*inhales*

Here we go, almost time. I can handle it!

Been rewatching all of the series and I'm on season 4...Idk why I did it so early...Its just making me less patient :(

Yeah I did a marathon a couple months back and was hoping to do another one soon but I guess I'll wait a little more before I do it.

That mask looks like someone beheaded Cranston.

Kinda creepy looking.

Well, now that I've rewatched all of Season 4, I don't understand some of the complaints about Season 5. The first half is paced exactly the same as the first half of Season 4. It's too bad people will be less inclined to judge it as a whole due to the split. Ah well.

A main complaint I understand is the final episode where Walt accomplishes so much in one episode. The majority of the things he and Jesse have to do in past seasons were always shown to have some complications, even the little things. They could never catch a break, it was always something messing up they had to clean up.

But in the end Walt manages to kill everyone of Mike's men and also expand the meth empire overseas. Three months pass and everything has been gravy.

Look at it like this, the last year of Walt's life has been a hurricane. That calm three month period is just the eye of the storm. ;)

That's just it though, after 4 and a half seasons worth of work, Walt finally gets everything he wanted. He finally lives up to Heisenberg's reputation. The tragedy is that he ends up not satisfied by this, and as soon as he gets out of the busines
Hank finds out who he is.

By having things go so smoothly, not only do we get a very clear sense of just how far Walt has come since day 1, but it also makes the aftermath of Walt's dreams coming true even more tragic.

That's the point though. The reason all of that stuff was just in a montage was precisely because everything went smoothly and according to plan. Like Brain Damage said, the point of all that is that Walt finally had everything he ever wanted; He finally became "King Heisenberg". The problem is that it wasn't satisfying to him. He had a mountain of money he couldn't spend and tremendous power he couldn't do anything with.

It works for me because Dexter is early. My Sundays are always so jammed... :p

I'm not really sure what benefit they gain from premiering in August rather than July.

If it wasn't for AMC's stinginess we would have actually gotten 2 final seasons of 13 episodes instead of this 8 and 8 which will end off the series.

I thought the plan has been only 5 seasons for quite some time now?

I definitely think the split was unnecessary. The first half is clearly not meant to stand on its own, and I always find it unfair that people are comparing an incomplete season to other completed seasons. Of course it doesn't match up yet. All the truly crazy **** happens at the end. That's how it's always been for 4 seasons now.

Vince Gilligan requested the split. AMC and Sony negotiated the 16 episodes but it was Vince who wanted to focus just on the first 8 because he didn't want to be burnt out or writing the final batch of episodes while filming was going on. He had the luxury and opportunity to do it so he did.

From what i understood it was a financial compromise. AMC wanted to give just one more season but giligan wanted at least 2 to finish so they met at 16 episodes to be split over 2 seasons.

AMC is notorious for its cost cutting the creators of Mad Men and the Walking Dead have also had money drama with the network.

I know at one point AMC was just offering 8 and Sony wanted 18.

AMC has to have some really dumb people behind the scenes. I can't wait until these shows end, because then they will have nothing. But that's what you get for being greedy.
