I had seen these pictures when Slim posted them, and I thought the same thing: "THAT is how Storm should look like". Very impressive.

But no, as we all know. Go figure.

Sickening isn't it. :o

That looks so much more REAL than that thing they had for X1's final look. The hairline is near perfect and it looks like the hair actually GROWING from his scalp (au naturel). The bangs they gave her made the thing LOOK like a wig--something just plopped down on her head. :down

'Tis stoopid.

I think she looks like a zombie on these pictures... Any second now she'll bare her teeth and bite your neck... ;P

Having some tough nights, my dear Hotaru?

Seeing zombies everywhere?

I know what it is like: too much George Romero. :ghost:

Where's HexualCirce?

I have a question about wigs again: Obviously the one shown above is somehow used to cover her scalp as we cannot see any of her natural hair. Yet, the hairline looks natural, as if actual white hair folicles are growing from her hairline. I notice that Wolverine and Jean also have similar "hairlines".

How is that accomplished? Do they use make-up and prothetics to merge the fake forehead with the real one?

It's ridiculous that they didn't go with that look in X1, or even X2. That's as real-looking, as it can get

I think they use an air-brush type thing to change Halle's roots to looking white, and it just washes out when she's finished....I think. I'm not a hair designer :p

You know...maybe they couldn't get the hairline to stick when the wind was blowing in her hair. As we could tell in X2, they accomplished this greatly (X jet going down)...maybe they'll bring back that prototype?

People are complaining about the eyes? That's a character trademark. Granted I would prefer they just CG out her pupils instead of using contacts, but you know.

Actually, that is a relatively realistic look. I see nothing wrong with that at all in fact.

I like the hair a lot. It's too bad they opted for the other look.

*bad FOX...bad FOX*
I doubt that was FOX's faut, I think it was Singer's or the make up people.. or whatver.

Can i get a head count of people who would rather have this longer hair or the "shorter than X2" haircut described on movies.com blurb of X3
Personally i want her to look like the romantic storm goddess she is instead of the soccermom look in X2....
can i get a what-whaaaat?

Whut-whut!! :o:up:

The X2 hair was totally Hollywood/TV Land, not Storm in any way, shape or form.

LOL

Alright this is how it's done. The wig's "scalp" is made of a thin piece of lace that each hair is threaded through individually. Now that piece of lace comes down a bout one or two inches below the hairline on the forhead so it looks like the hair is growing out os the scalp. But the lace is so thin that it looks almost invisible. The lace used in movie wigs is so thin that it can come undone easily and has to be taken care of very well, while broadway wigs (because they are seen from so far away, can get away with using less fragile material. Let me try looking for some pictures to show you what I mean and I will post them as soon as I can.

Here are a couple of pictures of the wigs I had mentioned earlier in one of my posts. These two are of Vanessa Williams (they're not very close but you can get the idea:

and

woods9_1_.jpg

And here's a good one of the main charecter from the show Wicked:

broadwayIdinaNoGoodDeed.jpg

Those are all wigs. None of the actress's real hair is seen. This is so you can get an idea of the different styles that can be made to look quite real.

Now this is the lace that I'm talking about and also what the wig looks like before they thread the hair in:

and this is a close up of the added hair and the lace:

I hope this answers yer questions and if you've got any more please ask!

In the middle of '90s, Vanessa Williams was my first choice as Storm.

Right...but wrong...

Lightning is not part of the magnetic spectrum. Bad science!

Electricity and magnetism are related, one does not normally exist without the other. Moving electricity creates magnetism, and moving magnetism (like in Magneto's mutation machine where his magnetism was whirled around him by the rings) creates electricity. The two natural forces are often combined and known as 'electromagnetism'.

Magneto's magnetism is at least partly created by the super-enhanced electrical flow within his nervous system (according to a comic in which Moira MacTaggert explained his powers), so he could therefore absorb electricity (such as lightning) and use it to boost his magnetism. Similarly, his magnetism creates electricity.

In the comics he did once draw down lightning (by warping magnetic fields within a storm that Storm had created) and absorbed the energy of the lightning. He passed the lightning through Storm first, catching her off-guard and she was being destroyed until Nightcrawler teleported her out of the way. In the cartoon, Magneto (on his first appearance) absorbed the lightning that Storm threw at him.

Interestingly, Storm once attacked him with a blizzard but held back from trying to kill him, giving him chance to strike back at her - he said the extreme cold enhanced his magnetic powers and turned him into a superconductor, and he zapped her with a power blast.

Both of them have fairly similar powers in that they generate natural electricity - Magneto uses the magnetism that it creates to control metal; Storm uses the electricity itself to alter the weather. Both have additional boosters - Storm draws energy from the earth as she could not herself create the energy needed for huge weather changes and Magneto also has massive amounts of iron in his body to boost his magnetism.

Simply they are related without getting in technical detail.

STORM HAIR DESCRIPTION

Then i asked about Halle's hair. This was his reply:

Quote:
Halle's wig is a little more cut shot this time 'round. Still brite white, but it continues to get shorter as these Xmen movies progress. When I saw her, it wasn't in any special hairstyle, just more natural looking. It's hard to explain, because it really doesn't look that special. One thing though, it was very round. She looks great in it.

Anyway, that's all I can think of. Hope it's enough!

so dissapointing... :o never was a fan of the short haired storm, hopefully it wont be quite that short. maybe like a little longer than her chin or something, ANYTHING but the short short bob cut. :down

What I'm thinking COULD happen is that she has the long hair in the begining and most of the movie but then comes out in the end (during the funerals) with the short hair. Could be. I actually like that idea. Most likey won't happen though.

Heh, so I'm guessing her hair is looking more like Jean's in X2 and more like this:

Storm_shorthair.jpg

The flashbacks in the film may harken back to the X2 days when she had her hair a certain length and then the present day has it shorter.

We'll have to see how it all plays out.

I think her hair will turn out ok. yes, it's not long and flowing for the wind blowing in it to work, but I think it'll still look good.

I'm gonna be really pi$$ed if they're just re-using the uniforms from X2 though. Cheap-o's. We have a new costume designer...I'd hope she would put her mark on things and change em up a bit more.

I highly doubt they will get the uniforms from 3 years ago out of the bin and use them.
