Okay, I like Brie Larson and all, but where does all of this sudden interest in Charlize Theron for Carol Danvers originate? Up until recently, I hadn't heard much buzz, if any, but that's more so because I haven't followed casting news on this film outside of Larson.

Why Captain Marvel’s Kelly Sue DeConnick Is “Psyched” About Brie Larson Being Cast

I thought it was a good and fair assessment from her especially regarding the outrage regarding Brie's age (not here but mostly in places like Tumblr, etc.). I mean, it is what it is. Most of us agreed that while it would be great, a 30+ (especially mid to higher 30s) actress most likely won't happen anyway.

Because Charlize is one of the best actors out there and looks the part. People who are fans of CM and want to see a great SH movie with a woman lead, want to see something special. She could easily go toe to toe with ANYONE in MCU.....make that ANY actor.

Besides that, prolly no reason......

I have full confidence that Brie will kill it.

No helmet....please....no helmet. Long hair and some kind of Kree war suit. It wouldn't be hard to borrow from Kelly's CM suit (which I rather like) AND make some killer Kree garb.

the '79 Cockrum outfit is classic, but as interpreted by today's artists who draw the female form in a certain way, is "obviously" problematic for film purposes.

what has brie Larson been up until now? how many films has she signed for?

how will her introduction deal with Mar-Vell, if at all?

I like her choice of the 1983 Kathleen Turner.
Wonder how many of the Carol Corps calmed down after reading her opinion approving the actress of choice.

Its too bad that some of the male posters here just can't fap to pictures of Carol as Captain Marvel. But, maybe that's kind of the point, huh? The Captain Marvel costume is meant to be empowering. Look women can wear pants too. I want my heroes showing up like here to fight, and not be seen as mere eye candy.

I agree. Marvel Comics has gone from one extreme to the other. Why are they so incompetent? Is it the editor's fault? What's the deal? The way Anka drew her in some variant covers makes her look more manly than ever and I'm not even talking about the hair.

Yeah, there's absolutely no way MS would ever force that outfit on their long-awaited first female lead.
"There you go, little girls all around the world! Finally a girl superhero you all can identify with. Hope to see many of you dressed up like her next Halloween!"

Not to mention that there are no logical reasons for a character like Carol to wear that costume (were there ever?), and imho few things are more suspension of disbelief-shattering than characters wearing clothes that make no sense for them. It's called visual storytelling. What a fictional person "chooses" to wear can tell a lot about his/her personality and the world s/he inhabits.

Long story short, hell no to that costume. Use your brain instead of the pe[BLACKOUT]lv[/BLACKOUT]is and please think of the children.

I like her current costume more or less, but I think Anka's tweak did add some unflattering stitching, and the boots and gloves are kinda ugly
my fave is the costume right after she started going by 'Captain'

I want to see Anka's Captain Marvel on screen.

Maybe I'm underestimating her but I'm not sure Larson has the physique to pull off the awesomely imposing Anka's Carol. We've also established a few threads ago that short haircuts are wrong for her face shape, so there.

Lopez's Carol on the other hand seems like a far more attainable goal to me, and that definitely includes the goofy expressions.
