The Dark Knight Batsuit Discussion Thread

Do you like the idea of a new Batsuit in TDK?

  • Yes, I like the idea of a change to a greyish, lighter & more streamlined suit.

  • No, I would rather Batman stay in the black, body armour type suit from BB.

it looks like a robo batman, like an action figure more or less. where is the creature of the night? bales suit, both suits, just look like expenisve halloween costumes. it doesnt look "organic" at all. thing i liked about the older movie suits was that the design was more stylized, not so ultra realistic or robotic. this one looks too home-made. maybe that was the idea, but it doesnt make the suit look any less sh**y. not to mention the mouth hole was about 10 sizes too small for bales mouth, so whenever he spoke he looked like a fat guy trying to squish into the cowl. it also made bale look fat. only improvement i see on the new suit is that bale doesnt look like "fat" man anymore. but instead, he looks like "anorexic" man. just cant win i guess.
so it looks like it could be made at home? i think there is almost nooen on this forum that could make this at home.

Google, you are a sly little troll. You come here and do nothing but bash the films but do it in a subtle manner as to never get caught for it, you think everything in Christopher Nolan's films suck and he doesn't know what he's doing. You also have the dumbest sig of all time and you are constantly contradicting it. That coupled with your idiotic bigoted talk on the community board really shows how much of a troll you are. :down

PWNED

If you hate the movie suits like BB & TDK, then why are you using this manip pic? It still has more elements of the BB suit with a few manip on it. Talk about pulling a John Kerry there. It the same suit you hate with a minor update. You hate almost everything about the suit to like this pic. :whatever:

Who said they hated everything about the BEGINS and TDK suits?

"This time, on When Massive Generalizations Attack..."

I know Mitt hated them. I seen him talk about it & hate it. ;)

And Massive Generalizations? I always wanted to be part of those & 'cause a riot!! :jokeR:

Holy ISH!! :wow: :wow: I hadn't seen this Rambo clip . . . looks gory as hell!!

It's in the first trailer for John Rambo.

And there's another part in the trailer that'll make you blow several loads. That's what happened to me.

Mitt Romney? Weird, I always pegged him for a Burtonite anyway... :woot:

it was?! cuz I saw one a few months back and as much as I loved Rambo as a kid, I thought it looked weak . . . this restores my bloodlust

"I supported Tim Burton when it was unpopular. I'm Mitt Romney and I approve this message because I'm an intolerant prick."

Thing is, nothing painted will be as efficient for stealth as something closer to cloth which reflects less light. The TDK suit is a perfect example of that. The first shot released, the armor plates clearly reflect more light, being a painted surface. Same with the new trailer, take a look at the shot of him in the chair. If the whole suit were covered in that "chain mail", he'd blend into the shadows that much more.

both shots you were referred to are both shots of Batman in direct light. even cloth shows in direct light. you may be correct about cloth being less reflective and that it dulls lighting but 1) if a criminal gets a good look at bats, they'll see he's really a man in a suit regardless of the material being used and 2) using something that dulls lighting may be more practical, but that doesn't make it more camera friendly.

That's the bottom line and why I doubt we'd ever see a more "cloth covered" suit. It just wouldn't have that "totally badass" factor that the average joe wants to see.

i was actually talking about how cloth dulls lighting (not showing as well as plastic), but your point is very valid as well.

Never thought of that angle. But you are right.

All of that may sound nice. But it's still flawed. New heroes continue to be created with the same tight fitting costumes (like the classic 30's and 40's), in this day. Unless they are specifically characters that get their powers by their armor (i.e. Blue Beetle), they all still wear the tight cloth suits or something that looks like cloth (i.e. Night Thrasher).

Thrasher wears a kevlar suit. Why can't we do Bats the same way.

I think that too much armor sends a message to your enemy that you are really concerned with getting hurt. That shows weakness. :brucebat:

if i was fighting a guy dressed up as a bat, i think my last concern would be that he has too much armor. I think i would just want to get out of there or find a way to kill him

oh yeah that's right! just the other day i saw this new superhero that wore a bandanna with 2 holes for eyes, a makeshift cape, socks for boots, and undies on the outside! i believe they called him "RetroMan"!

well duh, tight fitting costume = superhero. if you're not wearing tight clothing you don't look like a superhero. i never mentioned anything about recent heroes NOT wearing tight clothing....i was basically saying that most heroes invented w/in the last 10 years don't wear impractical costumes (i.e. undies on the outside).

once again...never argued against it, so why bring it up?
