AvX #2. It happened off panel but in one of the panels towards the latter half of the issue you see a downed Quicksilver stuck up with 20 or so of those darts Nemesis was firing.

I'll see if I can find a scan.

3rd panel.

thanks. Dang Pietro cant catch a break. They should have done a VS with Northstar

What's weird is that earlier that issue they imply Pietro slows down to mach 5 to punch Magneto, yet he's so slow he can get tagged countless times by a gun.

Bendis sucks.

Nevermind. If he was Flash he coulda vibrated through the darts. Pfft, pansy. :o

Yeah, I flipped through AvX: Vs. just to experience the sweet, sweet satisfaction of seeing Cap totally own Gambit with ease. :D

The fight was actually pretty good, until they ultimately jobbed Remy at the end.

I saw what you originally said, and it made sense. But wit all of the other inconsistencies throughout the event and Bendis' history of poor fight choreography, it wouldn't surprise me in the least if they hadn't even considered that.

Guy turned invisible, he shot his dumb ass anyway, and then when he's done shooting him, he's gonna punch him in the junk.

Heh, I love how Gambit fans keep calling it jobbing. Captain America should have taken Gambit down however you slice it. He's in a whole other class from Gambit. Maybe if Gambit were as ruthless as his New Son counterpart, I could see him pulling out a win. Short of that, Cap takes him every time. I was happy to see the comics reflect that, with Cap barely even paying attention for like 90% of the fight. :oldrazz: :cap: :oldrazz:

Oh, and to pile on the insults to Quicksilver, this week's Avengers vs. X-Men had Emma Frost casually taking him down with a mind-zap. Which, granted, makes sense, but it seems the guy really can't catch a break in this event.

Cap beating Gambit isn't jobbing. Cap KO'ing him with one punch most definitely is. Also, Cap should've been more effected by the mail exploding.

Yeah, I'm on the side that says that match was stupid. I don't think Captain America could stand a chance against Gambit but because he's CAPTAIN AMERICA he's going to win.

I assumed he tore the mail off before it exploded, like any sane person with virtually instantaneous reflexes would've. I'm not sure why a punch from Cap shouldn't take Gambit down, either. Gambit's certainly more powerful than Cap, sure, but Cap sort of specializes in taking down more powerful opponents. Gambit let Cap close the gap between them, placing them in close quarters, and Gambit, solid fighter though he may be, has literally no chance whatsoever against Cap there.

He could do something he's already done... charge the clothing. Charge a card and tuck it in Cap's belt. Chewing gum for God's sake. He's been in worse situations and easily got out of it.

So has Cap. I imagine if he kept doing that, Cap would just wind up decking him while naked instead. Plus, he has to get in close to do any of that charging, which is, again, Cap's forte. I like Gambit, but he usually breaks down to the type of fighter who charges a thing or two and then relies more heavily on his acrobatic and fighting skills. Cap has him totally outclassed on those last two things by far.

It didn't look to me that he ripped it off.

And while I agree Gambit will lose a majority of close quarter fights to Cap, one punch taking him down is a slap in the face. That's Hand ninja level durability right there.

Haha, fair enough. You can always go with the hardcore shield-bash from the Avengers vs. X-Men issue instead. That looked like it would've stunned the friggin' Hulk.

I can agree to that, though I don't think Gambit would have ever let it get to that point. Guy's massively experienced and talented. He has the ability to stand with the big dogs. I mean, when he's written well he's just an awesome fighter, and then peopel come and write him like just another character to get knocked around and it annoys me.

Man... I'm starting to get some DTL/Contest of Marvels flashbacks here.

Cap is not more acrobatic than Gambit.

By definition, he is.

It's tricky when it comes to hero vs. hero battles because both of them have generally been portrayed overcoming all kinds of wacky s*** they maybe shouldn't have in the past. But my usual thought is that Cap beats pretty much anyone in a hand-to-hand fistfight unless the other person has some kind of physical powers--super-strength, super-speed, enhanced durability, whatever. Cap's the best a normal human can possibly be, after all, and he's one of the best fighters in the world, hands down. He may not be as flashy as your typical ninja-types, but he gets the job done better than pretty much all of them.

I overlooked the acrobatic comment. Captain America is nowhere NEAR Gambit's acrobatic skills.
