Batman: Arkham Origins - Part 4

I guess some are just missing the attachment of a certain voice actor to the characters. We had Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill for the better part of 15 years.

What worries me is the brief mention of Batman: Assault on Arkham in this article:

Miereanu noted [Jason] O’Mara is excited for fans to see Batman: Assault on Arkham.

Now, I hope that's a mistake/typo on the writers part... but how starnge would it be to have O'Mara voice Batman in the animated feature.

I mean are we going to have THREE different voice actors for the SAME version of the character?

- Rocksteady Games: Kevin Conroy
- WB Games Montreal: Roger Craig Smith
- DC Universe Movies: Jason O'Mara

Seems a tad excessive... but like I said, I hope it's just a mistake and Conroy does the movie.

Wow that's a thick looking strategy guide.

I’m glad we’re seeing obscure, less used villains here. The AA character profiles got my imagination going, with the likes of Prometheus, Great White Shark, Firefly, Black Mask, Ratcatcher, etc. What they would look like in an actual game. And I think they show off how deep the Arkham universe is.

Great White could provide a similar boss battle to Croc in the first game. :D I notice Anarky is not on the list, do you still fight him in the game even though he starts out thinking he's on the same side as Batman?

I'm pretty sure we have confrontation with Anarky

I am happy there is going to (hopefully) be a confrontation. Anarky is *****e in the comics, and it is going to be awesome to finally beat the snot out of an avatar of him.

Loved the Electrocutioner trailer!

I think there a few characters you fight that are not technically assassins so they're not on the list.

I think Anarky is a side mission, you can take him on later if you wish.

I believe it is a mistake. I was at the DC Justice League panel where they introduced Jason O'Mara. He spoke, and was actually pretty funny and kinda charming with how aware he seemed about Kevin Conroy's stature with fans.

They mentioned that there would be an Arkhamverse animated movie, but they didn't say O'Mara would be in it. They didn't mention Conroy or Smith, either. Just that the animated movie would be tied to the game universe.

At the panel, they insinuated that O'Mara would become a regular Batman voice, but I got the sense that was because they are planning to make a series of 52-related animated films. So, the way they seemed to set it up at the NYCC panel this year, it sounds like O'Mara will be the 52-animated Batman voice from now on.

Pretty sure that article is a mistake, with what I saw and heard the NYCC panel this weekend.

I am anticipating any form of news about Assault on Arkham. I'd prefer to see an original story - but even if it's a recount of AA/AC - I'm excited.

I think the remaining assassins will be Lady Shiva and Prometheus. The latter could be really interesting, given the state of the Gotham police force in Origins. Promethus *hates* the police. As a bio states:

A dark reflection of Batman, Prometheus was raised by criminals who were gunned down by policemen right in front of him. Dedicating his life to destroying the law, Prometheus traveled the world and trained in the ways of murder. Clad in an armored suit that maximizes his natural skills, he is a master assassin whose physical and mental abilities rival Batman's own. Currently active as a costumed criminal, Prometheus possesses a pathological need to kill enforcers of the law, whether police officers, vigilantes, or super heroes.

Maybe David Cain? It would make sense for him to be in as he's the one that trained Batman which could lead to some interesting dialogue.

The hopeful part in me wants Killer Moth. :oldrazz:

Wasn't Branden mentioned as one of the people that wanted to cash in on Black Mask's bounty? If show, wouldn't that make him and his SWAT squad the eight assassin?

No he's third party and doesn't count he's a crooked cop and nothing more.

This is the next animated DC movie after WAR, right? adapting these games to movies wouldn't have been my first choice but if it is original story then that would be cool.

Prometheus sounds like he'd be a good villain for the upcoming Jim Gordon series.

Well he offers a few design options at least! :D

The problem is Killer Moth works best as a joke villain - like in Batgirl: Year One in which he is initially defeated by foreclosure on his rented warehouse.

The Arkham games have done plenty of serious and gritty villains, but it does feel like it's missing the more comedic element of the occasional wannabe, like Dini's Detective Comics run featured. But I doubt that they would take that route.

Well this is what Killer Moth looks like in the "Batman: Zero Year" cross-over event:

Personally i hope the last assassin is another women. 3 women and 5 men would be a good balance, would have preferred 4/4 but hey, what can you do?

Has there been much mention of riddler challenges? I'd love to see them more like Arkham Aslyum this time around. The ones based on Batman lore that were actual environmental puzzles were so much better than the silly games etc. I'd love more detective/problem solving type riddles.

My guess is, it'll have Conroy in it and be tied into the next Rocksteady game.

The fact that it's not being released anywhere near Arkham Origins has me thinking it'll have to coincide with the Rocksteady game. And we know the Rocksteady game is going to have Conroy in it. Having the animated film come out with the next Rocksteady game fits in as part of the current trans-media trend we're seeing nowadays. I doubt it'll be a retelling, it'll probably be an bridging of a gap or prequel to the game's story or something. Usually, that's the way they get people interested in it who've already devoured the previous stuff.

That's pretty much what I had in mind. His design in the first game's bio was actually pretty good. Just translate that into the game and have him as a starter boss, before the far more difficult and challenging ones.

Oh god, what the hell?! Well, at least they didn't make him a giant cannibal mutant moth again. :oldrazz:

What would you guys think of Ratcatcher as an assassin? He has the potential to be creepy, his ability to manipulate swarms of rats could make for a unique obstacle, and they could make his battle very claustrophobic in the sewers. Not to mention he is killed off before Arkham City, so he'd kinda need to be in a prequel game.
