Gonna throw Wes Bentley's name back in the ring.

- Talented actor
- Dark hair
- blue eyes
- 5'11" (he'd be over 6'0" in the suit)
- Not a household name
- Under 40-years-old

Why does Batman have to be played by a white man? Catwoman has been played by black women, why not Batman

Because as far as we know this would be a sequel rather than a true reboot.

Wes Bentley I like. I think he's my top fancast now.

How is casting a black man rebooting the series but casting a white man is just a sequel?

It's the other way around. If this is supposed to be the same guy that Batfleck is, and Batfleck is white, then this guy should also be white. That wouldn't be a factor if this was a reboot.

Desmond Harrington he could pull off being Bruce Wayne or how about Joel Edgerton

Those are Marvel characters.

a) You seem to be suffering from Psylockolossus syndrome.

b) I'm saying that Thomas and Martha Wayne can be the equivalent of those two. I don't have to always use the words "like them" because that's why we also have metaphors and not just similes.

Harrington wouldn't work because it would confuse people. Audiences will remember his breakthrough role as "A**hole Cop On Bridge" in The Dark Knight Rises, and they'll be left dumbfounded as to how this ill-tempered GCPD officer somehow assumed Bruce Wayne's identity.

It would be much more preferable to cast someone with no ties to the previous continuity.

Which is why I went with Joel Edgerton as Bruce Wayne/Batman

Armitage is 45 and older than Affleck. he's not going to be cast.

Joel Edgerton, Oscar Isaac or Armie Hammer as the new Bruce

I think 35 is around the ideal age, because it won't be until another 5 years or so (assuming Affleck isn't recast for The Batman). So I'd choose Jake Gylenhaal, but if age wasn't an issue I'd still vouch for Armitage.

That's another reason why I think Bentley would be a good fit. He could play Batman for ten years and still come in under fifty years old when he's finished.

Because no doubt Affleck is getting recast I mean he is going to be too old by the time the solo comes out so for a recast...Jake Gyllenhaal or Oscar Isaac is my pick

I'd like to see him in 1 full solo Batman movie before they recast the character. Its weird how they make a commitment to the DC movie universe then talk about rebooting/recasting the main character. so much for continuity. I realize Ben is getting older and he only signed on for 3 movies, but he's supposed to be an old Batman and hes the glue for all the movies. He was in BvS, SS, his name was in WW, he's putting together the JL....it just seems like too much to recast him

I kind of have the idea if they recast the role with someone that looks sort of like Ben Affleck, 73.58% of the audience won't even know the difference. And 85.17% won't even care.

Casey Affleck.

Pretty confident that Affleck will stay on, but I'd love Richard Armitage in the role. Not the closest resemblance or other similarities to Affleck, but I feel like he fits the Bat role.

I agree. Armitage was my pick for the new Batman before Ben especially after I saw the Hobbit movies. I didn't mind that they wanted a Batman who was not a rookie but I just wish that they didn't start this new Batman 20 years in. 10 years would've worked fine.

I think Armitage is better suited for Slade Wilson than Joe Manganiello.

For what it's worth, Bentley is on record as saying he'd like to play Batman.

I've liked Bentley for this for years. Back in the day, a little after American Beauty, I remember people really liked him for Dick Grayson. But now that he's older, he'd make a fantastic Bruce Wayne.

Yeah, I'd be down with Bentley. If he bulked up a bit, he could look like the spitting image of comic book Bruce Wayne and he's good at playing dark, moody characters.

Bentley would be a terrific Batman. One of his more recent appearances was in the (imo) very underrated We are Your Friends, and he was great in that.

Chalk another vote up for Bentley. Right age, right look, arguably a much better actor than Affleck, not so famous as to bring a load of baggage to the part. Pretty much perfect with a bit of weight lifting.

The only thing he'd have to do is deepen his voice a bit, otherwise I think he's a slam dunk in nearly every regard.
