So SYMBIOTE SPIDEY is a hero???

I just re-watched the cartoon and Symbiote Spidey even gave me the chills in some scenes... just imagine that live action- wow!

He is anything BUT a good guy as Symbiote Spider-Man.

Spidey is PG-13= TV14....

So I'd say wait to see how it all plays out... because we're obviously not going to convince each other to think one way or another on these matters.

People said the same thing about ROTS being effected by darkness, yet it never was...

It doesn't matter how it plays out and context of the story does not matter either. I am not saying it is bad from a story telling point of view. What I am saying is once the mass media finds out that SPIDER-MAN (Doesn't matter what he is wearing) is beating his girlfriend people like Bill O'Reilly and Rush Limbaugh will have a field day. That in effect will make parents question whether or not it is suitable for their children...which is a large market and necessary to Spidey's success. I don't know many 8 year olds who watch Heroes. An adult show on NBC. Your analogy is void because of that. Why is this going over your head?

1. Never really saw Heroes as an "adult" show, more of a "family" show like all other super hero related properties.
2. People said the same thing about Revenge of the Sith
3. By the end of the day, as many kids that saw ROTS will probably see SM3.
4. Parents will ask about context, and get "Peter goes bad, and when he's bad- kind of like a drug state, only it's called 'symbiote'- that's when that happens and he realizes that it is wrong to do." Then curious parents will probably go, "oh okay- I see... so it's 'bad' Peter that does that..."

I've even seen a lot of kids in 300!!!

So as I said, personally I don't see how they would make that big of a deal as you are stressing it to be. Will it come out and make some parents hesitant? Yes, same happened with ROTS no doubt about it. And the stress will be at the same point as well- news spread that Anakin killed children, etc. I remember that. But, in the end- most parents didn't seem to care. Will most parents stray away from SM3 because of a bad move by bad Peter? Highly doubt it. I think that's going above and beyond the possibilities-

But, that's just me...

^Oh damn, Bill O'Reilly.

That man is poison.

I've already addressed every argument you've made. Being as I have no interest in talking in circles we will simply have to agree to disagree.

I wouldn't say Heroes is strictly a family show, the episode i just saw had an attempted rape in which a guy forced himself between a teenage girls legs,a hooker seducing a congressman and the aforementioned teen waking up on a table with her chest ripped wide open.

In the end, it won't matter what any of us has to say. Internet community counts about what 10-15% of grossing? And maybe I'm even being generous. It will be what appeals the most despite what the quality of the movie is.

Here is why even though Spiderman is winning here, I still say Pirates will win

Superherohype has spoken, and Spiderman is the favorite of the two series, I conceed that, but this is a site dedicated to superhero movies, and most people on here prefer superhero movies over regular ones, I tend to also, just no against Pirates

but I still would be very very surprised if we where to ask everyone who is going to movies this summer, like the people going to both 300 and wild hogs this weekend, everyone who bought a ticket to ether movie would get asked, what are u looking forward to more, and I would be very surprised if Spiderman where the winner of the two

I think both are gunna do very well, both will kick ass, but I think the schedule, and wide appeal, and the favorite star character will make AWE the b.o. victor of the two, and give Harry Potter the best run for its money

Check IMDB. They had similar polls with Spiderman 3 winning.

The internet creates buzz. But in the end it's not what makes the money.

PG-13 material... never goes beyond that... I would say maybe 8 or 9 and up.

I'm pretty sure there was a couple TV sites that had it categorized as such... and said that families watched it together and things along that nature-

Alot of kids start watching R around 14 or 15, perhaps younger in some scenarios. I know that my parents started allowing me to watch R rated movies when I was 11 and some of my friends watched Rs way before that... so, maybe that's just the way I think because of that-

And Spidey is PG-13, not R... so that means a lot of parents will probably have not that big of a problem with it. Yeah, maybe lose some of the 6 and under... but, 7 and up- suitable.

But! How many moms dads, children and college kids, or any one over 24 vote on IMDB?

Like you said, and I agree, we represent generously 15 percent of the movie gowing public

thats why I would say if it where possible poll both the 300 crowd, and the Wild Hogs crowd, cause then you get a wide range of people who both are action driven, comedy driven, and then poll Zodiac crowd for people who are driven by story (not saying 300 doesn't have one, just Zodiac is one of the most thorough movies I have ever seen) but it isn't possible

but we will find out in what 4 months?

There is a spite for Pirates on these boards like no other open fourm weather that be online, or film club, or at my movie store or whatever, that I have been at with this much hate for Pirates, so I think the vote of preference is a bit of a aboration.

Both will do 320 plus domestic, I think Pirates will pull away in June when its competition is alot easier than Spidermans is, and it will be like Pirates 350 to Spiderman like 330ish

Just pointing out that there are other non comic boook messageboards outside of SHH, that still vote for Spiderman.

*cough cough snakes on a plane*

300= split down the middle, probably, and alot BOTH. Comic Book Fans mixed in with general audience. No way you'd get more POTC here- but, middle? Possibly.

Wild Hogs= More on Pirates side of things, some both. Just "fun."

Zodiac= More on Spider-Man side of things (hey, you brought up story:cwink: ), with some both and some neither.

As you said- it's going to be REALLY close between the two. Interesting film choices- because that is straight down the middle more or less.... 300 both, Zodiac Spidey, Wild Pirates.

