I think because the way the ears were designed they were shorter it made the cowl come off different.
Good point. It boils down to personal taste. No matter how much they change the suit, people will have problems with it. I like the Begins suit. I think the ears could be longer but that's it.Thot said:The Bat-suit can be done a hundred different ways and still look cool and work. It boils down to more a matter of personal stylistic preferences. I really like the Begins suit but, of course, I would like to change "a few" things to make it more to my liking. However, Nolan has done the Batman justice and should stick with the same basic look. My relatively minor quibbles have to do with the ears, mouth opening, symbol and clasps.
And it's got a bit farther to go yetWams said:Im amazed at how far this thread went...

He didn't get buffed up for nothing - those shirtless scenes were very nice.Wams said:Bale got all buffed out for nothing, cuz they coverd him all up

I agree on all counts - that's the reason Topher Grace is currently lifting iron in order to passify the crazed "Venom is frickken HUGE" fanboys, even though once he's actually possessed by the Spider-Man symbiote it won't make any difference.DAVIDYR1 said:Having Bale all buffed out means Bruce Wayne is convincing as a possible Batman. If Wayne is buff, tough and big, then makes sense that Bats would be able to do all those things.
That's one of the problems I had with Keaton...sure, he looked awesome as Bats...then out of costume we were supposed to believe he could hold someone over a roof top?
Nah...dont think so. Thats why rubber or no rubber Bale all buffed out works. I love the Begins suit, and would love to see it return, and could be fine with something different I suppose...but I am all about the rubber.
I will happily entertain other versions though. The sketches here are cool for instance.

Exactly, David explains it beautifully. I also like the aspect of the Costume being a hard armor, and being big just adds to the credibility of it and makes it seem as though he can actually fight crime. I have also always had a fascination with the movie's Batman having his 'suit of armor' locked away in the costume vault. Seeing him open it, and looking into what looks like his 'inner most fear' or creature to which he wants to become was always symbolic with me. From B89 when he opens the vault, and looks into the beast's eyes (the costume in the vault)...he sort of transforms himself mentally and physically by doing that process. It would look awkward seeing a t-shirt hanging on a hangar. It seems more mythic to see a hard sculpted armor there, because it looks as if it is actually alive. Kind of like the ritual ancient samuari, gladiators and ninja went through when putting on their armor and masks. Does anyone get what I am trying to say? lolDAVIDYR1 said:Having Bale all buffed out means Bruce Wayne is convincing as a possible Batman. What I like about them is that they're organic but not overly anatomical - it's to an attempt to directly portray human musculature, just to hint at it. That's the way I wish the Begins suit had gone.
The arms and legs of the Begins suit are actually close in concept to these - and you can see how it might have evolved from them - as people said right when the first Begins suit pics came out, the arms and legs are much more organic looking than the slightly more mechanical/robotic/"busy" abdomen.
That is exactly what it should be."smooth-skin neoprene (i.e. wetsuit) with seams in it"
