The Walking Dead Aw, Hell Nah - IT'S THE T-DOG THREAD!

Yeah, that's how I feel. I wished there were more episodes in a season. I think we would have gotten more backstory if there were more episodes early on or if we had some flashbacks in webisodes.

In fact, I think it would be cool if they showed each of the core group members pre-zombie apocalypse right up to the point of devastation.

I don't know. There's one black character in the main group... wait, there were two, but the lady (don't remember her name) died, before she really could get any development.

So there's T-Dog... whose only real moment of characterization is lamenting the fact that he is the only black guy in the group (no one can accuse him of not being genre savvy). No backstory. No family. Nothing.

T-Dog, spends the next two seasons in the back, not doing anything of note. Practically an extra. Then he dies rather unceremoniously (his death is a minor footnote to Lori's).

Well, now we got a new black guy, let's see what they do with him.

I don't know if I would say his death was a footnote to Lori's. In fact I think most people would agree that the saddest moment of episode was his death, if not the whole series, maybe only second to Sophia's.

Yeah Lori had the whole dramatic dialogue with Carl and got to give her last speech but more people were happy that she died than T-Dog from what I've read.

Rick: Where's Lori and Carl!?

Glenn: T-Dog is dead.

Rick: ... So, where's Lori and Carl?

Well of course Rick would ask where they were. That's his family lol. You see Glen at least brought it up.

Not racism. Just that T-Dog's death is a minor event.

Even his death is treated dismissively.

Though I was sad that he died and had a feeling that his character was going to "bite the dust" soon. I feel the one positive thing that will come out of his death will be the "T-Dog bashing, complaining, & whining" will finally come to an end up here :woot:, hopefully. Though he was underdevoloped I had no issue with the character.

Now if only the T-Dog haters will stop whining about Tyreese.

I doubt that very much. Much like Otis and Dale getting memorial segments on the next episodes, that will likely be the case with Lori and T-Dog, although it might be 2 eppys from now since Rick might go ballistic in the prison next week.

If you saw the reaction to him on Talking Dead and fans of IronE lamenting his death on the 'net, if would be nuts for the writers to move on without an in-show honoring of such a beloved character. Gale Anne Hurd even hinted at a T-Dog origin flashback show in the future.

Yeah, they should do flashback webisodes for all the characters or a flashback episode for the main group highlighting 3-5 mins of their lives before the fallout.

Anyway, judging from all I've read and heard on the net T-Dog's death was way more memorable and epic than Lori's. Not saying her death wasn't, just everyone seems to be more sad T is gone than Lori and recall his death as the first thing about the episode.

Nobody actually bashed his head in. How do we know he's not a zombie in the next episode?

I agree with a lot of what you say here. Though I don't think his death was a footnote per se to Lori's but it was definitely overshadowed by her death. And it seemed to symbolize how T-Dog was treated on the show the whole time, always overshadowed by another character.

As for the new black guy, does he have a name yet? I hope they don't go and make him Tyrese.

Axel... I believe is his name

I'm glad he went out in style by saving Carol. I didn't want him to have a crappy death.

Looks like we got a very micro background info on T-Dog on this past episode. Apparently he use to drive a church van and used it to save Glenn at the begining of the Apocalypse.

Asian people go to church!?! :wow: What kind of alternate world is this show anyways?

Uh yeah, they have Korean and Chinese Christian churches all around. Maybe he is Muslim, seeing as that is the biggest religion in the world and very popular in Asia too. Or maybe T-Dog was just going around to a bunch of churches in the neighborhood.
