Batman: Arkham Origins

What a kick ass game. Just another chapter in the arkham story. Enjoy them all. Have all the dlc extras. All of these games were a day one purchase. Arkham knight looks to be the biggest game yet. Ive always upgraded to the next console because of a new batman game and I will be doing so because of Arkham knight.

It would actually have to be GOTY material to get a GOTY Edition, which this game really isn't. There should be a Complete Edition, though there's hasn't been nothing since June.

Haha you'd think that but that's absolutely not the case. "Game of the year" is as watered down a title as you can get. EVERYONE hands out a "GOTY" award and in the games industry, publishers act like every outlet that uses that phrase can be taken seriously. I mean there was a Dead Island game of the year edition and that game sits around a 70 meta score.

I know most people had issues with this game, but I think if there's anything most(if not everyone) can agree on is that it handled Bane much better than the previous games.

All the characters were handled really well, and in some cases I felt even better than the previous games, especially Bane. Alfred, Gordon, and Barbara, too.

AO is one of my favourite Batman things. They got a lot right. The score was one of the best. The characters were written well. The story was solid. WB Montreal were in a tricky spot, really. If they used the same template, they're playing it safe and it's 'just a DLC add-on'. If they shake the formula too much, they have no place to do so, etc. For all the doom and gloom of 'will it measure up to Rocksteady', AO stood on its own two feet just fine, in my opinion.

I feel the same way

One problem, lot bugs and there still some of them in it.

Would love a reboot of the franchise. A more intimate, slowed down version of the game. Not everything has to have an epic scale feel to it.

Then there's no way you played it nearly as much as many of us did. Or your copy was blessed.

Absolutely. I hate what they did to Bane in the previous games. In this one he was my favorite, as his presence was so intimidating. Even Joker didn't dare to play with him when they met.

That's not going to happen. Primarily because it's a dumb idea but also because what they're currently doing with the franchise is working.

Why don't you go back and play Arkham Asylum, Last Son?

That's about as intimate and contained as it gets.

My game had zero bugs. Literally not one issue and I purchased it the midnight of its release.

Yeah its wired the only problem I have is that some time the games runs at like 15 FPS for a little bit but other then that no problems weird how some one can have like no problems yet ever one else has so may problems.

Is the Dark Knight skin even worth the hassle?

It makes you wonder - if the series rebooted after AK - would they retain the same mechanic? I'm all for new things, but can that free flow combat and gliding style be drastically bettered? Is there any other way?

I think I was talking about this in the 60s thread, but I want them to do a game set in the 60s universe. It would be so amazing.

Maybe I'm just not creative, but I honestly can't fathom how any significant changes to Rocksteady's formula would actually be even better than what we already have. There's just a certain threshold where it's perfect.

The free-flow combat in particular captures Batman's fighting ability so flawlessly...that, and the gliding system, as well as the "predator" sequences are all so damn great that rebooting and changing all of that would be change for the sake of change.

Rocksteady has truly made us "Be the Batman". You just can't top that, imo. Best case scenario would be WB Montreal continuing with the younger Batman. They've already laid down a good foundation (story-wise) with the Bat-Joker relationship, and there's still tons of potential in exploring the origins of the rest of the villains/Bat-mythos.

There were some struggles with Origins, but they are totally correctable. Also, WB Montreal won't be "rookies" anymore nor will they have the placeholder/holdover tag on them. If they go all out, I'm confident they can make satisfying Batman games.

I'm both excited and afraid that Arkham Knight will be the absolute pinnacle of Batman gaming though.

Yeah, it would. Imagine a bright cel-shaded 60s Batman game. Something like Ultimate Spider-Man on PS2.

I rather they take it to the future.

Nah, make it look as much like the show as possible. Cel shaded would be cool for a BTAS game, though.

Its just a black version of the default suit. I didnt find the challenges to be that difficult tho.

Well, the series is over after AK, so a reboot would just mean more Batman games. I would be down with that. :woot:

Id wager a hefty sum that the series won't end after AK. It might end for Rocksteady, but WB isn't going to let this series go.
