Breaking Bad - Part 1

Does anyone think Walt will ever be able to redeem himself in any way? Or does he just have death waiting for him? Will he accomplish any good? And yes, I know the show is called Breaking Bad, but just wondering if anyone believes Walt can do some good.

For those that still wonder or would like to know S4 of BB will be on instant on the 15th. Same day as the premiere.

Those BB comics are goddamn hilarious.

That's good, too bad I just finished season 4 a couple mins ago.
I am ready! :woot:

Dish Network dishes out free Roku 2 boxes due to AMC spat | Digital Trends

I just called Dish threatening to cancel and switch to local cable after reading that ^. They gave me:

-- A $10.50 discount on my bills for the next 6 months
-- A $35.00 credit so I can purchase Breaking Bad (the show I specifically called to complain about) from Amazon Videos and,
-- A Roku 2 box to stream from

This is what Dish gives us for essentially losing one channel. I wonder what DirecTV will give for losing several channels?

No I don't think so this show is about a good man's descent into evil. It's not impossible but that's not the story this show is telling as for as Walt goes. Now Jesse on the other hand I can see being redeemed.

Metacritic has 3 reviews so far, all positive, all giving season five a score of 100/100

Excited :D

It's just so depressing that this season is so short. I'm sure that means there will be no fatty filler, but really, Breaking Bad has never had that.

Isn't it 3 episodes longer than every other season besides the first?

S1 - 6 episodes?
S2-4 - 13 episodes

Could be wrong, it's been a while (only re-watched S4), but there's always more than 8 episodes.

I don't buy into this "16" episode season. We get 8 now, and then 8 more a year from now (milking it). That's essentially two seasons. AMC is run by clowns. All they care about is ratings, which is amazing considering they let Wiener and Gilligan run free. So maybe they're not clowns in the traditional sense?

It is 16 episodes. Those 16 episodes make up the 5th season, they were written as the 5th season, they were filmed as the 5th season, and they will be released as the 5th season. Every show has a break and Breaking Bad's definitely won't be a year. Walking Dead was split in two and the gap was less than 3 months.

Every network only cares about ratings. That's what networks do.

Season 5 is 16 episodes.

You have Aaron Paul on twitter claiming that S5 is 8 episodes and the new season will be next year. Regardless, even if they bill it as one season, we are still only getting 8 episodes this year.

So, short season. I'm not complaining; I'm just an addict who wants more.

MOAR.

The main point that I should have made more clear is that up until now AMC has never split the seasons up like this. Correct?

It's lame that they're doing it in the show's finale season. I guess that was part of the negotiations when everything went to hell with Mad Men and The Walking Dead.

And I'm pretty sure they said the show won't be returning for its second half of the season until next summer. Someone please tell me I'm wrong. I doubt it's going to be 3 months like The Walking Dead...

I'm just dreading whatever awful cliffhanger they've got in store for us to make us suffer for the year.

Absolutely nothing.

EIGHT reviews on Metacritic now, all giving Season 5 a score of 100/100. This is starting to become unprecedented.

HBO and FX have done it, USA and TNT do it. It's nothing new having a show's season split up.

We've discussed before they treated it as a fifth season on the production side, the cast and crew get one raise but AMC gets to sell 2 DVD sets, build the audience even more between the hiatus so the ratings rise next summer and get to collect more awards and nominations.

If your suggestion was to air all 16 in a row and my suggestion was to split them into 2 seasons, you would be fired from AMC. That's just how the business is.

They wrote and shot the first eight episodes, took a production break, and are writing the final eight episodes now - so in the end it was perhaps better for the series to have the 8 episodes scheduled for next year so they could just focus on a shorter season. While it may be annoying now, I'd rather have another year of anticipation and hold back on ending Breaking Bad.

I'm not suggesting showing 16 episodes in a row. That's unheard of these days. I'm just saying they've spent four seasons with the same episode model, why change it up now?

Meh. It's just the year wait that bothers me. I can't call it one season when episodes are an entire year apart. Just call it two seasons and be done with it.

First season had 9 episodes ordered but only 7 were filmed because of the Writer's Strike.

All we can do is wait and enjoy.

^ They're going to have it Sunday.

I may just DVR season 5 and watch an ep of 4 each week then start 5 so that the year wait isn't so long.
