The Dark Knight BOF Report 4/17

Man, StorminNorman's gonna cry when he sees this thread.

Of course, we shouldn't be too hasty in throwing Bettany out. Yes, it seems likely, but it's not certain. First of all, I just noticed that where it says "may not be in the mix any longer" on BOF, the word may is italicized. So it's not definite that a name has been thrown out. Second of all, they didn't say who it is that's not in the mix. It's possible that Hulme had his screentest, and it wasn't very good so they're no longer considering him. Yeah, it's mostly wishful thinking, but so what? Until it's flat out said that Bettany isn't in the running, he's still my favorite. And if/when that happens, then Gyllenhaal is my pick.

I really doubt Hulme screen tested, bombed it, and then a couple of days later was named the front runner for the role. If anyone is out of the running, according to BOF, it's Bettany!!!!!!!

Unless of course this report is just like every other BOF report: a rumor.

if any website is somewhat realiable when it comes to Batman it's BOF!!!! I know you Bettany supportes all of a sudden are going be anit-BOF, but I bet you if BOF said that Hulme was no longer in the mix all the Bettany fans would be all over it!!!

Like the poster it's only a rumor and it should treated as such if you read above BOF News. I believe it when like they done it with Bale as Batman it read the word "OFFICIAL"

Thank you. I was just about to post the exact same thing. There is just as much of a chance that it is Hulme that is out, but more importantly, it is still just rumor. Usually when Jett has a rumor, especially one as large as a major contender dropping out, he will usually go to another source and see if they have heard the same thing. I am pretty much putting no stock in this new rumor (or on who it could be) until another of Jett's sources can confirm this.

Hulme has been "named" the frontrunner for the role for over a year now, it didn't just pop up after the supposed screentest. And you never know, that could have been 2 entirely different sources Jstt was talking to. One might not've even seen the screentest.

That is true, remember the Depp rumor on BOF and then a day later they siad Depp was a no go? I'm hoping Bettany is still in the mix even though I'm a Hulme supporter becuase if Hulme does not get it, then Bettany should not Gylennhaal!!!!!!

1)BOF isn't always spot on with its news.
2)I'm not anti-BOF, and I'm certaintly not a Bettany fanboy. I'm open to the casting of The Joker, so long as the guy they get has talent.

Well, both have been considered the major contenders for the role, but it has been stated by Jett for a LONG time now that Nolan wants Hulme. (by Nolan wanting him, I put Hulme ahead of Bettany as the frontrunner)

I don't know who the candidate could possibly be. But there's going to be a new female lead and not a love interest? Interesting...

My thoughts exactly, if Nolan want's Hulme then Nolan is going to get Hulme.

I'm rather glad about that. My dream seqeul would have no love interest, at least not for Batman (possibly a small one for Harvey and Gilda though)

Having no love intrest is a bold step but its one that's worth experimenting with.

I agree, no love interest for Batman for once would be great. Yeah something with Gilda would be good.

It'll be interesting if that's even possible. Wasn't a love interest one of the things that WB demanded be in BB?

Yeah, other then that they told Nolan he could do whatever else he wanted to with Begins. But hopefully they won't demand it this time. And if they do, they said just a love interest so it could be one for Harvey.

Its something I think all studios would want in a blockbuster

There was none in many blockbusters of 2005.

Goblet of Fire
Chronicles of Narnia
War of The Worlds
Chocolate Factory

etc

All of which made more then Batman Begins in the BO.

Would you have wanted to see a love interest between Wonka and Charlie?

I must say, this has been the perfect ending for a horrible day....

LOL!

Anyone else thought Wonka also looked like Michael Jackson...

Well to be fair those movies all were made from books, and so studious would of found it hard to add a love interest. However, IMO, a case could be made that GOF had enough romantic tension to qualify.
