It appears that this film didn't sustain much momentum beyond the first week.

Can we say: flavor of the week?

Both of them also made more than BVS despite not featuring Batman, Superman, or Wonder Woman in it.

Also, what DarthSkywalker said.

batman begins had batman in it, doesnt mean much in today's age and does not guarantee a huge box office. Especially when Supes is apparently "uncool" and WW has never even been in a movie. We have no idea what type of fanbase that character would attract.

The success of this movie will depend on the next few movies down the line, we'll see what happens with Suicide Squad and WW to see if the cramming of this film was worth it. WB will come out ahead at the end of the day on this movie. Is it what they wanted? i highly doubt it but it launched several franchises in one go which is what they needed after Hobbit and Harry Potter ended.

Exactly, look how crammed the Wonder Woman film is, having weeks of no major competition is a godsend for every blockbuster films and this film totally botched it!
Soon enough, WB comic book movies won't even be competition.

Right. Completely different circumstances, wouldn't you say? Why did AoU made that much money? Was it because it was an amazing movie and everybody loved it? I think if that's the case, why do we even needs reviews, critics and ratings? We can just look at how much a movie makes to decide whether or not it is good.
They definitely liked it more then BvS. But I am sure you are right. People just stopped going to see this movie because they loved it so much. :funny:

Something something prove it. Something something subjective. Something something everyone I know liked it. :o

It's a more beloved movie than BVS that's for sure (and for the record I didn't like AoU when I saw it but it's still so much better than BVS that I'd watch that movie 10 times before watching BVS again)

Beyond the BO numbers we also have: Rotten Tomatoes score, IMDB score, Twitter statistics, Metacritic score, Cinemascore, etc. All of those indicate a negative/"meh" reaction to the movie.

Six days until Justice League starts filming.

Ding... Ding... Ding...

AoU had good reviews and good word of mouth. BvS has none of that, and look what's happening.

LOL. Zack Snyder's comments about Ant-Man in comparison to Batman and Superman are pretty darn funny right about now. Despite how recognizable characters like Batman and Superman are, that won't mean squat if you make crap- people will notice and opt just not to care.

I am sure WB loves it when it flushes money down the drain. What makes you think they'll keep throwing money at DCEU when the first two movies are box office disappointments?

You can say that again. For past few years I had to keep reading about Zack Snyder's pompous attitude toward Marvel and his egotistical boasting about DCEU. He's the man I hate the most in Hollywood right now and I have seen most of his movies. He's a cinematographer that got lucked into becoming a director when he has no business being one.

Ever since the movie came out this forum has turned into a cesspool of negativity, which as a BvS defender really bums me out. But outside the Positivity Thread, you just provided the first glimmer of hope I've seen in a while. :yay:

In a way, maybe the critical drubbing and relative box office disappointment of BvS will make Warner Bros. try harder from here on out to make good movies. At a certain point they seemed to spend more effort selling the movie than actually making sure the movie would be both great in itself and appealing to a mass audience.

The box office for BvS is just enough to show that there's potential, but not so much that Warner Bros. thinks they can just shove these characters into any old movie and audiences will turn out in droves. I know studio execs are notoriously thickheaded and slow on the uptake, but maybe it will get through to them that the reason the MCU is a success is not just because they took a bunch of different superheroes and put them together, but that they made audiences love these characters and want to see them interact with each other again and again.

Of course, given their track record, my guess is that WB execs will react to this in a superficial, panicky way by aping Marvel and trying to shoehorn more humour and quips into their DC films from SS on out.

It's not that people aren't going back a second time because they hated it. It's because BvS is a tough flick to watch like Schindler's list. People loved it. But they can't take it more than once.

It's not designed to be easily digestible like Marvel's films are. That's why it's not getting repeat views like theirs.

Was that a good impression?

so, would BvS be considered a "bomb?"
