I guess he's so far like the pre-Batman Begins-post-American Psycho-Christian Bale fan-favorite, huh? I'd like Urban for the role too, but I just don't think lighting will strike twice.

seriously why is brolin getting hate??

- he is a phenomenal actor with a respectable resume and an oscar nomination
- square jaw
- ruggedly handsome good looks
- deep voice
- has shown he can be charismatic and charming but also shown he can be a tough bad ass
- looks just like bruce wayne imo

honestly i am shocked this isn't getting more love age dispute aside

It's getting hate because we don't want a 50 year old batman. There will be a time for that in ten years or so, but right now an established adult batman is what people want.

The bizarro notion of dumping old-man Dark Knight Returns style Bruce into a contemporary narrative makes me want to headdesk. Superman and Batman should be contemporaries, peers. Casting someone in a similar age range to Russell Crowe is going to frame Batman as some weird surrogate father-figure to Superman, which he totally shouldn't be.

This is a really good point I haven't seen brought up yet. Good case for why there should be a younger Batman. I'm actually fine with an older Batman though. Kind of prefer it, but your point is really good though. They are suppose to be peers, equals. Having an older Batman kind of twists that dynamic.

because he fugly as **** and Bruce Wayne ain't fugly :). Plus he's just way too old imo.

Maybe not, but of all the choices, this one makes the most sense.

Why it shouldn't strike twice? Believe in DC, believe in superman, believe in Batman. I cross my fingers.

I wouldn't waste my time spending my days questioning actors sexuality. I don't think there's any famous male actor today who hasn't had at least one gay rumor to their name.

Not to mention it's completely irrelevant.

Urban has the perfect Eastwoodian gutteral voice. I'm sure he'll mix it up, but if he just reprises his Dredd voice, I'll be happy.

A younger actor will have to be introduce all over again, this could take too much time in the film.

I think the differences will be apparent as soon as Batman enters Superman's world, but also through costume changes and planning ability.

A certain part of the GA will always be confused. We just have to accept that.

Karl Urban is the perfect choice. He has the look. He's a big dude. He's old enough to play an established batman. He already kicked butt in "Dredd." He's not a huge "star" so he won't overshadow Cavill. He's relatively cheap and I'm sure he would sign on for multiple films. It's just too perfect. I just can't see how this doesn't happen.

Seriously, people, listen to reason. In an insane world, it's the only sane choice.

Look that picture he look repressed look to his eyes Batman need these eyes.

Karl would be awesome because he has a lot of presence, but doesn't chew scenery. He'd pull of the Wayne persona rather well, and he wouldn't have a problem pulling off Batman. I also feel like he's the most "Bale-ish" of the choices, and would do the best job of satisfying those who think of Bale as the definitive Batman. He also has enough street cred to satisfy those demanding of prestige, though I think that element is overrated.

In a word, I think Urban would be the best at being an "all round" Batman for audiences. I personally feel like this choice is a little too "safe", but he's my number two for Batman, and wouldn't mind at all if he gets cast.

Urban kills Edgerton in the looks department.

Re-casting Cavill is not even on the table. He's reprising the role. It's in the press release. Done deal. Also, WHAT?

Batman will be older than Superman.

By HOW much though? Any more than 5 is a problem for me with Supes being as young as he is.
