Avengers vs. X-Men: 2012 Event - Part 1

My prediction?
I think Scarlet Witch is going to use the Phoenix's power via Hope to undo M-Day. The PF can immensely amplify ones powers and Hope can mimic mutant abilities. I think Wanda is gonna have her mimic her reality altering powers to extend its reach to every former mutant on the planet and reactivate their X-gene. I think Wanda is going to specifically seek her out bc she is desperate to redeem herself for what she did in HoM.

Cyclops and the X-men get what they wanted by having Hope being the messiah for all mutant kind but on the flipside, alot of evil mutants are now active again and they are going to have to deal with threats that went away. With mutantkind no longer a dying race, alot of mutants who seemingly pledge loyalty to him and Utopia will turn their backs on him bc they no longer need the safe haven.
Its a shame your not writing for Marvel because this is what I want to see.....

I thought Clops' eye beams only generated force....not heat.

Yet Cap's shield was smoking after he put Clops down!

Editing boo boo or has something changed??

Cyclops has the power to emit beams of energy from his eyes described as an "optic blast." The beams have the appearance of red light (i.e., electromagnetic radiation in a red wavelength); however, they do not give off heat and instead deliver concussive force without recoil. The beams are tremendously powerful and can be used to rupture steel plates and pulverize rock.
In addition varying the beam width, height, and intensity

Scott's optic blasts hit like they're solid objects. Cap most likely used his shield to try and deflect the beam, not absorb it, so he likely held it at an angle, which means that a portion of the beam traveled across the surface of the shield, creating friction and thus heat.

I thought it was a kinda fun, but immature, brawl issue. Both sides made snarky jabs at the other, some that were valid and others that just felt silly. I'm still on the X-men's side though. I just don't see the Avengers acting appropriately, rationally, or sensitively. But I suppose the same could be said about the X-men. Apparently Tony doesn't even know Hope's name and Wolverine is already going to kill Hope.

I can't believe people are upset by Cyclops' behaviour, but not about Wolverine. I know Wolverine has had to try and kill Jean a couple of times, but that doesn't justify his behaviour. He couldn't kill her during the original DPS, he stabbed her as they were heading toward the sun to spare her the pain - which actually released the phoenix in Jean... SAVING them - and he stabbed her multiple times in Endsong because the fragment in Jean was crazed from being resurrected unnaturally.

But he was way too eager to kill Hope now... I know he's not "attached" to her, but he's unnecessarily cold hearted. My favourite part was the ending, and it was the only part where the narration box felt well written.

like i sad the dialouge hurts the characters alot more. Like the helicarrier get smashed in by colossus and people trying to get off yet spider-woman decides at this moment when friends are in trouble to make a quip about how hellicarriers always crash. Thanks for sucking out any sense of drama bendis.

Wolverine's characterization as far as this is consistent. As you mentioned he's stabbed Jean a few times and he stabbed Rachel through the heart and lungs when she first had her Phoenix powers and she was about the same age as Hope is today

This issue was scripted by Aaron.

I just ordered the collected edition of Avengers vs X-Men on Amazon. After consulting the reading list, I realized there is no way I would be able to keep up with the story, especially since there are twelve issues in the main book (at least not without going broke.) I wonder how they are going to compile the Vs title and connected issues in their regular series (WATXM, Avengers, AA, etc.)

Cyclops is cheating! It looks like he is shooting Cap's ugh, you know man parts off

Yeah, it had some pretty lousy dialogue.

It wasn't as bad as issue 1 but it was still subpar to what Aaron is normally capable of. I wasn't bothered too much by the captions as others were although there was some slight overkill. The Storm/BP dialogue was awful. Marriage councilor...seriously? C'mon man.

The narration in this issue was kind of painful to me. This whole event is about superheroes punching each other over a misunderstanding (notice how often they use the word "believe"). There's no need to try and elevate it to the level of poetry with all that grave narration. "Irradiated muscles strain. Organic metal groans." Yeah, I get it, Red Hulk just punched Colossus. Move it along. :o

He don't work for DC no more either. After that double deuce he took on Superman and Wonder Woman, he needs to stay as far away from the big two as possible. :o

He brought more than just the Avengers with him. He had a SHIELD hellcarrier and at least a dozen fighter jets. I think he felt Cap should have arranged a private meeting with him to discuss the situation and work out the next plan of action together, not show up telling him what to do with an army to back him up. The approach Cap took was a more hostile one than he felt it needed to be

IA. JRJR's art is too simple. Previous big crossovers had much better art on the main series like Copiel on HoM, McNiven on CW, Yu on Secret Invasion, etc...

And like Cycke mentioned, Cap could have came with a few people to discuss the situation. You know, come in at the front door. Cap was ready to fight. Emma knew it. Cycke Knew it. "You went to the lunatic fringe first" Like, cycke was talking about Wolverine, no? Who tried to kill her. Assclown!

So the logical thing to do when someone shows up to fight is to fight?
