Batman: Arkham Origins - Part 4

That's PS3-specific, I believe, so pre-ordering a PS3 copy from anywhere should work.

^ The problem is that, at least in the E3 footage, we were in downtown Gotham. The downtown of a major city is very often the most crowded area. Many people in cities like NY even celebrate Christmas downtown.

Well said.

Is it possible that Black Mask's hit on Batman (attracting the worlds most amazing assassins) is public knowledge, leaving only bad guys and cops outside? Maybe that could just be another factor in emptying the streets. How they continue to do this in future games I have no idea.

Wbm never said that. They just said that the public is indoors due to a major storm &it being Christmas eve and it's the assassin's black mask hired and a corrupt police force and Gorden and a few decent cops under him. That's about it.

I don't find that too unbelievable. I mean, these people live in Gotham f***ing City, after all. I like to think if you're dumb enough to live there, you're at least smart enough to stay the hell inside as much as possible, away from all the crazy villains and the astronomical crime rate on the streets.

or if your stuck there cause you can't afford to leave for some reason or another or til you are able to, stay inside. But yeah if you're a normal smart person that's not a part of that crime wave or fighting against it ,that's what you'd do. And if there's a freak snow storm and you are still heading out side have fun then . Lol you only do that for emergencies like saving a family member to risk a system not cause you to celebrate time square. That like to see people do in that during a hurricane season near Florida.

Yeah. What's the point of being in Gotham City if there are no civilians around? I don't care if they think that a snowstorm is a good excuse or not, to not have reporters, kids, the occasional socialite, last-second spender around, etc, is not just freaking stupid on the part of the developer, it misses a long-time-coming need to flesh out Gotham beyond just the criminals and heroes. We got a small taste of that with Vicki Vale in AC, but I'll be frankly angry if there isn't at least a noticeable civilian presence in the city. One of the things that made BTAS so great was that, despite budget limitations, they still managed to have the occasional traffic, civilians, doctors, Vicki Vale, Veronica Vreeland, Lucius Fox, and a host of others pop up occasionally.

I'mm fine with no civilians in this. But since it's pretty much a given that next game will be on next gen systems, I'm fully expecting a more detailed and interactive Gotham.

I know it's a generally minority opinion in gaming, but I vastly prefer a shorter game if it means the world is more fleshed out. Even if the streets are empty, which never happens in real life, not even in snow storms, then there had better be civilians inside the buildings beyond just kidnap victims.

How cool would it be if a mission required you to walk into a Christmas reception that many of Gotham's elite is going to, and deduce as Bruce Wayne a mystery of some sort of find some information?

The presence of civilians will have no bearing on my enjoyment of this game. There'll probably be a few here or there, people getting mugged and the like.

My problem is that you can't sell the cake and eat it too. Want an open world narrative in a city? Sure, but you damn well better be prepared to show the goings-on of a city and not just make it bloody empty.

Snowstorm in christmas eve, in Gotham? For sure most civilians will stay in their houses!

Can I beat up civilians? No, than I could careless if they're there or not.

Also watching videos. Batman is definitely faster in combat than in the previous games

I think it's more that he's got a lighter suit also his fighting technic is raw with no fines as he he later come to have.

Lighter suit? Seriously? It looks like it would weigh twice, nay, 3 times as much as the Asylum suit.

Id say its the fact that he is younger, more nimble, less wear and tear on the body. Which is a great idea, also looks like the punches are harder hitting, I Know they techinically do the same amount of damage but they look more beefy and powerful

The Batsuit looks like TDK one. I like WBM's version of the suit but the ears seem small.

Yeah, very much so.

The back of the neck design, with the cowl placement, straight up looks like TDK/TDKR batsuit.

Guys don't sweat the details too much.

IMHO the timelines don't really work and some of the tech Batman has here looks more advanced than Arkham City even though this is supposed to Bats 2.0.

Just have to let go of such details. It's a Batman game set in the Arkham-verse. Just play and enjoy.

I'm really hoping they won't do this in sequels. I mean, trying to make it larger. I want it smaller and more focused. I'd like to have the environment be like a character once again, like the Asylum was.

Batman: Arkham Origins To Be Consistent With Batman: Year One Origin Story. October 2, 2013 . 3:35pm

According to Warner Bros. Montreal’s creative director Eric Holmes, Batman: Arkham Origins will be consistent with elements of the Batman: Year One comic book version of Batman’s origin.

Batman: Arkham Origins takes place early on in Bruce Wayne’s career as Batman, with Warner Bros. referring to it as a “Year Two” story. But what about Batman’s first year?

According to Warner Bros. Montreal’s creative director Eric Holmes, Batman: Arkham Origins will be consistent with elements of the Batman: Year One comic book version of Batman’s origin, although certain aspects of it will be different.

When asked by a fan if Year One and Arkham Origins will be relevant to one another, Holmes replied over Twitter (via: GoNintendo), “We have tried to be consistent where possible. The world is consistent although I would consider the Y1 ending (rooftop, card) not.”

While the main Batman: Arkham Origins story campaign will not cover Bruce’s origin story in great detail, the game will be getting an “Initiation” challenge map DLC, which will depict him before his Batman days, taking on a test to prove himself worthy to his teacher, Kirigi.

Meanwhile, over in the world of comic books, Batman is getting an all-new origin story, courtesy of Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo, who are working on the ongoing Batman: Zero Year event that gives Bruce a completely different origin from Batman: Year One.
