Sequels Bryan Singer on the Future of the X-Men Franchise...and possibly an X-Men 4

Like the titles weren't already messed up?

X-Men
X2: X-Men United
X-Men: The Last Stand
X-Men Origins: Wolverine

"First Class" very much sounds like a story Singer would want to tell. He loves the whole Xavier/Magneto relationship, but it makes me wonder how much focus the young X-Men will actually get. Hopefully 50/50.

Singer seems a lot more interested in "First Class" because he basically gets to start fresh. X4 will have a lot of pre-existing baggage tied down to it due to the events of X3, and I just don't know how appealing that would be for him. We'll see...

First Class can work great if they pick up the story right from the end of the young Magneto/Nazi scene of X1. Who better to tell that tale then Singer? It could combine elements from X-Men, Valkyrie and Apt Pupil. Watching young Magneto tear up some Nazis and meet Xavier thrills me more then the thought of an X4 at this point.

Not to invite death threats around here by actually praising Fox but they certainly have the right batting order in place. Wolverine 2 in Japan, First Class, Deadpool then X4.

If they pick up after that scene we won't get Jean, Beast, Cyclops etc. Which kind of defeats the point of the 'First Class' bit in the title :D

Im glad they merged Magneto and First Class... but then its a pity the magneto script (by whoever it was) never got lived out...
it will be like Spider-man 4 or a Batman and Robin sequel that we wonder if it would have been any good at all

From what Singer has said I wouldn't be surprised if the film goes jumps through many time periods before settling on the start of the First Class. Kind of like X-Men Origins Wolverine done right.

I want to see him do all of these movies. I'd love to see him do X4 and bring everything wrong from X3 back to where it should be without completely disregarding the movie.
As for First Class and Wolverine 2... how cool would that be if he did both of them to somehow tie into each other without really crossing paths too much? Kind of like two different sides to the same story or something, with both movies kind of leading into X1.

If he does First Class, we will have a good X-men trilogy
FC, X1, and X2
Then mayb he'll do Wolverine 2 and 3

..Singer doing any version of an X4 is just too good to be true. I will NOT be getting my hopes up, not like last time...not like X3. *shudders*

I hope it will just go back to the good-old magneto villain

I only want X-4 if Singer is back, they re-do the Pheonix saga with the Hellfire Club, they find a way to bring back Cyke, and they get the cast back... not going to happen... I know.

Shouldn't they focus some other villains instead of using Magneto, it seems like William Stryker and Magneto are only major villains in the X-Men movie universe.

Mr sinister for First Class yea....
but if they do X4, i would assume Magneto is back, because of that little tease at the end of X3 but whatever

I really doubt that they are going to completely retcon X3 if Singer does X4. They won't have Jean back as Phoenix and they won't redo the cure plot. However, I could totally see them doing the legacy virus and maybe even have a Sinister subplot and we can see Cyclops again.

Singer's X4 needs to tie up all his loose ends from X2 that X3 completely left out. As others have said, we need Nightcrawler back to properly end his story. Then, Singer can end the arcs of other characters that were destroyed in X3, like Rogue. Magneto needs to take a back seat to a new villain, maybe Sinister and Apocalypse. I would love to see the Four Horsemen.

As for Wolverine 2, Japan of course, but I also would like to see Omega Red to increase the threat.

First Class, I really have no idea where he is going to go with it but seeing his name attached to an X-Men movie gives me hope that he will bring this franchise back up from the ashes. I want to be excited to see an X-Men movie again. I am tired of knowing that it is going to suck.

So many things to do... only one director!

Obviously, he won't direct them all, and I think the one out of the three that he definitely won't do is Wolverine 2. Honestly, they should scrap First Class and go into an X-Men 4, but like others have stated, doing so brings in a lot of baggage that he may not want to deal with. Either way, as long as Singer is doing an X-Men movie I can finally look forward to one again.

Even if they can't get Singer on all of the films as director, I think they should try to get him as a producer or give him whatever role Nolan has for the new Superman film.

I don't think we can rely on Singer like this forever. We need to find an heir apparent that can do as good a job. He needs to start grooming somebody.

And I agree with Chaseter, I won't see the next trilogy unless they continue with the established characters like Cyke and Rogue, rather than a team of young mutants led by Bobby and Kitty Pryde. And if Omega Red ain't in Wolverine 2 I probably won't even see a bootleg.

I'm sure there are other capable directors who could handle Wolverine 2, and even X-Men 4. It's just that all other directors Fox have tried have failed to live up to what Singer did. With Singer everyone knows we're going to get a good movie, he hasn't made a bad movie in his life (Superman and Valkyrie had some issues, but they weren't bad movies).

I also like how Singer went to them with a treatment and Fox went with it. I'm sure Fox will have some input, but they won't be able to push Singer around like they did with Gavin Hood, and they won't be providing Singer with a list of things they need to work into the story (X3).

Fox just need to find someone who A) Isn't best known for a comedy franchise, and B) has handled a big budget movie before.

Yeah, ideally, if he did X-Men 4, just have Jean Grey resurrecting herself and taking on the full blown flame motif Phoenix, have her resurrect Scott as well, from whatever state she left him in.
Have her struggle with her god-like powers, bring in the Hellfire club, and make it that X3 was just a presursor for the real DP story.
If I was him, that's exactly what I would do.

Prof X will be back in the form of his brain dead twin's body, have Magneto's powers return, and Rogues, and give Rogue permanent superpowers somehow, maybe linking it in with her powers coming back unawares.

I would bet a million bucks that he will not redo the Phoenix story line and Fox would be against it.

That is why I think he should work as producer or as whatever role Nolan has on the Superman films. That way all the upcoming X-Films will have the Singer brand on it and it will give him a chance to guide some potential new directors for the franchise.

If Singer wants to do it then Fox won't stop him I bet. They just care about their paychecks and if Singer is willing to do an X4 then they'll probably go along with it.

I disagree. I don't think Fox would greenlight a script that is X3.1

Also, I don't think Singer is a big enough ass to basically nullify everyone's work on the previous movie.

It wouldn't be X3.1. X3 had Phoenix as a subplot. At it's core, X3 was an X-Men vs Magneto story. If Phoenix were to do a reworking of his original Phoenix concept that Singer wanted then it feature a way more sci-fi story, focus more on character, and it would even have new villains in the Hellfire Club. The only thing that would be the same is that they both have Jean returning and calling herself Pheonix, but her character would be completely different and so would be the ultimate goal of the film in regards to her character.

And seeing as everyone's work on the previous film is what's preventing the franchise from moving forward, he's going to have to nullify chunks of it to make a X4. Plus, X3 was made to close the door on the X-Men franchise, so X4 will need to open those doors again in many ways if they want to make this series to continue.

You guys, come on. They are not going to redo X-Men 3, or what people wanted X-Men 3 to be, in X-Men 4.
