Breaking Bad - Part 14

I just remember the last emmy's airing at the same time as one of the last BB episodes and I believe a season is only eligible once it has finished airing? there were still a few eps left after the last emmy's.

Well, that can't be right, because otherwise how could the first part of Season 5 be nominated if a season is only eligible after it's finished? I think the context of a split season has to be considered with a series being that close to the end by Emmy's time. Guess there's no way to know until next year's Emmys, but I somewhat doubt it'll happen

It'll be eligible. When they had them this last time Anna Gunna won for the season that aired in 2012. The last 8 episodes haven't even gone to the awards yet. That will be later this year, just like they planned when they split the season in the first place. That was basically the entire reason AMC split it up, to qualify for Emmys two years in a row

The split wasn't for award reasons. It was for financial reasons, though not the financial reasons most people assume.

EDIT: I'm sure the airing was probably do intentionally to concise with awards, but I'm talking about the initial reasons.

It'll still be eligible. If you are trying to tell me that the final episodes of what is being hailed as the best television series of all time are gonna miss their final Emmys I dunno what to tell ya. There's no way AMC would ever let that happen. They would have changed the schedule to fit for eligibility before anything. If these last 8 episodes were to not be eligible it would be a ****ing travesty. Cuz you know it's just gonna sweep them. Aaron and Bryan are probably already shoe ins

Critics have already said it doesn't matter what a show does this season, there's no way any show tops Breaking Bad's last eight. You could make an argument that another show could've won versus Season 5A but if there was ever a lock for Outstanding Drama it is Breaking Bad Season 5B.

It kinda annoys me seeing BB get broken down into "seasons". The thing is that there technically are no "seasons" from a story standpoint. The series is essentially a book told in the television medium. Every "season" picks up where the last one left off in the same way you go from chapter 17 to chapter 18 in a book (the numbers are just an example).

Also, I miss this show so much :csad:. Vince Gilligan didn't just create my favorite TV show of all time; he created a masterpiece that will stay with me forever.

I'm still trying to find time to rewatch the whole series, I needs dat Vince Baby Blue!

Sorry, but did I comment on the quality of the show? Did I say, No way BB is getting nominated again, 'cause it's the sux.' That doesn't have anything to do with what I'm saying. All I'm saying is that due to the nature of the final season, I could see them not nominating it and considering this win for the fifth season as a while as opposed to doing it in parts. I'm not saying that it absolutely won't get nominated, no way, no how. But I can see reasons for why it won't based on how it was produced and aired, which is devoid of anything about how 'BB is the greatest thing ever made!!!!!' or whatever

If it's eligible it will be nominated no question. To my knowledge and from hearing from others here and elsewhere it still meets all the requirements to be nominated for this years emmys.

It's not so much as to the definition of a season but more so when the episodes aired. These last 8 aired during the nomination period for this years emmys, the 2012 episodes aired during the 2013 nomination period.

The question is will BB being off the air for so long compared to its competition affect its chances to walk away with the win? the same goes for the actors who would be nominated as well.

That's kind of a non-issue now that the whole series is out there, isn't it?

Guys, season 5A was last years emmys and season 5B is elgible for this year's. It's as simple as that.

She was so embarassing in the beginning. :lmao:

Nah, I prefer it blended together.

Yea it looks better. It'd look better if it was actually on the pictures though

Who says I was replying to you? I was just saying critics, the ones watching all the shows don't see how it loses next year.

The eligibility runs from June 1 to May 31.

It seemed a pretty easy association, I guess? You chimed about a topic I was talking about directly afterward, so I didn't think that it was a random comment. If it was, my bad.

And I'm aware of eligibility. In fact,

That doesn't seem right. Season 5.1 aired in 2012, 5.2 aired in 2013.

EDIT: I looked it up, and yeah, I guess you are right, the Emmys nominate from June 1 to May 31, so I guess it could. I somewhat doubt it will, though. I think they'll look at the win as a win for the season as a whole, but it'd be cool if they got nominated again.

From last page. I'm not sure exactly where people seem to think I was talking whether or not these episodes had eligibility. Clearly, they do. I was just speculating on reasons in which they might not considering the nature of the season's airing. I never said that they couldn't be nominated, nor that they wouldn't. We won't know for sure until later in the year.

That was such an awesome moment. Seeing Jesse finally stand the **** up and handle business

If one of the most critically acclaimed shows of all time is eligible for its final episodes to be nominated, there is just no way they will not be nominated.
