Justice League Ben Affleck IS Bruce Wayne/Batman - Part 6

I enjoyed Gone baby gone and I laughed when Jeremy Renner sip his drink during the final confrontation in The Town.

Loved Renner in that movie, and really loved the tension in this scene.

Interesting. I had the opposite reaction. Coughlin, [BLACKOUT]knowing his death was imminent, wanted to experience something sweet/pleasurable for the very last time. It's a bit similar to granting a final request to a prisoner on death row.[/BLACKOUT] As such, I found the scene incredibly poignant, not to mention powerful AF.

Your GIF isn't loading for some reason (unless it's just me).

Yeah, GBG was great. I need to see it again.

The scene at the fence was intense, when Affleck's character said he wanted to leave. The way Renner played his character, I wasn't sure what he was going to do.

Yes. And that old florist too...goddamn. So f-ing intimidating.

Actually according to Jett (I know)

It's not up to Ben

and according to Daniel R - Hamada wants Ben, Reeves - not sure.

So if Ben does leave, it's

1) he wants to leave
2) Reeves showed him the door
3) mutual agreement

and my theory is Reeves doesn't have any incentive to keep Ben, so Ben's decision doesn't really matter at the end.

Still bombed about Jake though :csad:

Jett was never a Ben supporter.

If Hamada wants Ben to stay and Ben wants to continue, then I see no reason why Reeves will oppose, and it looks like Reeves may be out after one Batman movie, so I doubt how far WB is willing to go to accommodate his wishes.

My favourite Ben Affleck movie has to be The Town. I think Affleck does suspense and drama so ****ing well, its unreal to me. During some of the scenes, I was literally on the edge of my seat, and he made me care about characters I'd never care about. In Gone Baby Gone, not only were all the performances stellar, the moral ambiguity that was explored with such a difficult topic, was just masterful. I cant remember when a movie had left me so conflicted and with so much to unpack when it ended. And that had so many twists and turns, and it was done so well. Live By Night, at a technical level was exquisitely well made. From the production design to the cinematography to the acting and direction. It was all extremely well done. And finally Argo, which had one of the most tense scenes I've ever seen, and although at the back of your head you know the outcome, you're still sweating. And he balances all this elements of drama, suspense, humor, emotion and character moments so well, that at all times you are engrossed in the movie.

He to me is one of the best directors working today, and I certainly want to see more of his movies. I think crime thrillers are his specialty, and he would have made an amazing Batman movie. But I also trust Matt Reeves. He has shown that he can handle big budget blockbuster filmmaking(which Affleck hasnt) and still manage to make it a sophisticated adult story grounded in character and emotion, and tackle heavy themes. Add that to the fact he wants to make a neo-noir Batman movie that examines his psyche? Can it get more perfect? I DONT THINK SO :woot:

When I said I think Ben Affleck is a better filmmaker, it wasnt meant as a slight in any way. What I meant is we shouldnt have to choose between them as they dont have the same roles. We should be excited to have these two talented men working together on Batman. Make it happen WB!

Thanks for the long post man :woot:. I'll be sure to check out his films again some later time. I love Ben and I love crime thrillers, so I'm not sure why I haven't been able to get into his films just yet. I was looking for some opinion from people like y'all and see how you think, so thanks again!

I do feel bad that there were so many things happening in his life when he was writing the script for The Batman, which ultimately led him to leave his position as director and screenwriter. It would have been cool to see how that turned out. But for current situation, I'm very content with Matt Reeves. He's a talented filmmaker like you said, and also seems like a fanboy himself and is working hard to do Batman justice. If Reeves eventually chose Ben as Batman and Ben shows passion in the role again, then it's a win-win situation for all parties, me think.

Just saying. ;)

huh.

Got any hot scoop for us El Micromind? :oldrazz:

I'm pretty sure the goal is for a series of films...and Reeves looks like the type of person that walks if he doesn't get what he wants...

Lol, I've never claimed to have any. What if Reeves doesn't want to direct more than one Batman movie ? This is the impression I get from him, it has been a year since he got the directors gig, isn't it?

By now he should have started shooting.

Where in the world are you getting that from?

“I have ideas about an arc, but really, the important thing is just to start… you have to start with one”
Sounds like he’s down for more to me

If he didn’t want to do it, he wouldn’t be doing it.
