Batman: Arkham Asylum

My thoughts exactly.

Give us a take over of Wayne Industries. That building is large enough that it could work very much like AA did.

Yea, or give us an area of Gotham that has been blocked off for whatever reason. Arkham Asylum worked, no need to change that formula.

Wayne Industries would be perfect, plus it was already seen in AA. There would be alot of rooms and even we the players would get a look inside Bruce's office which could be cool. Not to mention there'd be a view of Gotham from inside windows or even the very top of the roof where a final boss mission could happen.

There could even be a connection from AA in which since you saw WI from outside the Asylum, you could see the Asylum from the very top of the Wayne building.

I think the game would need to be a little larger than one tower tho. Maybe have like that block of Gotham blocked off by police as Two Face has threatened to set a bomb off or something like that.

Who cares. Geo's point still stands.

We should get a Batman game set in Gotham. The survival horror-esque gameplay is going to get old.

They need to add more between missions. There was nothing besides getting trophies (which were a limited number until you have everything). The AA formula is good but there is a lot of room for improvement.

I have two ideas they could use for the sequel... Either have the game take place between Wayne Manor and Wayne Tower, and have the two connected via an extended batcave beneath ground (It wouldn't be too hard to believe Bats had that anyway, would it? How else would he get his prototypes from work to home :P)

My other idea would be to have the story about Gotham being under siege, but the villains have only taken a few locations over as their base of operations, so you could switch between the various locations, such as Wayne Tower (Which could be the main place, over run by Two Face, Ra's perhaps, etc), Gotham Museum, (Penguin, Catwoman, Mad Hatter) and I'm not sure where else... A chemical plants? Somewhere for Mr Freeze to take over, which would be really cool... I think having him as the one super powered villain would be cool though...

And to travel between the two, we just need an excuse as to why Batman can't walk at street level, maybe fear toxin or something, so he travels via rooftop between the locations, then Rocksteady can just have an awesome rooftop playground set up between the locations, that seems 'free-roamy', with riddles spread around, but its actually a set area, like the arkham gardens.

You can't really have the awesome Metroid style 'go back and find new areas with your new gadgets' gameplay in a full fledged city either.

Wayne Industries would be ok, but I can't see it having the diversity that Arkham had in the level design. I hope Rocksteady has a good idea for the sequel, because I can't really think of one.

I really dislike constant cutscenes in games, I think the introduction going down the corridor with the scripted sequences such as killer croc coming out the elevator was terrific, much more involving than the on flow of cutscenes afterwords.

I have a spare steam copy if anyone (regular poster) wants it.

It could take part in a dilapidated and crumbling part of Gotham city that has largely been abandoned by the police/government.

I could see taking Batman across an urban decrepit landscape as something that could still incorporate the exploration/stealth gameplay.

Yeah they can make it like No Man's Land

I think the entire City is too large in scope for the sequel. I wouldn't mind if they stuck to one specific location like the Narrows from Begins or even Blackgate Isle (home to Blackgate Maximum Security Penitentiary).

Batman: Blackgate coming soon to PS3, XBox 360 and PC. I don't know, the "inmates taking over the prison" might get stale after a while. I'd like to see a Wayne Tower game myself.

I hope Two Face is the main villian in the sequel. I'd love to see Richard Moll take over as the voice for Two Face again

I'd like to see the villains taking over certain locations. Then it's up to Bats to save each area.

There were a few Two-Face references in Arkham Asylum so I think they are hinting that he'll be a boss (if not the main boss) in the sequel.

Do they call it Arkham Asylum 2 or go with a different name? With all the crap Batman games with different names in the past that could be a bad idea.

Are there gargoyles in Wayne Tower?

Ace, how can you say Just Cause 2 was bad when it hasn't come out yet?

Okay, i'm just copy and pasting my previous ideas, because no one paid any attention to them lol

I think if you just slap Batman's name on anything these days, people will eat it up.

My ****ing word someone didn't get enough hugs as a child.

I know I'm behind the curve, but the demo is still addictive, if played every once in awhile. I love restarting the last part once I finish the thugs, I like trying out different strategies.

One of them is to pull a Naked Snake and just sneak around. I am 1-0 for this style, but it is one of the least satisfying. The cons of gargoyle hopping (feeling cheap) can't beat out the pros (moves like glide kick, hang, inverted takedown, taking out a thug with a thug you hung before). I particularly hate swinging to a gargoyle, and even though I almost smacked a dude in the face with the end of my cape, he doesn't notice. WTF???

Another I have been using more often, is using the gargoyles, but not the x-ray vision. Like many reviews have stated, I think it takes away from all the hard work the artists and animators put into the game. But it does make the riddler things easier to find. I found the one at the beginning of the demo just today by turning it on after I took out the 2nd wave of goons. Back to the style, I like it because, again, it doesn't make me look cheap. Yet it is still exciting, because I can use all the gargoyle related moves.

Using Batman's entire arsenal is awesome, no need to explain why. But it makes Bruce a bit too godly, since he knows where everyone is, and also how scared they are.:csad:

One I just tried to mix it up is the "loud" style. Gargoyles and batarangs are ok, but no silent takedowns, and no ground takedowns. I like stealth so I'd never try this otherwise, but I just wanted to see if I could get a perfect in 3 tries. That was a HELL NO. It takes way too many hits to take out an enemy, but it's sure as hell fun to try, you feel like Rambo.:woot: I'm gonna experiment in a bit how many glide kicks to the face equal a KO. I'm putting money on 4.

Oh, and I have some questions for those who have beaten the game.

1) Do the thugs become more aware as the game goes on, or at least on the harder difficulties? When it comes to Bats swinging around like he's starring in Bionic Commando, I mean.

2) Is the combat way more satisfying when the lightning bolts are turned off, and are they optional on the easier difficulties?

3) Is the final boss really as lame as GI says?

4) I am the playing the demo right now, and for the first time, I took out one guy loudly and the other 4 got into a "squad", thus checking me for a solid couple minutes. But eventually I just decided to glide kick in and break some jaws. I got shot up, but nothing is more epic than swooping in on 4 guys with AKs, and actually winning. Except not getting hit and doing that.:hehe: My question is, are the routes of the thugs dynamic like the one guy said in the first predator challenge video?

5) Is a gargoyle-free walkthrough possible? If not, does the stealth mostly feel strategic, and not cheap, since Batman can pop back up the the ceiling and move to the other side of the room if he gets in trouble? Maybe the garoyles aren't so generous in the actual game?

6) Without searching for Riddlers' clues, how long is the first playthrough? With?

7) What is the # of alternate costumes that come with AA, if you didn't pre-order?

5) A sequel that is similar in concept but set in a new area sounds like gold, but if it could be guaranteed that a polished, AC2-type game could also be made (90% of missions would be indoors, Batmobile/Batcycle/Batboat would be available, Gotham would be as big as SM2 NYC), what would you choose? I would have to choose the latter, since they could copy and paste the gameplay from the first, and then maybe whoo some key members of the GTA development team so the open-world aspect would work just as well.
