Bought/Thought for May 19, 2010 - SPOILERS

I can't wait to see what kind of rating it pulled, it sounds like a LOT of people tuned in.

I just heard on the radio that 13 million people watched it, and 9 million watched the Celebrity Apprentice Finale.

I never watched Lost so I know nothing about it. But it sounds like you guys are happy with the ending. Good deal.

crazy double posting action.

Also, I edited your post to spoilerfy it, boulder. Since Lost has nothing to do with comics, let's try to avoid or at least spoiler-tag plot-specific spoilers for people who may not have seen the finale but want to talk about comics.

If someone didn't make plans to be in front of their TV last night, they weren't a fan. Plain and simple. But I hear ya, no biggie.:word:

It pulled it in its average viewer rate, which apparently was a disappointment since final episodes of popular series are suppose to pull in much bigger numbers than the average. Oh well, it still did decently rating-wise.

I, too, was fine with the ending. I'm surprised there's been as much positive feelings as I'm hearing, I was thinking people would be a lot more mixed towards it.

I read all of X-Men Forever, and I sincerely doubt I'll be picking up vol. 2. It hasn't been that satisfying a What If? story fer me.

Tron, LOVE your new avatar! I seriously need to get a new one some day.

I wouldn't expect a huge viewership to watch the final episode, as it's not like "M.A.S.H." back in the day, where you can watch any episode without feeling like you missed something. Every year, Lost lost viewers; and, if you gave up on the show in Season 3, or never watched it before (which I hear from a lot of people), why see a confusing ending?

Are there still some mysteries never answered? Yep, like what happened to Jacob's cabin. Do I really believe at the beginning of Season 1 that this is what JJ Abrams had imagined for his series? No way. I think they made stuff up as they went along much of the time. Still, with too many bad series finales....or series that get cancelled without wrapping up the show with a final episode...I'm extremely satisfied.

Now, I hope NBC shells out the bucks for a 2-4 hour Heroes conclusion movie.

Isn't Lost much more Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse's baby than JJ Abrams'? I got the impression that Abrams was very hands-off with it and didn't contribute much more than early concepts and directing the pilot.

Damon wrote the script and ABC asked J.J to read it and see if he like to produce. He's pretty much like Speilberg. He gives a few ideas, and slaps his name on it to make extra money, while mostly staying away from the project until he has time.

Same for me. I'll complete the run but that's it. I was in there for Gambit and he's been tepid at best, only one or two panels per book, if that. It's been a huge disappointment. :(

Three more before new comics come tomorrow.

Her-oes #2

Hopefully there will be more of the Her-oes adventures after this 4-part mini is done. This comic, which mainly focuses on Janet Van Dyne, is very much like Spider-Man Loves Mary Jane. We learn this issue that the three superpowered girls, Namora, Janet, and Jennifer Walters, aren't all together at this school by accident. The question is who is behind them all living in the same town, and why they all have been brought there. The book combines humor and action with teenage angst very effectively. :yay::yay:

Legion Of Super-Heroes #1

Paul Levitz is back after a 20+ years absence from these characters, and the first issue was entertaining enough. My problem in reviewing Legion titles is that it usually takes me a few issues before I really get into them, as each new writer tends to focus on certain characters more than others. Plus, Legion has such a vast history, that new (and old) readers might be a bit confused as to what's happening and who is who. (Heck, I can't tell all the Brainiacs apart.)

Some of the action this issue stems from the events in Superman And The Legion Of Super-Heroes and in Final Crisis: Legion Of Three Worlds. Paul Levitz does his best to explain some of these things at the end of the first issue with a full page column; but, even though I read both stories, I couldn't remember some characters, like Earth-Man (who plays a huge role in this first issue). Still, I quickly caught on, as the important factors are explained well enough.

Two big events happen this issue: 1) The destruction of Titan and 2) Earth-Man becoming a Green Lantern. Both are handled superbly by Levitz...but, that's to be expected. He knows these characters well. :yay::yay:

Amazing Spider-Man Presents: American Son #1

Decent first issue, with only one major complaint. The story references a story that will appear in Age Of Heroes #2, which hasn't come out yet. It would have been nice not to have the spoiler for that and been able to read it before this was read. It's nice to see what Harry is up to, and good to see some of the secondary storylines being addressed, mainly Harry moving in with MJ. :yay:

LOST was amazing. I loved it and want it to be the next Star Trek with a LOST: The Next Generation... a new group of people come to the island for one reason or another and we get further developments of old island mysteries and more to come. More people mysteries. Maybe an adult Walt is a part of it [blackout]searching for his dad, which would be need since Michael is still stuck on the island as one of the whisper people[/blackout].

Oh, I would not want to see that. I think Lost is a show that needs to end and stay ended.

But if we were going to get a spinoff, I nominate [blackout]a cartoon following the wacky misadventures of Hurley and Ben[/blackout]. :D

The one show I could see would be Sawyer and Miles in a slightly humorous buddy/cop show. Sawyer seemed to fit right into that role.

Yeah, I think, knowing what we know now about the ending, [blackout]the other characters might've subconsciously given Sawyer that job in Heaven's waiting room because of how far he'd grown from the cynical jerk that he started out as. He became a really selfless, heroic character and a good man, and the ultimate expression of that for a criminal would be to place him on the right side of the law.[/blackout]
