The Dark Knight Based On The Ledger Casting - Who Do You Think Will Be Cast As Dent?

Holy crap I didn't think about that...I pray that that does not happen!!!

Anybody but Jake Gyllenhaal

I think we'll be ok, he's really too young to play a high-powered district attorney...read back in the thread for more on that and who WOULD be good

Considering Gyllenhaal looks older than Phillipe I wouldnt count him out yet.
Besides it looks as though Nolan is going for younger actors.

Gyllenhaal has the ability, the look and that incredible instant sympathy.
He would make a great Dent, I dont care about all the jokes that would ensue.
That would only make more people go see it (like BBM).
There are a lot of people that want and see Dent younger.

Joe Pesci is one of my favorite actors but he’s only good at what he does best (mob movies) but just cause the penguin is a mob boss doesn’t mean he can play the role
I'd have to agree. When casting someone that cant act at all, like Pesci, the role must be exactly the same as the roles he has previously exhausted.
I'd rather not know what Penguin will be like in the movie as a character.
If they cast Pesci we will know exactly what we are getting.
I'd rather be left guessing at where the character might turn.

Meh...I don't want Gylenhaal.....Phillipe or Shreiber are better choices...

well...when i check on imdb about the film schedules of Schrieber and Phoenix for 2007.....they have a clean slate. So, I'm sure if Nolan is interested in having them as Dent/Two Face.....they will certainly listen. Also when looking up Phoenix at imdb....they have some cool photos of him Ledger hanging out at the a certain awards ceremony. I'm someone can get one of those pics of Phoenix and do a cool manip of him as Two Face.

Phillipe is a better choice? He has all the Con's of Gyllenhaal (the youth) with none of the benefits.

according to imdb.....Schrieber is juuuuust the right age to be portraying a big city hot shot D.A. He is a young looking 38.

I think the best possible choice for Dent right now is Joaquin Phoenix. He has the acting talent, the gravitas, and the right look for the part, and is a better package than many of the other nominees.

Liev Schreiber? Looks-wise is very fitting, but is a tad wooden and somewhat boring.

Jake Gyllenhaal? Ledger's been cast as Joker. No way this one works.

Ryan Phillipe? Sorry, but Dent needs to feel mature and have an intense masculinity and toughness to him.

So who are we left with? Joaquin Phoenix. He's in the right age range, he has the toughness factor, and he has the talent. Not a better pick out there right now, IMO.

He wasnt in Kate and Leopold.

Good point there.

Schreiber or Phoenix both are good choices and would bring good things to the table. Im glad that two actors such as them are in the runnings and we don't have to worry about a truley crappy actor being in there. However - Tommy Lee Jones is typically a good actor - but i'll just chalk that up to Schumacher's influence. The chicken pie, chicken poop analogy.

But what does that have to with anything? Phoenix wasn't in KATE AND LEOPOLD, either.

I don't really have issues with Schreiber, but I don't find him as arresting a choice as some make him out to be (though he does have the uncanny resemblance to Tim Sale's Dent in his favor). I'll put it this way - I'll be satisfied with Schreiber, but I'll be elated with Phoenix.

I think you and most people are looking at this all wrong, this is when batman is starting up, they're going to make Dent a young hot shot d.a who may of just got the position when the film begins

I mean he wasn't stiff and wooden in Kate and Leopold...his character was very different from Raymond Prentice Shaw.

I agree with your assesment! Phoenix is the best choice overall.

I'll just say if Nolan and producers choose actors like Phillipe or Lucas over Phoenix and Schrieber (especially since it seems like both their schedules are clear for the TDK shoot) then I will be greatly disappointed.

Yeah, I'm starting to agree, I just saw Ladder 49 and Walk The Line. He's a better actor than Liev. I could see either in the role but I think Nolan will pick Phoenix.

then if they go with a "young hot shot" then the role should go to Phoenix (32 yrs old)and NOT someone like Phillipe who is also 32.
