giant with the Black Order. The Russos' explanation for not including her was for consolidation. But they had enough battles that they could have had her in one of the missions to retrieve a stone.

For the Time Stone, who was it? Ebony Maw and Black Dwarf?

Then for the Mind Stone it was Corvus Glaive and Proxima Midnight?

Thanos got the Soul Stone himself.

But they could've had Super Giant for the Reality Stone. Or maybe had her join in with the battle at the end in Wakanda.

Since they changed their powers anyway, it wouldn't have been duplicating their abilities. No-one had Super Giant's powers anyway. She would've been a great one to fight Scarlet Witch.

One thing that annoys me about some of the reviews I've read is this complaint that there are "too many characters".

I've never heard this complaint from other movies with "ensemble" casts.

As a non- Marvel comic books reader, I’m afraid the Black Order felt rather flat and one dimensional to me. They were just bog standard henchman, not really that much more well defined than the Chitauri. I would hope that the director’s cut (if there is one) will flesh them out a little more.

It's only ever ok with critics when the Coen Brothers do it.

Based on Stranges deal with Thanos I have the Feeling Iron Man ist the one, who gets killed to save the world.

They had individual looks and speaking roles, unlike the Chitauri, who were simply cannon fodder (like the aliens at the end of Infinity War in Wakanda).

They only need to be henchmen with no back story. They don't need to be any more defined than they were. Unless you'd like a Netflix series on how they came to be?

No, they’re really not. It’s basically the same point that C. Lee is making. Not everyone follows this stuff like we do, and it’s inevitable that people will show up and be upset at the ending because they don’t know the whole master plan. And even if they find out, it doesn’t mean they won’t be mad at the movie anymore. C. Lee even said that when he told the people in his theater that there was another movie coming, he was still a little ticked off.

It’s playing in a gazillion theaters right now. I have no doubt there are people who reacted the same way people did at his showing.
