Sequels Bryan Singer on the Future of the X-Men Franchise...and possibly an X-Men 4

To be honest I don't want Singer to direct an X4, because he originally planned to film X3/X4 back-2-back, so if Fox didn't screw him over we would have had X3 probably '05/'06 and X4 '06/07 and assuming he wanted 2 a break from those 2films we would have gotten the Wolverine film 2010, so now imo it seems as if Fox wants him to correct the wrongs they made, by hiring different directors/writers even though the last 2 films made bank, they are the most underrated by us fan boys'/girls'

IMO I think X4 would be a mess, because it'll be Singer fixing the messess of X3 and that's to much to do, I don't want to see Rogue get her powers back, after being cured, and people still complain because she doesn't have her Ms.Marvel powers!!! X3 was not his story and to go off what someone else wrote and the finish outcome would be hard for him...

A lot of you want a reboot, but I feel like First Class is a reboot, we're getting the same characters w/different actors, a new story and its a chance to intro.:new villians, Sentinels w/Henry Gyrich, Sen.Kelly b4 their deaths, Genosha, new team members(hopefully Emma,Gambit,Banshee), Jean's "phoenix" persona explained more i.e death of her bff Annie, the chance to see how Scott/Jean's relationship started, a background for Storm, & kick ass Brotherhood...this film may not follow X3, but its giving us fans the chance to see what we didn't see throughout X1-X3

So I say let Singer do what he wants to do, and if this becomes a trilogy then hopefully he can right the wrongs of his 2 films and X3 and gives us the X-Men we know from the comics and the 1st season of X-Men:tas

I doubt either that or the Daredevil reboot are going to happen. :o
I truly hope so. Marvel gets the rights back.

Bryan Singer should make an X-men movie called X3: X-men [someting]
it goes with X2: Xmen United
X2: X-Men United was only a promotional marketing title. Singer had nothing do with it. X2 is the title of the sequel.

I believe in the X2 commentary Singer said he gave the okay to the full title, and gave his reasoning.

Rumor of the Day: Bryan Singer hopes to direct another X-Men film
Nathalie Caron said:
With X-Men and X2, Bryan Singer proved that great superhero movies were possible. But then the director left the franchise forSuperman Returns and was replaced by Brett Ratner for the third X-film, which many felt contributed to that film's mediocrity. Now Singer hopes to return to the franchise—and direct another X-movie once again.

At least that's what Singer seemed to hint at it in an L.A. Times article. The comments below are not Singer's own direct quotes but are attributed to him:
Now he's returning as a producer for this ''X-Men" installment and still hopes to direct another X-movie in the near future. He praised Vaughn's vision and attention to detail and said the problems the production is now facing are merely intriguing challenges that will be overcome.
Let's pause for a moment here.

So Singer is hoping to direct another X-Men film?

Thing is, "if" X-Men: First Class is successful, Fox will likely choose to keep Matthew Vaughn on as director for the inevitable sequel rather than give the director's job back to Singer. (Why mess with success, right?)

But "if" Bryan Singer does indeed manage to make a return in the director's chair, would he be directing one of the sequels to that film, or would he be directing a whole new X-Men 4? Could Fox possibly decide to have both at the same time? That would be an unlikely scenario.

Considering the poor reception of X-Men: The Last Stand , would Fox even want a follow-up? (Sure, they would have Wolverine back, but actor Hugh Jackman has his own franchise now.) That's why they went with X-Men: First Class—a prequel—in the first place.

On the other hand, if First Class flops, the studio may turn its eyes again to a potential follow-up to the original franchise. Perhaps with Singer back in the director's chair.

In the end we'll have to wait and see what happens after X-Men: First Class hits theaters on June 3, 2011.

My heart wants X4.

But if First Class is great, I will want First Class 2 with Scott, Jean, Ororo and Beast.

but Ill want X4 too! :csad:

My feelings may change of course, but I would MUCH rather the franchise continue with X4 over FC2. I'm looking forward to First Class, but I don't need it to be a franchise. The better characters are in the original run.

I agree with this. Even though it would cost the studio alot more to do an X4, I'd prefer that over another prequel. Oh well, we'll see.

X4 could be so so big....

with the whole cast and a more serious/dark/epic script directed by Singer.... W O W.

Ill be so happy...

I'm sure if they were to do it sometime soon, Rogue would be a major character now with Paquin's status from True Blood. Same goes for Ben Foster who's pretty established now. My guess is they'd be the leads.

