Batman: Arkham Asylum

Are you talking about the predator map in the sanitarium? You don't have to lure anybody. One guy always stands by a wall, another guy walks under the collapsible ceiling and hangs out there for a little while, and one guy walks over the collapsible floor on the other side at the same time. You just have to set the gel quickly, head to a gargoyle, and wait without doing anything to interrupt their normal routine right at the beginning.

It's the extreme one where the gargoyles are rigged to blow but yes, it is in the sanitarium.

So do you not take out anyone? You just do that to start?

Oh, I haven't played the extreme version yet. I don't know if it's the same, but yeah, on the regular version you can just gel everything up quickly at the start and wait. At least, that's how I remember getting that medal.

the extreme one is the only one where you have to take out the 3 thugs with the 3 different walls. On the regular version, the challenges are different.

Whelp, I beat the game last night, along with getting 100% of the riddler challenges. Here is a quick review now that I've played all the way through it.

The game itself is awesome, and is most definitely one of the best Batman games to be made, bar none. The fighting is simplistic but fun and the game length makes it so the fighting doesn't get too boring. The stealth aspect was handled well, I thought, as I normally hate stealth games.

My biggest gripe is what I've already said, most of the bosses either sucked or weren't even bosses. The final boss (which I won't spoil for Nollin Rollin assuming he ever reaches him) was pure crap. I mean what the heck!?! It didn't ruin the game as a whole, but the final boss was simpler to beat than earlier bosses, mostly boiled down to a thug brawl, and the idea of Joker doing that was just stupid. Oh, did I mention it was stupid. :whatever:

But the game is really fun and the story (other than the end) is fantastic. Listening to Riddler get busted by the cops after you get all the challenges was pure hilariousness. Plus hearing ont he police radio about Harvey Dent at the end was great.

I'm doing the challenges right now. I'm loving the stealth ones, but I'm still having a few issues getting a high enough score during the combat challenges....it'll just take more practice.

Oh and Hulk, after Joker used the Titan on Batman, Batman used the antidote on himself, so it was just Batman being too awesome for the Titan to take effect.

Do you think that this is a hint, that there maybe a sequel to this game? Meaning Harvey Dent/Two-face will be in it and maybe Catwoman, Penguin, Madhatter, and all of the other villains who weren't in this game. It would be cool if the next game would start out with you capturing Two-Face. I also, want to drive the bat-mobile in the next game, which they didn't let us do in this one because everything was already there, in Arkham, for you. I hope the next game is called Batman Escalation or something like that and you can explore the whole city of Gotham, not just Arkham. I also hope the comissioner uses the bat-signal to let me know if he needs me, and I can drive to meet him and see what's up, what news he has for me. I hope that i can stay in the Wayne manor, I hope that I get to see Alfred and more important characters like Lucious Fox and people like that. Anyways that's my theory on how the next game should be done. We are long ways from anything like that, though, just expressing my views. I can't talk though because I'm only 28% done with the game, so far, I have tons of Riddler maps and Joker teeth to pick up, along the way. I am at the part where Harley makes you fight a bunch of thugs, it never ends does it? I mean I've killed about 30 thugs and I'm still fighting them. How long did it take you guys to kill them and move on?

I think if they implemented any of that it would take away from what made Arkham Asylum so good. They dont need to get too expansive.

Considering it's doubtful that they'd go with Arkham yet again for the sequel, I think they should follow other stealth series which are level-based. Batman gets to explore the many different areas of Gotham, but it is still "secluded" albeit large.

Free-roam is out of the question, imo. I'd wager a great decrease in quality would happen if they try to focus on an open world. There's just too many things that would be unnecessary and a waste of space.

Exactly, what i've been trying to explain this whole time! Yeah I completely agree with you! You've got it! :cwink:

BTW, how was it like playing as the Joker, in story mode? Was it worth it? Was it fun? Should I even give it a try, or does gameplay become repetitive due to his lack of moves compared to all those great moves Batman has. So to whoever has played it as the Joker, how was it? Tell me.

Um, you can't. You can only play Joker in challenge mode.

Playing as the Joker is pretty fun. He has his own style of hand-to-hand which suits his personality and the fact that his gadgets work differently than Batman's in Predator Mode adds a layer of depth to the character. He's not just Batman reskinned.

I just beat the game on Hard a couple days ago and now I'm going through and collecting all the riddles. I have two of the buildings cleared and just have the caves, Gardens, and the outsides to clear out. It would have been nice if the environment would have changed after beating the game. Guards actively roaming around, prisoners back in their cells, Ivy back in her cell on the Green Mile, etc. This would give a sense of things being accomplished and "back to normal, Batman's won".

I took at as the authorities have transferred all the prisoners to other facilities pending investigation......most of the guards were killed

At the end, though they show a lot of guards rounding up prisoners, transferring Ivy back into her cell, Joker strapped down, et cetera. Are you telling me that they would have transferred prisoners to other facilities before collecting the dead bodies of their fallen comrades?

I don't want to be a nit-picker, but Ivy not being in her cell post-credits is a continuity error. I kind of liked seeing Harley locked up after chasing her for the first three hours of the game.

you are being a nit picker....let it go or write a tersely worded note to the developers

I take back what I said earlier in the thread, PhysX is used quite heavily.
Don't like the Bane or Scarecrow models, Poison Ivy looked really good though.

Your being ridiculous. if you wanna nit pick like that you might as well ask why is batman STILL on the island when he justleft to go stop a bank robbery??

the only reason u can run around post credits is for the riddle. the story is over.

I know Im a bit behind on his one, but I cant believe how amazing the new maps are...So much fun

Yea im with you. Being able to play after you have finished the game has nothing to do with the story. Some ppl just really love to reach for something to harp on.

What I love about this game is, when your playing you not only feel like your batman, but you do things in it that almost make you forget batman is still human, you almost feel like he has powers but he doesn't.

Has there been any announcement of additional DLC besides the new "insane" map pack for online?

Ok guys, I actually need a bit of advise. How did you guys blow up three guys with three different walls? I have tried and tried different methods, but no matter what I do I only seem to be able to get two crooks at a time while missing the third.

It's very frustrating. :p

Also, I suck at combat challenges.

Is that the one where you have to take out that guy with a line launch through the glass?

The easiest way and actually my best score was as soon as the challenge starts you position yourself parallel to that guy who walks back and forth between the elevator and that room. Line launch through it and take him out (you're get the medal for that) and quickly hop out the window and on top of that room.

You'll start having people at least 3 race towards that room. While they are on their way, use two (2) of the gels on the ceiling. (You will have to use two (2) to get the medal even though one gel would suffice). Then line launch to the other side where the other wall is that has a guy stationed there and do another gel which will be your third. When the 3 guys are checking out the first guy you took out and the guard is next to the other wall, detonate the gels.

That should take out 4 guards leaving you one more that you can just find a position to glide down and take out giving you the final medal.

I already posted this but I'm guessing this is the one you are talking about. If you can get past the first part, you are golden. That was the trickiest part because you have to time that just right.

Didn't you have to blow 3 different walls? That's what I did for one of the challanges.

My lord, why didn't I think of this. I've been surprisingly good at the predetor challenges so far...but this one alluded me.

I kept trying to use the two breakable floor areas and find a way to time them all standing on them. My way was horrible horrible horrible and never worked. :p