Um, Matt- he just said the internet creates buzz (!TRUE!) as well as something I think you skimmed over- But in the end it's not what makes the money.

Everything creates buzz for a film, if there wasn't you wouldn't see movie websites, movie trailers online, internet exclusives such as on yahoo and etc. So, yes- the internet DOES creat buzz. It is one of the many venues of marketing a film. If the internet didn't create buzz, they wouldn't use it as a marketing tool-

And he said "in the end it's not what makes the money"- um, Snakes on a Plane reference... he mentioned that already.

A how do you know that they aren't comic book fans (that sounded really fanboyish of me, but whatever)

B they aren't saying Pirates is **** though, or at least most of them don't, they are just saying they like Spiderman better, which is where I am just reverse

From the internet crowd, the business will be equel, you've said it yourself, your not a fan of the franchise, especially DMC, but you are going to AWE, Tempest is a fan of the first and not the second, he is still going to AWE

even if that 15 percent thinks Spiderman is better, they are all going to see AWE so I think it almost makes it void ya know?

It really comes done to kids and family, cause first and foremost they are the one group that actually has money to see a movie over and over again

another point why i think Pirates will end up winning is like that kids and family will see it over and over again, but they will see spidey over again, difference?

Spidey comes out, during school, kids will not have the time to see a movie over and over again, and once they get out of school, they got Sherk, and Pirates

Pirates comes out, kids aren't in school, and the movies that follow are Oceans 13, FF2, and Die Hard, only FF2 can be considered a kids movie

and Tempest you know I think Pirates has one of the best fantasy stories ever, and I know you disagree, so we don't have to get into it, but i know you where trying to push some buttons with that wink:cwink:

Well what do you expect? It beat Superman, now it is a serious competitor to Spider-Man on a Super hero themed message board.

Most people (even comic book fans) didn't even know that this was based on the graphic novel (Which is also why we have all this ridiculous bullshyit about how this film was racist).

I've actually never stated who I said would come out. I'm just telling you the facts there.

I've kinda stayed out of this because I don't want to be one of those who carries the banner for a movie just to have it thrown back in my face.

Here's what I think: (Use this for future reference btw)

Spiderman 3 will have 2 weeks at the box office unchallenged.
Shrek 3 will come in and Spiderman will probably be #2.
Pirates 3 will come in and push Shrek 3 to #2.
Oceans will come in and push Pirates down to #2.

Who do I think will win the the year domestically? I think it will be Spiderman or Pirates. Do I have a favorite? Obviously Spiderman.

Potter however will probably be a 4th or even 5th domestically but will kick everyone's collective asses worldwide.

There you go.

We now how you think it has "hidden meaning" and "hidden depth" that you think critics who too dumb to pick up on. :cwink: But, I'm talking about actual meaning and depth... SM2 STRONG REVIEWS critics stating it to be one of the best superhero films with a GREAT story... Critics TRASHING POTC II.... Critics praising Zodiac.

Hmm..... :cwink: :oldrazz:

Already "depth", "symbolism", and "contrasts/paralllels" to SM3:

NOTE: CRITICS WILL MORE THAN LIKELY SAY AT LEAST ONE OF THE BELOW IN THEIR PRAISING REVIEWS:

Did you know that Spider-Man's main villain is his SUBCONSCIOUS? And that even Venom represents that?!!! Spider-Man fighting Venom is Spider-Man fighting a physical form of himself!:wow:

Did you know that the symbiote equates with someone addicted on a drug? And that the symbiote could symbolize drugs?!:wow:

Have you taken a look to see how parallel Peter's and Harry's journeys are?! They're both motivated by revenge against someone who "killed" an important 'father-figure' in their life. They both have the exact same journey and the same parallels!

Personally i agree w/ u on your point regarding spider-man...though u said Heroes is a "family" show....have u ever watched that show...it is hardly a family show...lets just take a moment and think about what happens in that show:
*Claire gets raped
*Claire continuously is getting hurt and heals herself (which in some cases are some of the most graphic scenes on television)
* self mutilation
*Issac shoots up (drug addict)
*Monique gets shot (graphic)
*Prostitution
*Sex
*Violence
*Language
*Gambling
And thats just what i can think of off the top of my head...if that is ur idea of a family show...than u have it twited...NBC dosen't even advertise it as a family show...more of a drama...

I call family shows shows that people watch as a family... that's my definition of "family" show. And yes, MANY people do watch it with their families.

Yes, it's dark- but it has been stated I forget where- I think TV.com- had it at one point listed as a show families watch...

And yes, I do watch the show and know that some of the content is mature- in the article it never listed ages of families- so I would say ten and up (but maybe that's just what I was allowed to watch (R at 11))...

And the rape scene was pushing the envelope of network TV chances are that changed some minds- or they just turned the channel during the rape scene... everything else is very typical PG-13... yes, even some of the more risque scenes (10 and up, often also below, watch James Bond= gambling, violence, language, etc.)

Note that is probably confusing people- I'm not implying families with kids 8 and under... but, 9, 10, above? All the usual PG-13.

i dunno about 10....mabey 12 or 13...there is definately a large maturity difference between a 10 yo and a 13 yo...

Well, I personally started watching R rated movies at 11- and that's harder than anything TV can throw at you... and I know many of my friends started also around there or before then- that's why I said 10 and up...

I think I watched Goldeneye for the first time when I was 8 or something-