The problem if they're doing a X4 is getting the whole cast from the trilogy together again, I can't see that being possible seeing most of them have moved on and such, I guess the best way is to have a mix between new and old cast members.

It's very doudtfull because of budget reasons they could get the entire cast together for another film. And with strong likelyhood The Last Stand Is being Ignored by First Class
this means a Bryan Singer directed sequel would Ignore what happened In The Last Stand.Fox has to keep making films to keep the rights so a X-Men Sequel and First Class
trilogy being made Is possible.Days of Future past would be great starting point for sequel like God Loves Man Kills was starting point for X2.If Hugh Jackman plays wolverine againa fter the Wolverine It will likely be for a X-Men sequel. It really shouldn't be called x4 since The Last Stand along with Wolverine seems to be ignored In official film contunity.

They haven't ignored either one of those films and I don't think they're going to. As much as people disliked The Last Stand, I don't see any of the producers or actors agreeing to participate in a sequel that ignores a film they worked on.

With The Wolverine they're simply able to ignore Origins, not remake it :cwink:

First seems to be Ignoring The last Stand.Xavier and magneto were seen working together at begining of The Last Stand and Xavier was still walking yet by all accounts the crippling of Xavier and the falling out between him and Magneto happen In First Class In the 1960's.You also have problem of Rose Bryne as Moira Mactaggert In First class and Olivia Williams as Moira In the Last Stand.

I had written this in another thread:

The same way First Class is avoiding a brief appearance by Emma in Origins, it might be avoiding the brief opening from The Last Stand, but we don't know that yet. McAvoy might end the movie on his feet and the falling out in First Class might just be temporary. They might reconcile over some '86 Armagnac cognac leading to their joint effort to recruit new students again.

As for the Moira thing, then yeah, they're definitely avoiding her 2 minutes of screentime in The Last Stand, no fuss.

They're basically avoiding characters that had 2 lines in the previous movies, not the movies themselves.

Getting the old cast to come back would cost as much as First Class and Origins did.

Exactly which is why they should have a new cast but then the question is should replace the characters or portray new characters? If it's the latter then it's rather better off to do a reboot. There's a few possibility and I'm curious to see where Fox will take the X-Men brand next.

that would be my dream!!

but with Gambit on a good role too, and Nightcrawler coming back.

4 really great characters to lead the sequel.

I wouldn't think X4 would cost too much. Maybe about the same as X3 did. Because originally, wasn't X3 supposed to cost about $150 million, but ended up costing $210 million for some reason.

The team would probably be Wolverine, Storm, Cyclops (we didn't see him die; and in the movies and comics, if we don't actually see them die, it didn't happen), Colossus, Iceman, Kitty. The actors playing Iceman, Colossus and Kitty wouldn't cost too much (maybe Ellen Page would, but I don't know).

So that's a pretty awesome "core" team. Then we could have our traditional X-Men "guest star."

They may be able to get by without Mystique and Magneto. But Prof. X is definitely needed.

Days of Future Past set before X3 (and after of course) where they have to stop some key events that lead to the Sentinels, including the development of the cure.

It wouldn't un-do X3, but the future would be changed and you could veer around it. Cyclops and Xavier could return with no stupid explanations and everybody's happy.

The film on its own would run about 150 but the cast would add another hundred mil to the equation. Paquin's famous now, Halle Berry is Halle Berry, Ellen Page is post-Juno now, Patrick Stewart would at least ask for 10 million...

and about the Cyclops thing, it just wouldn't make any sense. Even Schumacher's Batman movies didn't resurrect characters from the previous regime. I've heard so many good ones too, "Cyke gets cloned by Sinister", "Cyke comes back from another dimension", "Cyke was unconscious for 10 years at Alkali lake"...:woot:

i just don't see how they could make x-men 4 unless they bring back the prossfer he was inthe body at the end in x3 so i gus they could bring the prossfer back. not surre how they could bring back cyclops or jean. they should just make asqueal to x-men first classi if it does good. maybe make pre squeal like the star war moive was.

the only problem I see for X4 is the budget. Im not sure if Fox wants to spend a big budget again....

But if Fox finds a way to get it, X4 can be made, the same way X3 was made.

But this time, under the direction and control of Bryan, of course, so a less rushed production.

:)

Synger should go back to the idea of making x-men 3 and 4 together, 3 would have his original ideas with the phoenix saga and the white queen, what he's doing with first class actually seems a back story to what he envisioned x-3 to be like. 4 should have the big fight that TLS tried to have, but besides magneto they should use another cool villain.
