^ That's what happened to Daredevil where the film was tracking higher and actually brought in less than New Regency & Fox expected. They were looking for about 50 million. The storm then was massive and have an effect.

What massive effect? The moive still brought in 45 million during the height of a major snowstorm on the east coast. The weather will be fine enough by Friday to have no real effect on Ghost Rider's box office. Also, What's Bridge to Terebithia's theater count gonna be? Is it really coming out in as many theaters as Ghost Rider?

It had a huge effect on the box office on the East Coast which is the most densel populated area of the country. Yeah it "still" brought in 45 million but it would have brought in 5-10% more that weekend which to you might seem small but it's huge in dollars to the studio.

Daredevil's first-weekend take was still record-breaking for a President's Day weekend. See, the thing about Daredevil was, everyone had ridiculously high expectations for the film, and a prediction of 50 million for an opening weekend in February, I don't even know why the studio would come up with such a number. Basically, they wanted the movie could ride on the popularity of Spider-Man. But Fox already had X-Men locked for summer.

I'm not saying it didnt' do good, I'm saying the storm had an impact. It does'nt matter if it broke records cause that wasn't my point. In any event I expect Ghost Rider to break the Presidents Day record, and I think it'll pull in over 20 million on Friday.

Any other Friday estimates out there.

[SIZE=-1]"Ghost Rider'' isn't the only movie debuting this week that's been shielded from
critics. "Tyler Perry's Daddy's Little Girls'' opened cold yesterday, which is
somewhat unusual for a Wednesday opening, since the reviews will run ...

My predictions:

$ 12 million opening day.
$ 32 million 3-day weekend.
$ 35 million 4-day weekend.
$ 80 million domestic total.
$ 150 million worldwide total.

i'm gonnna say 8 million friday... and a chance at losing the overall weekend to norbit's second week.

I just saw the official theatre count...

Ghost Rider (Sony / Columbia) / 3,619

That's a damn good number.

final predictions

12.5 friday
13.3 saturday
10.3 sunday
6.9 mon

Looking at some of these advanced sales, this might challenge Daredevil's $45 million opening.

I'm expecting around $45M as well. Critic reaction won't hurt this film much, and I bet word of mouth will go around to the doubters and they'll catch it too.

The film isn't dark enough to really scare kids and I think the kids will eat up the visuals. They played the comedic moments in the trailers to probably ease some peoples minds into knowing it's a fun film and not gory or anything like that.

15 Mil on Friday....

http://boxofficemojo.com/daily/chart/

Calculating based off the multipliers of Daredevil and Constantine, this will most likely make 40 mil by the time the weekend is out, all in all, a success for ghost rider. Which according to my projections means that the movie will barely crack 100 mil, tapering off at about 105 mil.

It looks like Ghost Rider could end up with a box office trajectory very similar to Daredevil. Now, of course GR has a production budget about $ 40 million higher than Daredevil, so exactly what level of success it'll ultimately have in terms of return on investment remains to be seen. As always, legs and foreign box office will be the next crucial steps in the story.

I honestly can not see many people wanting to go to the movies this weekend after a full week of snow storms :ninja:

You also should factor in inflation...

Daredevil Released now total domestic gross would be: $110,976,373

--- However how many tickets is a more precise measurement....

For the opening weekend... Daredevil sold an estimated 6,684,978 tickets... If Ghost Rider follows the same trajectory it will have sold 6,079,027... So according to that DD will have sold 600,000 more tickets this weekend then Ghost Rider.

I don't want rain on the parade since it still an achievement for such a dark character who's not that well known to make this much money, also have to factor in DVD sales.

^ Yeah because watching a movie is exhausting.

What was Daredevil's competion? I don't think it followed a week after a box office hit like Norbit and opened up against a film like Tarabithia...did it?

^ Yeah because watching a movie is exhausting.

If that was a response to my quote Advanced Dark I only said that because after a week of nothing but snow storms I am sure people would have better things to do then see a movie. You know like go outside get some fresh air etc

Also things to consider is most people were ranking GR at 30-40 mil, and it seems like it's going surpass that goal, Box Office Report ranked it as low as 31 mil for the weekend.

Showbiz Data says 15.9 million.
