Does it really matter? I mean Marvel is pretty good about writing in pretty convenient emotions. Like anyone was really sad Sentry was gone. The next issue everyone was like "who?".

Namor would be missed way more than the Sentry ever would be. Hell, the Rocket Racer would be missed more than the Sentry.

I think I'd like that. I like Cyclops, but seeing Cyclops get a second chance and Jean without any of that baggage would be kind of awesome.

Yeah, I could dig it, especially if Jean's all, "Scott, you started with the best of intentions but things have spiraled beyond your control! You're part of the problem now, not the solution!" And she's all teary-eyed and s***.

Or, alternatively, smiling because now she gets revenge for his cheating on her with Emma.

It'd hardly be revenge. If Jean killed Scott, he'd probably just end up joining her in the White Hot Room along with all of the other Phoenix hosts.

I love how everyone has this fantasy of seeing Jean kill Emma when she comes back, even though she's been pretty supportive of Emma & Scott's relationship since she's been dead.

I don't know why people want to see Jean kill Emma in the first place. Her beef shouldn't be with Emma; everyone knows she's a **** and totally b****y enough to try to steal another woman's husband. Scott's the one who really committed the crime relative to Jean.

I doubt Jean would kill Scott or Emma no matter how corrupted they get from the Phoenix. That's not how Morrison really left it with those 3 but then again Marvel pretty much s**t on everything Grant did during his run so you never know...

In the scenario of Jean having to kill one of the 2 as the last members of the P5, I'd just rather it be Emma b/c I like Scott more.

Every writer who's touched those three since then have kept it pretty consistent. During Endsong, Jean had to calm down an aspect of herself/the Phoenix by reminding it that Scott should be with Emma instead of her/them. During Fraction's run, Jean's ghost appears to Emma to help her shake off the Red Queen's influence.

Well, I was kidding about the revenge thing. I didn't mean to start a tangent on it. The way I was actually thinking it'd go down, Jean would be killing Scott because he's corrupting the Phoenix Force, not the other way around. His views keep getting more extreme and more militant whenever he encounters any resistance to his plans, to the point that he's now essentially no better than Magneto at his worst. Xavier already sees it, but I don't think he'll have the power to stop Scott himself. So Jean steps in and rips the PF away to keep Scott from abusing it, probably taking Scott with it, and then the time-displaced Scott and Jean are free to get a second chance.

AvX however has been anything but consistent with past character portrayals. Anything that has come before has been thrown out the window to move this plot along as they go along, whether it makes sense or jives with how the characters would be acting or not

I can see the part about killing Cyclops to stop him from corrupting the Phoenix, but not the time displaced selves getting a 2nd chance, simply because the vibe I get from the modern Marvel powers that be is that they really don't like the Cyclops/Jean pairing. But with an event this messed up who knows what'll happen next.

I'm actually thinking Jean realizes the Phoenix Force is too dangerous, so the 'second chance' she gives Scott (and let's be honest, with the massive changes already taken place Warren, Bobby and Hank could all get 'second chances' too. They have in the past), thereby eradicating the Phoenix from Jean. I bet this new Jean will have no Phoenix connection.

So yeah, I kind of see Scott dying then being brought back. I see Namor (and possibly Emma) dying dead. Emma will return as a villain in time for X-Men: First Class 2.

I think it's kind of possible for Emma to become the full time Phoenix as well.

Just thought of something. Colossus convinced Cytorrak to take his powers away from Juggernaut b/c he got that power-up from the Serpent and Cytorrak is a jealous dude. Shouldn't Pete lose his too, now that he got the Phoenix power-up?

The only thing I'm pretty sure will happen is that Jean will be back by the end of this. Whether or not Scott will die in the process....well, we'll see I guess.

She may come back, but I'm pretty confident she won't stay. The only Jean we'll have is the time traveling 1960's one from the new Bendis title.

God, I can't wait for that... That's exactly what the fan-base have been calling out for, the original X-Men to be thrown forward in time.

I'm pretty sure it's been confirmed that Jean won't be returning in AvX. I think Tom Brevoort stated that a few times on his Formspring. As far as how AvX ends? I guess they will kill Emma, since the beans have more or less been spilled that Cyclops survives. I hope they don't kill Emma but most likely she will be a sacrifice to Cyclops so he can redeem himself in time for MarvelNow.
