I think it would be funny if Shrek takes the domestic title. LOL
Its possible. Shrek 2 was the highest grossing film of 2004.

I also like the presumptious of the thread starter. Here only a few days and doesn't occur to him that this subject has been done to death.
I've seen the trailers for Shrek and Ratatouille and I have to say that I laughed more at the Shrek trailer. And even with Timberlake in it, I'd rather see it. Shrek usually has humor that's meant for adults and goes over the heads of kids. Pixar usually keeps their movies more kid friendly.
I think so too. However, we are on a comic book messageboard.True. I think people here are underestimating Shrek 3. As we get closer to the release date we'll see the hype.
I am not sure about this topic,i need to see an actual trailer for POTC3 first and full Transformers and Potter trailers before betting on either of these
Spidey all the way. POTC won't be even close.
Don't underestimate the teenage girls in love with Orlando Bloom and Johnny Depp
This summer we will find out who is in charge of this galaxy
Kids or Teenage Girls or Comic Book Fan Boys
Don't underestimate the teenage girls in love with Orlando Bloom and Johnny Depp. They made Backstreet Boys and *NSYNC best-selling performers.
I'm talking about quality.
Harry Potter is more popular overseas and usually takes the #1 worldwide box office. We've had...what...5 Harry Potter movies so far? Only one of them was #1 at the box office. So, I doubt the new one will magically be the biggest film of the year. Transformers has the `80s kids behind it but that doesn't mean anything.
um...we haven't even seen these movies yet! Don't get ahead of yourself, buddy.

Im not picking any side. Because there can be a movie or two that no one suspected to make money like last summers Prada movie.

I wouldn't be suprised if Potter comes in #4 or #5 this year domestically. But worldwide probably #1.
As long as they both deliever, they will both do good. Now if one does not deliever the goods (Like Superman Returns did not) it will fail.
I think the real loser of this competition however, will be Shrek 3...which is much more dependant on a young audience who will not be able to see 3 movies in the same month. Pirates and Spider-man have audiences outside of the young crowd...Shrek doesn't.
I think Shrek 3's advantage is that its light-hearted PG movie. Spidey 3 and POTC 3 are both dark. Soccer moms hate that! Lets not forget that Batman Returns got its ass wooped by Aladdin and Home Alone 2 cause it was dark. And, remember Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom? Soccer moms complained that it was too dark for kids and it hurt the films box office. I wouldn't be surprised if Spider-Man 3 suffered that. Parents may think its to dark for kids.
