I was watching some of seasons 3 and 4 earlier and it hit me that most of the characters seem to switch positions very frequently throughout the series. If you watch the scenes from this past week between Hank and Jesse and Hank's attitude towards Jesse throughout the episode it seems to go through each stage of his relationship with Walt.

Been re-watching the godfather trilogy recently and there are definitely some character parallels between Michael Coreleone and Walt. Looking back at all the scarface comparisons at the beginning seems a little hollow now, he's much more michael than tony montana imo.

I dunno. It just depends how you look at it. Tony and Walt both come from nothing and just take the world by storm and build their very own empires. I still have never seen Godfather 3 but I presume the parallels are more in line with that installment than one or two.

Well Tony was introduced as a "bad guy" a criminal who just wanted to make it. Both walt and Michael are introduced as relatively good guys who through circumstances (family ties, disease) end up as criminals making progressively harsher actions as time goes by and those actions having big effects on the women of their lives who wished they weren't criminals.

Part III is essentially Michael paying for his sins, something that has been hinted walt will be doing by the end of this season. The end of part II was sort of like the end of S4 with both characters coming out on top as victors but still feeling somewhat hollow.
