Paramount seems to be mostly pussyfooting around what to do.
Also I think Disney would be a bit more harsh. Look at how they reacted to Solo.

Tbf, Solo had double the budget while earning less overall, while it's reception was just a meh 70% fresh, while Bumblebee was overwhelmingly acclaimed and almost universally lauded as possibly righting the franchise at that point.

Unfortunately the press is into the bandwagon approach of siding with whatever is most popular and condemning the rest.

Let's at least break the mold as fans of movies and comics to keep an open mind and not blindly side with a company as if we had a stake in their economy. We should collectively stop to admit we liked an unpopular movie and allow us and each other to have contrasting views and opinions based on OUR OWN tastes.

If this was Marvel, they'd see this as a goodwill film and disregard its earnings and treat it as a foundation to continue building something better.

Marvel did that in the beginning with Phase 1 building towards the Avengers. Since then, they really haven't had been put in a position to have to do that with a new IP. If Eternals or Shang Chi, only makes $300M, then let's see what Marvel will do. Otherwise, all the other future films, BW, GOTG3, BP2 and DS2 will cruise.

On top of that, the only thing the Batgirl movie has is a script by Christina Hodson.
The same Christina Hodson that just made 2 films that underperformed at the box office (Bumblebee and this film)
There's not really any good reason to move forward with it.

That says more about film goers than Hodson imo.

If only some media outlets would spend an equal amount of time writing and putting out articles that celebrate the merits of the movie to grab people's attention and encourage it to do better rather than apparently revel in and profit off of its less than stellar box office. If only.

People here might not wanna here it but embracing a shared universe is the way to go if these lesser known projects are to succeed. Till then the DC brand will remain a non factor for the general audience

I don't understand why more people don't see this. I mean sure, you get the few 1 outta 10 who wants DC to stay at their current course making these unique films, but those other 9 wants to see an epic proper JL team up, and that doesn't happen without a shared universe.

This is one unfortunate disadvantage of keeping everything separate. Aquaman and Joker can make over a billion, Wonder Woman not far behind, and still the next film has almost no support and can make very little if the marketing isn’t right and sequels can then be under threat. What I loved about the comics is that everything can eventually get a chance as the universe itself wrote the cheques to support all kinds of properties.

They do that all the time for flims in general, but comic book properties are hot right now, so whenever one opens cold it's easy to get fans riled up by creating click-bait headlines.

Christina Hodgeson's work isn't the issue here, heck, the whole creative team did their part, can't ask for more from them. They're obviously keen to get her to write the Flash movie, which should have moderate budget and a proper marketing campaign, and not R rated, lol

That's why there's still life in this thing, it's not like it's getting SS reviews and BOP box office at the same time.

i think we all wanna see an epic JL film where Superman, Batman, WW and co. are going up against Braniac or Darkseid, but what I dont want is for it to be a carbon copy of the MCU. I like that the DC movies have freedom and can be unique because as revolutionary as the MCU had been, the recurring weakness we always talk about is the directors and creative teams have too many restrictions because they have to follow a plan.

Even with the news of Raimi taking on DS2, while we’re all excited, theres a level skepticism as to how much of the movie will really be Raimi’s. Because imagine an alternate universe where Sam Raimi made a Doctor Strange movie from scratch. A movie not tethered to any cibematic universe, just...a movie about Doctor Strange like he did with Spiderman. That would be a HELL of a film. Thats what im digging about DC. Theyre letting people go nuts with the material and it may not always work but at least theyre swinging for the fences.

its not impossible. BoP’s only hope is that it has great wom and it legs it like The Last Showman or Jumanji, movies that opened low but shockingly were still in theaters two months later making money.

Those are December movies though.
I'm gonna be optimistic and say that it reaches anywhere from 220 million - 250 million. Maybe a bit more. Still loses money tho but not as much
Worst case scenario it doesn't even reach 200 million.

Wow after finally seeing the movie it's even more of shame that it bombed, because damn is it a lot of fun. I honestly don't even know what to blame for it either, because it's actually a lot closer to the movie the trailers promised than I was expecting, and that is exactly what some were saying here and now I get it. Maybe general audiences just weren't all that interested in a Harley Quinn spinoff movie after all or didn't know she was really in it with her name being almost hidden in that extremely long and unnecessary title.

Releasing the embargo two days before the film drop , droppin 2 lackluster trailers didnt help, WB is strugglin hard to promote their films, there's alot of drama right now surrounding kong vs godzilla, the budget is enormous & godzilla king of the monsters flopped last year..,they have no idea what to do

Criticizing Marvel for not giving directors creative freedom while championing DC for allowing creative freedom, is laughable and objectively wrong that I don't think it needs any of that "rebuttal" you posted above.
