Avengers vs. X-Men: 2012 Event - Part 1

I actually can see a West Coast Avengers revival with half the members consisting of X-men and the other half being Avengers. They could relaunch it as X-Avengers or something like that

Don't give them any ideas!

They already have a West Coast Avengers team sort of brewing in Avengers Academy. I figure once Academy gets cancelled it will spin out of that with Pym and Tigra leading some of the students that graduated like Finesse or Reptil. They're already at the old WCA mansion, it would make sense.

Unlike other lower end Marvel titles, Avengers Academy has been remarkably stable at the low 20k range. Along with the critical acclaim, while it will eventually get cancelled, I don't see it happening soon.

Maybe not outright cancelled so much as relaunched

Hey I'm just sayin that clearly a shake-up is coming to the entire Marvel line and I doubt Academy is going to remain the same. The fact that it's made it this far is quite an accomplishment. I just think that there's going to be a renaming, rebranding or relaunching of some sort. My guess is a WC Avengery type book.

That and the fact that most big crossovers tend to lead to restructuring/relaunches. Its an easy way to put out a new #1 to get a temporary sales boost

Academy X... been done, right?
The X-Vengers....?

Wolvie changes it to "the Jean Grey School for, well..pretty much anybody"

Haha, Hank Pym and Wolverine's teaching styles clashing. That might be fun.

So, hey, anyone want to take bets on how long Wolverine's "I don't kill kids" thing will last? :funny:

Wolverine has no problem killing kids if he feels its necesary. He already tried to kill Hope.

Read WatXM this week. Personally, I'm glad for the change, since it rehumanizes Wolverine a bit from the mindless dickwad murderer he's become over the past decade or so, but I don't expect it to last very long. Most writers seem to embrace the mindless dickwad murderer characterization, as do, curiously, a lot of fans.

I did read WaTXM and it doesnt change the fact that he already tried to kill Hope in this arc

Well, yeah, it doesn't change that. But he decides that he won't henceforth kill anymore children in that issue. The previous attempt on Hope's life is in the past, before he came to that decision.

He also tried to kill Wiccan and any of the Young Avengers that got in his way. The only kids he won't kill are the ones at his school.

Wolverine's credo: Pay your tuition.....or DIIIIIIIIIIIIIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!

Something tells me that if Genesis were to get his Apocalypse memories and go back to creating Horseman and reclaiming his former power, he'd be singing a different tune

Yeah, I'm sure he'll forget this decision immediately whenever something else in kid form threatens anything. Hell, he might break his vow to not kill kids the next time the new Hellfire Club comes calling. I'm really not expecting it to last long, unfortunately, but it was a nice attempt to humanize Wolverine on Aaron's part.

The Hellfire kids...lol. I cant beleive the X-men get their azzes handed to them by a bunch of kids. Seriously they are alot more ruthless than alot of the adult villians they face. I actually wouldnt look too down upon any X-man that did try and kill them. I like them , but them being kids can only go so far. Im not even sure how the X-men should proceed to deal with them. This is actually a situation that I feel the Avengers should step in and have those kids are arrested and placed into custody. They are criminals and the explosion in Schism which nearly killed a bunch of humans was there fault. Its ridiculous that no one has intervened and they are just roaming around free

They're also rich and the heirs to massive corporations and such. Money and connections buy you a lot of leeway in this world.

Anyone else feel this crossover is dragging on? I think Im kinda over it and its gonna go until September. This break from the main series sure hasnt helped

Not really, it's almost halfway done. 12 issues double shipping is 6 months. Fear Itself was 7 and Secret Invasion was 7 or 8 I think. It's not really as long as past events.

If you ignored Children's Crusade, as I did, Wolverine hasn't really ever tried to kill kids that I can recall.

I'm telling you guys, just follow Remender and Aaron's work on wolvie, and he's actually a decent guy.

Events and anything written by Bendis do not factor into my thoughts about a character.
Otherwise I would Hate Captain America

It irritates me that Wolverine's first response to anything is "kill it 'til it's not a problem anymore," so the kids thing is just like icing on top of that. I'd kind of need a reboot all the way back to when Wolverine was embracing samurai traditions to actively combat his bloodlust before I'd have any interest in him again.

I dunno, I like where he's at now.
It gets tiresome reading about someone who's always torn and anguishing over who they are.
I dig his current personality, he basically just says "yeah, I'm good at killing, and some bad people need to be killed, but let's keep the kids outta harm's way"
Grumpy old Logan is more fun than emo samurai Logan
It's John McLane vs. Anakin Skywalker to me..

Remender and Aaron did do terrific work with him, then every other writer at Marvel effs it up.
