I believe there ends up being a minimal profit once all revenue streams are accounted for. Still, it's not making as much money as they were hoping for. They are in a position where they won't lose any money on this, so I guess that can get painted as a positive by some.

I am eagerly anticipating the weekend actuals tomorrow. The Boss will probably remain on top and by a larger margin than projected.

Found this on Reddit:

BvS headed to a 1.95-2.05 multiplier. How this stacks up to all other superhero movies and an explanation of why it's important to look past the total gross in the comments.

So, at the bottom it's either BvS or Watchmen.

Yeah, right, Snyder is not the problem :whatever:

Interesting multiplier list. It's almost as if Snyder might be the problem. But, nah, he couldn't be the problem, his movies are intellectual masterpieces. It's gotta be the writers right? The actors? WB? Maybe the catering staff, right? Right?

</sarcasm>

Musta butchered this post....deleting.

Looks like $850-$875 is about the number it's going to hit. Jungle Book is going to be a huge factor in what's left for it to earn, but then Civil War comes out.

LOL, yeah, a good multiplier doesn't mean "problems solved". It's relative to the OW, so things can get pretty skewed with movies opening in the low, makes the ratio go up or down faster.

But also interesting, Superman 1978 is right there at #2, and Superman II is #5

Different era (least it was here in the UK): Lower ticket prices, far less piracy as home video was a relatively new thing back then (our home didn't get a VCR until around 81, a top loading monster of a machine, and that was rented). Cable was only just kicking off around then too (not a lot on them either here) and it could take a good while for films to hit home rental VCR (Which was the only option for many then as buying them new on release cost a lot more than today's DVD's). Then it could take a good few years for network TV to get the films.

These days the market is very different.

Also the amount of screens was inferior, playing again "front-loadiness".

But in the case of Superman, I'll risk saying that the character is universally known, and potentially can earn the love of audiences to have Spider-Man/Batman/Star Wars legs.

Damn.......this thing won't even hit 900 million huh?

That's a good thing. WB needs a wake up call like this. This movie should have been a shoe in to make a billion or more. When a critically panned Melissa McCarthy movie can out do it on only it's third weekend, then you know something is seriously wrong.

Hope they remove Snyder as a director for JL or is it too late? . I mean they should go ahead with the DCEU because It is needed. These movies have a huge fan base but it needs to be well liked by GA, they need to get someone else who can bring entertainment + good story telling/directing into the mix for JL. George Miller is a producer for JL so why not make him the director, he knows how to do these movies.
His proposed JL was going to be comic book accurate yet possibly as entertaining and likeable as MAD MAX FURY ROAD. He just needs to work with the given script by Terrio. He was clearly not the problem. The film seemed written well but the editing and direction took away the story. I mean keep Snyder as producer. Snyder's ideas are cool but those are just ideas.

If he is not removed, Snyder needs to be a yes man for JL. If this is not a wake up call for WB, let it be for Snyder, accept that he doesn't understand basic storytelling, let others tell him what to do and JL will be more than ok.

Unless they do a full-out delay, can't see how this affects anything in the immediate future. JL is literally filming tomorrow.

Hopefully WB checks Snyder. Even though I enjoyed BvS for what it was (and of course, it had the potential to be much, much, much better), JL needs to be both a masterpiece and a critically and audience loved masterpiece at that. And it needs to be financially successful. More than anything, JL needs to set the stage for solo films for these characters. It needs to generate interest in them. So, I'm hoping that the disappointing box office will lead to some changes that will lead to a financially successful and profitable JL box office. Because that's the only way, imo, to ensure that there is interest in solo films for all of the JL members, including another Superman film and a Batman solo.

Which is really bad news for JL.

They can't delay. They need filming on JL to be over the halfway point by the next shareholder meeting this summer.

Will execs lose jobs or something?

EDIT: Alright.

Is it possible that changes have already been made at this point? It's not like there's any reason for the public to know it immediately, especially so early after the film's release.

While JL starts filming tomorrow, I wouldn't take it for granted that nothing has been changed.

Maybe the changes are more towards films after JL1.

Or else the execs who gave Snyder the keys to the kingdom will be out the door along with him

What happens if Snyder produces another expensive stinker and without the novelty of being the first on screen meeting between Batman and Superman, the box office falls to something like $600 million worldwide?

I absolutely believe changes have been made. I absolutely believe we won't hear about said changes.

Expect an entire regime change at WB. Right now it feels like they were caught bluffing three times, it's the fourth hand and they have no good cards, and are praying to every god that will listen they get three of a kind on the flop.
