Talk about hyperbolic nonsense...trailer 2 was fantastic and the audience i saw it with responded very well to it especially when WW appeared...trailer 2 haters really have no clue when it comes to marketing...WB knows how to market their movies...that trailer was probably one of many that they thoroughly market tested with audiences and found that one to be the most effective before they released it...only a vocal small minority of fanboys on the internet seem to dislike it where as every one else thought it was awesome...that trailer did not in any way damage or hurt the movie...the link below shows some real reactions to the trailer!

I've seen this before but it was nice rewatching it. :woot:

Interesting to see this film getting 1 billion isn't some impossible fan claim any longer.

More interesting to see people suggesting the film will make more in domestic and intl alone than the lead in film made combined? Odd but Interesting if it happens. It will mean various people at the studio will be getting raises for their decision making skills.

800-925 million worldwide is my guess for range at this moment  I don't think it needs to do a billion, but it certainly could if getting amazing reviews. That will push a film like this over the top adding to hype of it!

When was this ever considered impossible? I'm quite sure WB is hedging their bets and hopes that it will make at least a billion.

If it's really entertaining and the critics decide it's a fun ride, it will do a bil and a half.

All I care about is it reaching 1B internationally.

If it "only" makes 450M domestically, that's still awesome. I mean, seriously awesome for what a lot of us consider a prequel JL film. Just imagine what THAT monster will do.

I think box office expectations have shifted the past year due to JW and TFA. Not even Marvel does those numbers, and people **** over themselves to hype the MCU on social media and in reviews.

BvS will break March records, but it'll be JL that'll destroys the box office.

I think people underestimate the importance of the reviews for a film like this impacting overall box office.

This. Like it or not, reviews and WOM are key parts to the box office of genre films. Would TFA be doing as well as it is, if it got the same reception that TPM did? Of course there are exceptions to every rule, (in this case Transformers) but reviews do make and break a film's box office run.

TFA would have made a lot of money overall no matter what, but for undecided casual viewers who headed to rottentomatoes and saw 95%..... they decided to give in to the force :hehe: Definitely helped the b.o. $$$$

If you browse this thread history prior to trailers you'll see lots of talk about 1 billion being unlikely and overblown fan speculation. Though I suppose I don't recall the term impossible being mentioned. I do mean to point out how much more likely it's seemingly become.

I think it's a joke that such things ride on the whims of Faraci and his contemporaries. Every now and then I check out something like the sreen rant post cast and to think these are contributing voices to the holy grail that is going to decide if somethign fun or and goes on to make money, it' such an injustice to artists imo.
Can't get over that. Would be just as sour to find out this very forum full of opinions is going to decide. With any film, comedies in particular.

All I know is word of mouth is going to make or break for this film. It will debut big, how big? not sure yet but even Man of Steels debut was very impressive.

If critical reviews and word of mouth aren't strong than its legs will be cut.

I think audiences want to believe this will be a good film but as soon as word breaks that it's not people will turn away. This is really a new franchise here and it doesn't have the good will of an established brand like Star Wars or even the MCU at this point.

I'm sure the debut will be impressive. Hell I feel confident enough to say that it will have an impressive second weekend with a relatively low drop. However the film's quality will decide whether or not it has legs.

I think MOS with better critical success does another 100-200 million.

TFA's performance is really impressive given that it doesn't even open in China until next week.

I hope BvS is a pretty widely accepted and recommended film. I don't mind if I like it and it's polarizing to some, but I'd rather it just be a more widely accepted film really. We need it to do well and give setup of JL and new standalone upcoming films a bit of boost.

Well most people are focusing on the crazy domestic numbers right now so international numbers have taken somewhat of a back seat in focus.

Oh, I forgot to add this: First, as mentioned, the film has to be really great fun to be a success... but if in addition to that Gal Gadot rocks Wonder Woman in this thing... I think that's going to seal the deal for big box office numbers. Basis for this is that what I consistently hear reported is that during the TFA trailer showings of BvS audiences are vocally excited at Wondy's reveal in the trinity united money shot. Batman and Superman is a guaranteed draw for CBM fans, but I have a feeling that sexy and martially badass Wonder Woman will light an even bigger fire under the GA.

Sometimes being the new fresh thing is the advantage. Like in 2007.
You take away avengers and weigh the momentum of an ironman 4 vs a guardians(especially going into first sequel)sort of deal. One can see this freshness vs established when they compare the likes of the dceu and the xmen centric stuff at the moment.
I think Stawars is tapping into the best of both worlds right now, established but feeling fresh right now. This harry potter thing if good, as well.

I have to give it up to the mcu for feeling 'fresh' and pulling in this much interest whilst selling yet another infighting avengers movie and cap for like the 3rd year in a row. I do hope their third act in that movie isn't just another avengers ending(leading into another.. avengers) but something more personal like tws. They've managed to make it feel like a climatic event even though they've done so a few times prior.

Sometimes established is as big as it gets, it just comes down to where in it's lifetime it is imo. Hard to put my finger on sometimes ala fast/furious and the mcu. Easy to do with with the likes of lord of the rings and bond(currently).

Rumors that Daredevil season 2 will hit on the same day as BvS. That is a troll job by Marvel if that is true. :funny:

At the end of the day, it ain't going to matter much. It isn't like Daredevil is going to disappear if you go see BvS instead, and vice versa.

It most certainly matters, the same way the Mayweather/Pacman fight mattered for AoU.
