I am going to keep note of the day when most of the naysayers flip over to support. I missed cataloguing the Heath Ledger flip.

When the day comes when people turn their opinions around....I'll just leave this here.

Exactly!! I am excited for the first time for this film. A little worried too but with Ben on board and hopefully having creative input it is good.

What I would like to see is a Lois and Bruce romance. Never done before on screen but that could be very interesting. Can't wait to see what kind of chemistry Ben has with Amy. I wonder if he screen tested with her?

An't gona happen... Lois is Superman's B####. An't no bats going in between her legs... Plus that's ruin her character for Superman if something like that did happen.

I'm actually glad that you didn't give a third option - people tend to be on the fence when it comes to controversies like this one. I say Affleck could impress us, but I vote no because he doesn't seem like a sure thing. I'm just not that confident in the choice. Again, that doesn't mean I can't see him doing a good job. He's also a lot less brute than Henry Cavill so maybe this works out when he shares the screen. Also, I just saw this pretty bad list ranking Batmans; I think everyone here should take a look at this

Well in light of BatBen being cast it just makes me wonder if WB plans on using Scott Adkins as a stunt double for him since they favor each other and offered him an audition.

Hmm... BatBen is pretty good. I've been hearing a lot of Bat-fleck.

Anyone have a preference?

**** like this is why many fanboys, comics fans, and cbm fans are ashamed to label themselves as such.

It isn't liking superheroes or collecting things associated with them that make people call us manchildren.

Its childish and petty **** like this. Essentially throwing a temper tantrum because you didn't get what you want/don't like what you got.

pathetic.

It's interesting. I have no middle ground on my opinion of this. I keep swinging back and forth from thinking that this is going to be a complete train-wreck of a casting choice to thinking that Affleck is going to own the role and completely surprise everyone who doubts him.

This is exactly where I'm at, though, I'm not going to lie.

If there was any actor throughout my life that I wanted to pummel of simply drag their face across the floor in sheer agony and punishment, it was Ben Affleck. Why? I do not know, he was just always had an "Adam Sandler" vibe going on about him that you would just like to punch.

On the other hand, however, this could be genius in the end and personally, by nature, I am totally a "glass is half full" type of person so I'm ready to ride this wave all the way until 2015!

If Affleck knocks it out of the park opposite Cavill and this movie lives up, then there would be nothing more than to see all these internet-haters come back and take their crow one by one (as they did Ledger) so...we'll see!

As for the petition, people need to get a damn life! Embarrassing.

My big issue personally, is that Affleck is no chameleon like a Gary Oldman...or a Christian Bale. I always see Affleck. So this movie, will be Affleck vs Superman basically. On the plus side, the man IS a good actor.

Just saying, there was a petition to get Michael Keaton removed back in the late '80s as well. :cwink:

Could I start a petition on Change.org to have Change.org remove those petitions?

So Ben's current/possible projects.

Man of Steel vs Batman
Batman solo films
JLA films
Bunker Hill (Warner Brothers)
The Stand (Warner Brothers)
Live by Night (Warner Brothers)
Whitey (Warner Brothers)
The Trade (I'm guess Warner Brothers is going to pick this up)

It almost seems that Affleck owns a piece of Warner Brothers

I'm mixed on this,I don't think he's that bad of an actor and does look the part..But I just never imagined him in a Batman movie as Bruce/Batman and there has been many great candidates,I guess we'll see and I'm not completely sold yet nor completely ****ting on the idea as others are.

Should be interesting to see the first official photo of him in the Bat suit!?So he's actually also co-writing and co-directing?..Hmm not sure IF that's a good or bad thing

Cranston better be Gordon :argh:
There's a casting decision I can fully support and get behind.
I just can't by Affleck in the Bat Suit and with the growling voice. I consider Affleck to be a bit too famous and infamous in a way. He isn't know to be that dark actor, like Bale was. Bale was unknown but also known and very underrated. Affleck is very overrated (in acting only). I was fine with Affleck directing JL, no sweat, but based on previous works and his acting career in my head, he is considered a joke to me. Worst choice I have heard in I think any comic book movie history.

His abilities as an actor hasn't changed dude. He just does much better movies.

as long as I don't see Affleck in this movie, just Batman and Bruce, I will be fine. But I don't think Affleck has the chops to make me not see Affleck!
I think many of the objections are from this line of thought. He comes with a lot of baggage as an actor and media presence. Sometimes coming off a bit like a *****ey fratboy at age 40. Sometimes like a humble working class guy trying to do good work.

But the point remains, he comes with a loaded personal image that will be very hard to separate from ANY character he plays. Choices like Bale make more sense because they have a history of good, solid character actor work in smaller budget films so they don't bring a lot of media baggage with them to the role. We can invest in the characters and believe in their performances. Sometimes the movie star thing can work, but we'll have to wait and see.
Wasn't Affleck also really close to starring "Year One", way back when??
I don't think so? I think he was in the running for the Superman reboot. I remember those years when the names tossed around were for both potential projects like Ashton Kutcher, Josh Hartnett, Affleck, and several other odd, weird or bad choices in general.

Hey, no need to pummel an actor. It's certainly not an easy thing that they do.

My worry with Affleck is that I've yet to see him truly becoming his character in a movie instead of just seeing Ben Affleck acting as _____ . Maybe this time will prove me wrong on that though.

Bens best stuff is when hes in the directors chair and the writing side of things not when hes being directed. Maybe drop snyder for affleck and have ben put more input on the script then i think ill be on board with that.

This times a million dude. Most give us fans a bad name. A bunch of cry babies. The over reactions sometimes are so over the top, you'd think it was some sort of real life crisis. It's an actor being cast for a movie. It's just ridiculous sometimes.

His past two films he has directed for them have all been universally acclaimed and his most recent film won Best Picture. I'm sure the power he has over there is comparable to Christopher Nolan.

ledger had two things in his corner:

1. he is a very good actor
2. he was not coming off the heels of nicholson's joker

ok, let's say affleck can improve #1...it is just WAY too soon for a new batman to be accepted after bale. this should've been a superman movie and now not only does superman get 2nd billing...so does cavill.

I have a feeling that they will use movie magic to make Cavill appear as tall as Affleck, because it would be weird to see Superman looking up to Batman.

I want a petition to get a Lois/Bruce romance going in WF. Ben is a bit older than Amy but I think the two could sizzle.
