I say it will make

But maybe I'm just overzealous.

Seriously though, 1.2 billion is my low-to-mid end guess.

Can you imagine if the next trailer shows WW and cyborg along with a threat like Doomsday?
I'm desperately wanting to say a billion, something like the above in the next trailer will push me over the line into saying it.

What bias? I just gave a prediction, not a criticism. The movie isn't even out yet, so I can't offer an objective criticism if I wanted to. You should consider calming way down.

Seriously??? 280 Dom stay in the marvel thread because this one isn't for you
That's less than mos tell me how are you even being fair to this FLIM

i'd say $400m domestic and $750m international so $1.15 billion at the minimum

$280 Million domestic? I feel like I'm being trolled. It's not making less than MOS let's get real here.

I'm totally confident of the billion.

I'm totally confident of the billion.

A Billion is actually crazy hard to achieve, this one can do it for sure, the release worldwide needs to be coordinated well though.

The thing is BvS is the setup movie for the universe, if this one is amazing and does well (say around a billion finish), JL and future movies will reap the benefit.

look at this link and tell me one film that has a chance to even scratch the BvS box office? cuz the closet one i see is the jungle book and thats after 22 days in its run which is more than enough time to pass the billion dollar mark

I don't think it will be all that hard for this project. It's a crazy number for a new franchise agreed but this has the 2 biggest comic characters of them all along with the hint of others we'll hopefully see in the full trailer and kickstarting a new universe. I don't expect it to go whizzing way past a billion but I'm confident it will get some way past it. Batman's done it himself in his last 2 films.

$732 million world wide box office.
$280 million domestic box office

The film has nearly two months to itself before Captain America Civil War. Although March tends to be a slow month, the lack of direct competition and the historic nature of having two iconic heroes appear together in a live action film for the first time, will inevitably lure in movie goers. The film will once again split audiences, as there will be those that hate the even darker tone of this film, and those who are excited to see Batman and Superman team-up/fight. Despite the controversy, the film will do well enough to propel the rest of the DCCU.

You must be trolling with those box office numbers for Batman v Superman?

Man of Steel made over $290m domestically against strong competition.... in a tough month. And if you think Batman v Superman is only going to make about $100m more worldwide, then you're seriously deluded.

Anyways, I'm seeing this movie at $450m to $500m domestically and $750m to $800m overseas at the moment.

If that happened it would mean an absolutely awful overseas number. You're talking about $300m.

No. I said.... 450m to 500m domestically (US/Canada) and 750m to 800m overseas (the rest of the world).

Anyone know why man of steel made only $377m overseas, i mean do people outside of america think that superman is an uninteresting character or something? and would the inclusion of batman (plus zero competition) increase that OS number from $377m to like $700m+?

Not everything has appeal overseas, brands often have to build their relevance there. Especially if they aren't based on robots or spiderman in asian countries or gentlemen spies and Wizards in the UK. Most american things doing well there have built what they've got. The mcu brand is textbook at having built their brand overseas, same with furious.

TDK not getting a china release didn't help matters but it's built itself up there and TDKR enjoyed the the results. Superman imo is another animal, the brand hasn't been relevant in cinema for many decades, especially to the young adults there, and the last incarnation prior to MOS may have simply been unappealing.
MOS itself did as alot of these solo starters do there and it's sequel would have no doubt rode the trend of increasing returns, see Apes and Xmen for models of this. That being said, adding batman and selling this as a easily accessible 3D novelty event is sure to do gang busters everywhere.
What's more, the asian markets grow immensely every year.

Same thing I said

Oh sorry I misread. Makes much more sense!

TDKR had the worst release ever in China, it left 70-80M on the table.

SARFT programmed TDKR to open on the exact same day as TASM in China, on a WEDNESDAY of all days. Both TDKR and TASM made it to 50M, but both left a lot of money on the table due to that boneheaded decision by SARFT.

I actually remember that.
It's a shame people wave intl numbers around like some banner not always appreciating how inconsistent they are in relative comparison. Some roll out way faster than others, some don't even get into certain countries etc. Then the fact that china is simply all over the place.
Domestic numbers(even with 3D) are really the only consistent comparison these days imo.

That and if you hit a billion, you hit a billion.

True, people also forget how quick China is growing. 2012 had 1 Hollywood movie making 100M in China, 2013 had 2 and in that IM3 only got the 100M because they got the plum May Day release slot thanks to the China exclusive scenes they added. 2014 saw 6 movies get to 100M or more, 2015 has already seen Furious 7 which will get to 350M and Cinderella which almost got to 100M.

When people bring up MoS making less than TASM2, Cap 2, DOFP and GOTG worldwide, they forget the China boom which is happening, remove China and all the movies have literally made within 10M of each other WW.

To be fair Man of Steel should be compared with Batman Begins, b.o. wise... BvS is the breaking point, the one that should 'explode' on b.o. ala The Dark Knight.

This is a true analogy. The problem is that Batman Begins was well liked. Man of Steel was not. You can't really presume a massive explosive growth from an underwatched-but-really-good initial movie, when the initial movie *isn't* viewed as being really good.

tell that to transformers tho

The GA and the voices on the internet have a different definition of the terms 'good' and 'well liked'.

That hang over movie isn't what I assume people are defining a 'good movie' with good story and substance and all that important stuff. The GA actually feel differently for they pay for enjoyment.
The MOS numbers, especially domestically argue something very clear about the GA's feeling on it.
