Back to the trunks and head movement eh? LOL!!
Here's what I think...not influenced by any outside source either...
Batman is big 'marketing' material...huge...
Each different Batman costume version seems to fly off of the shelves be it for toys, shirts, games...whatever.
A new suit in Begins II will mean new merchandise and while I dont think ANYONE wants repeat merchandising control over the film itself as we saw in B&R I do feel some changes to the suit will occur.
I love the Begins suit...as is. Improve on it?...Hell, why not?
What improvements?...technical and in the construction? Better movement..sure, but I thought is was fine on film. Promo stills showed buckles..on film we barely saw the suit never mind the folds.
Change design?
I do believe this could happen for a lot of reasons. Does this mean we'll get grey and black? Doubtful, but they did achnowledge the importance of 2 tone in the first film by having glossy smooth finishes on some elements of the suit, thus making the light reflect differently showing 2 dark shades of black.
Go with a fabric type suit? Again, I personally doubt they will do this..rubber suits seem to be the way to go for the big screen batman suit but again, I do say it could work. Do I want to see the briefs?...at this point if a fabric type suit was introduced it would have to work on it's own, if they could pull that off then I believe they could have briefs too...only if they served some kind of purpose. Like the Judge Dread costume. Crotch protection.
New design to the suit means a lot of new licenses for marketing and the like...they've done it for all the last movies but as long as they keep with the current formula of 'movie' first then marketing I am sure that whatever it is we get will be just as cool as the begins suit if not better this time.
I'm a rubber suit guy...love the Begins suit...but I do believe something different could work just the same.
To me, Batman is a feel more than a look...if what I see on film feels right (to me) then it will naturally look right too.
