The Dark Knight Rises Batman out in the daylight

Yeah the suit in the light looked great, I don't think any other previous suit would have held up as well visually against the light.

I would have preferred him to have been fighting in the early morning
The scene is early morning in Gotham. Catwoman is riding off at dawn on the bat-pod and she doesn't blow the hole in the covered up highway tunnel until the early morning when the battle starts.

At first I had reservations about Batman being out in day light. But in context of the story, it made sense. When you think of Batman out during the day you naturally think of the whimsical and goofy 60's series.

But it makes sense. In BEGINS he established this mythic creature mostly at night. Nolan and Bruce treat him as a dracula and true Bat like creature in the first two films. Only bringing him out with hints of sunlight at dusk or dawn, but mostly at night.

So by the time TDK Rises comes along, Batman has a cemented legend and threat among everyone in Gotham. Everyone respects him. The only reason he comes out in the day is to lead the good of Gotham in "war" to reclaim their city. And by all accounts, he's still intimidating even in day light. That is a testement to the manner in which the character was written, Bale's tense physical precense, and the beautifully constructed paramilitary esque TDK suit which looks intimidating and practical even in harsh lightings like day light or brightly lit interrogation rooms.

Plus Gotham's streets weren't populated by civilians. It was Dent's criminals, mercenaries, and cops ... all people who are well aware of the Batman's capabilities, whether they fear or respect him.

It makes sense thematically that it come full circle and Batman brings the dawn to Gotham.

Yes considering some of the concerns people had about the suit prior to release it held up well in daylight and getting completely soaked conditions.

I'm sorry...no other suit would have held up visually against the light?

So "No other film's suit could have been "visible"?

It makes sense thematically that it come full circle and Batman brings the dawn to Gotham.

And that would have made sense if we'd seen him bring the dawn...instead of the dawn coming and going...and then just Batman fighting in daylight.

Dawn and dusk are usually avoided when it comes to shooting due to the lighting being noticeably different from setup to setup. With a scene of that scale, I'm not surprised that they opted to shoot it in daylight.

Thematically it works fine.

Yeah trying to get it to shoot that scene at dawn alone would have been a nightmare unless CGI were involved, making it in daylight just made much more sense all round anyway.

I hated seeing Batman just walking around in the daylight. Didn't feel right unless it was Adam West.

It was early morning, thus dawn and break of daylight. It wasn't high noon. It wasn't even that bright. You can clearly see as Bane marches up the steps to a waiting Batman that it was shot with the intent of it being morning time.

If you're talking about the early sun rising, actual dawn ... that doesn't last long. Certainly not enough time for a war to be waged on an epic scale.

It's clearly conveyed both literally and thematically that Batman leads Gotham into the dawn and early morning sunlight for the people to reclaim their city and stop it from it's potential destruction.

It's shown in the film's logo, even. It worked, which prior to seeing it ... I never thought it would work.

At no stage in the film was we just walking around in the daylight like Adam West.

I may be wrong, but I think what George was trying to say was the Bat-Suit used in TDKR "looked great" or was aesthetically pleasing to behold in the daylight [which I also thought when I saw the last half hour or so of TDKR]

it comes into context when you use the beginning of his quote:

I think it comes down to Batman knowing that he must save Gotham at ANY time of the day, not just after the sun goes down.

Especially when there was a time bomb...

So who was that in cape and mask during the whole daylight finale scenes?

He wasn't just wondering around like you said, I was just pointing out that he had a purpose for being out in daylight and was doing stuff, you know like fighting in a mass street brawl and saving Gotham from a nuclear bomb, not going down the post office for the daily rag.:woot:

I wish I was there but alas I was not.:yay:

At that point, when Gotham was under siege for what, 3 months, Batman had no choice but to go out in the daylight.

Exactly. Dire circumstances required his presence. Gotham was Hours away from obliteration. The suit looked great in daylight too.
