like I've said so many times before, I never go by Critics, I go by what I like, I don't need to be told what to see, and if there's a movie I want to see I look up the Synopsis not what Critic's have to say.
The ONLY one at AICN that I trust is Moriarty, I don't even go to Tomatoe's site.
I liked Elektra, DD, Man-Thing, I think they were all well done. I like ALL movies and I watch them with an open mind.

^ Tomatoes is a good site. The rating for each film is not the score but the % of critics who were positive or negative. If there's 200 critics and 195 are negative it's probably not worth it to go see it. I never let reviewers stop me from going to see a film I really want to see though. The only place I really listen to critics is video games. I won't buy a video game that has an average score under 80% and really only prefer those of 85% or higher.

I don't listen to movie critics period.

I watch what I want to watch, anytime I want to watch it. Anybody who wants to give me an opinion can wait until after I see it. 'nuff said.

Well games to me are a different story. If there game isn't free roaming in some way I normally won't play it.
I used ti LOVE Ultima before it went online, now that's the only way you can play it! I used to love the MINIMUM hour play was 100 hours.

This movie does not have the same amount of hype as Daredevil, Daredevil was everywhere and came out after the 400 million dollar Spider- Freakin- Man movie! Their was tons more interest because of that movie. The only thing that could offset the fact that GR doesn't have three buzzed about actors and a 400 million dollar beloved comicbook movie that creates interestin the genre, is Cage, but even that is iffy after Wickerman and awful T.V spots that make the movie look like a comedy.

Looking at inflation to make your predictions is always iffy and could lead you in the wrong direction. Alot of Superman fans (and myself) said that it's impossible for Superman to make under 250mil because he is a really popular superhero and his first two movie sold X amount of tickets, hell alot of fans said that it wouldn't make under 275mil and it most likely would gross over 300 million dollars, when all was said and done the movie didn't touch those numbers. The Batman Begins prediction threads are a prime example of overpredicting because of ticket sales, I don't know how many people called my 190mil prediction dumb because of it or how many people predicted 300 to 400 million dollars! Honestly that prediction thread was worse than the Superman one, far worse. Daredevil was released in a different cliement/better market, there is no telling how low...or high GhostRider will go because of the factors I keep mentioning. It has way more against it than for.

WEll Box office mojo says Superman Returns has made a total of 394 Million dollars, thats 20 million more than Batman Begins.

Thats pretty damn good if you ask me.

Well alot of people thought FF was going to bomb, but, if it was sooo bad, why did so many people see it?
I see many people will be seeing this film, then word of mouth will send more people into the theaters.

It'll made 30-40 million at the B.O. at the least.
This isn't just wishful thinking, as everytime I see the Ghost Rider teaser/trailer in the theater, people seem amazed, as well as say "Ohhh" or "Damn" when Johnny Blaze's helmet hits the tire. This is a very interesting and new concept to the general audience.

I think it'll make over 120 million, domestically.
This may be a sleeper hit in disguise.

Besides, I am sure that MSJ knows what he was doing.
Sony doesn't butcher their superhero movies like Fox (Damn Rothman). :cmad: :down

It is...:word:

And my opinion on critics is that they are only what you make them. I have to say that I don't care much at all for critics, because they only tell you what THEY think of a film...but it's your choice...either you like it, or you don't. Don't let others decide for you. Critics are basically only there for people who don't know a lot about film and etc., but trust me...the critic is never right. YOU are the only one who decides whether or not you like a film.

Here's Hoping For AT LEAST $50 Million For GR In It's Opening Weekend!!!:wow::woot:

With strong critical reception/positive reviews, along with strong interest, this film may be very successful.

It's not like Bridge to Terabithia (or however you spell it) is direct competition however it will take some bucks away as some kids pull their parents away from GR. LOL

Even with that GR should break records as will the weekend itself.

GR has very little competition that weekend, which is nice. Some movies like Rocky and Smokin' Aces actually moved away from this one over the course of the past months, so that says something.

Either way, I agree with AD, this'll break some sort of records... for that weekend at the very least.

I think GR is going to do just fine on it's first weekend...maybe even better as it progresses.

But sadly, 300 will drown it when March 9th arrives. I know so many people who want to see 300...my brother especially. My best friend, who actually is a big GR fan, has even said that he thinks 300 will do better business and actually BE better than GR...but I don't know.

Of course 300 is going to be an absolutely amazing film, but I have been anticipating GR for far longer than 300...they will both be great blockbusters.

These films are front loaded. March 9th is far away in box office terms. However 300 might be super popular here on the boards but I doubt it will be very big at the box office. Maybe Hellboy type #'s at best. If it breaks 100 million I'd be shocked whereas GR shouldn't have a problem doing that.

Well, March 9th is only 3 weeks away from GR...so 300 can easily take it to the top then.

But GR will have it's fair share of $. :woot:

Those DJ's are ignorant obviously. The public will eat this one up because of how visually amazing the trailers are. Remember Howard Stern saying how good Elektra was. LOL

I remember him saying it was "better than Daredevil" when asked what he thought of it by Robin or someone. I think a little later he said he didn't want to bash it because it was a sponsor but that it had "lots of problems".

I agree with a lot of what you wrote.

I love the ole "my friends think that movie looks really awesome and want to see it, that means Spider-Man numbers!"

Thats what the Superman fans said...amazing how that turned out, aint it?

Baby Hannibal is coming out the week before and a spy thriller is coming out head to head with Ghost Rider. Add "Bridge" and Eddie Murphy to the mix and tickets will be diluted. I seriously hope I'm wrong but GR will break no records. I do think it'll win the box office battle of the weekend but there's just too much competition. Either I'm pulling extra hard for Ghost Rider or else there seems to be more quality films released this February then EVER before.

Rotten Tomatoes has a great general movie forum (similar to this) but I never even bother to check out their front page or their Tomatometer rating. Their sampling is too broad and pointless. They sample frustrated "critics" who are nothing more then average fans snipping away at their computers. I honestly don't care what Willie Waffle (WaffleMovies.com) or Brian Orndorf (OhmyNews.com) or Dustin Putman (TheMovieBoy.com) thinks. These are actual "critics" on RT.

I hate RT. Their ratings never (and I mean never) reflect how I personally feel about any movie. None. I've never seen a rating there that reflected me. I find that odd and therefor hardly visit the place anymore.

Yeah, I haven't seen any commercials for that movie so i'm sure that GR will win the weekend.

i hope it does well, but i would think it would make close to 50 million for 4 days. and hopefully it makes enough to make a sequel. all the ghost rider figures, statues and collectibles are awesome from what i've seen so far!

no way this ***** does 85 million 4 days adavcnced....LOL1

Im thinking 38 4 day, 110 total if its good.

this is nothing like superman. superman had an enormous concentrated marketing push; while this films had decent marketing. superman didnt get 250 cause f pirates 2. if it opened on say june 23rd, it would have. but wb=******s. the hype for daredevil was a lot higher but i think this will be far more crowd pleasing than that piece. this wot open as high as daredevil but if its good itll top it with little competition in feb.
