The Dark Knight Caine: "Heath frightened the life out of me"

Or it could be that The Joker comes accompanied by dwarves AND goons.

I don't see how its "reading too much into it", to see Caine say, "The Joker enters with seven dwarves," and assume that they are actually dwarves. I have nothing against the presence of dwarves. No offense to the vertically challenged, but some of them are damn creepy. Remember "Don't Look Now"?

Possible? Sure, anythings possible. Its possible Jennifer Aniston could sit on my face for 2 hours tomorrow.

Likely? I don't think so, not from the pic I saw. I also don't think Jennifer Aniston will sit on my face either (much to my disappointment).

Ya, I don't see why people feel that Dwarves bullying rich socialites is such an out there idea. I mean we haven't even seen all the goons and some of them might be short tall or even incredibly fat.

Still you have to consider it a possibility and the fact Caine said it can not be ignored.

Aren't there reports of people crashing in through the skylights? Maybe The Joker and the dwarves enter through the elevator, and the thugs crash in through the windows?

And I'm absolutely serious. Evil dwarves running around laughing woudl scare the crap outta me. I imagine the kids will be having nightmares. :woot:

LOL no lies, I would crap my pants too.

But I don't think Joker crashes windows, it's Batman. I think I remember set reports saying Batman crashes is own party after the Joker shows up.

'BUT' we have pictures. I can't post em but you know what I'm talking about. The dudes holding either Batman or an effigey in the party, and Joker kicking him. Those guys are not short. And they have dwarf like masks on.

like I said before I have the pictures also and just because we saw some of them doesn't mean all of them have to look like that. I mean if you had a crew consisting of varying sized people, which one of you guys could hold Batman while Joker kicks him?

Also dwarves are sneak and they might get scared by the bat and run away

But what I mean is the masks, are exactaly the same from the Bank Robbery, and the script refers to them as Grumpy and I forget the other one. To me I think some people are reading into this too much, that happens though when we have no news. But I'm not saying it's impossible that, that will happen, but unlikley. From screen shots we have and the Sides, to me it just does not fit.

The way I see it is that we have literally not enough evidence to say it won't happen. There are very few pictures of this scene so the possibility is definitly there. I could see Joker with a whole ensemble of goons within the carnival motif and when batman comes the cowardly ones scatter because "its the batman"
Joker might get mad punt a dwarf then call grumpy to hold batman down.

Gary Oldman naked would scare me.

Makes me want to go back and read TKJ again.

Yea I'm not saying it won't happen, I just don't see it. It might, but to me it just does not seem to be Nolan's style. More of Burton's. But let's see. Come on WB we need a trailer STAT!!

Joker could kick a midget in the knee, or cut the legs off a midget and say something like "There goes your hope of ever riding a rollercoaster"

Here's another perspective on Caine's fascination with Ledger. Perhaps he has a vested interest in the character? Look way back to this article from 2006:

http://www.mtv.com/movies/news/articles/1543350/20061017/story.jhtml

An interesting read, you should check out the whole thing, but here is the most relevant section:

"Several roles in the upcoming film still need to be cast, but this much is known: Bale, Caine and Gary Oldman are set to return; Nolan will bring ill-fated District Attorney Harvey Dent into the "Knight" mix; and Ledger will indeed bring his unsettling smile to the role of comicdom's killer clown. And apparently, everyone already has words of advice for Nolan and Ledger on how they should fill the enormous, floppy shoes of 1989 Joker Jack Nicholson.

"I spoke to [Nolan] about it and said, 'This is how I think the Joker should be,' " Caine remembered. "I said a certain thing about how it should be done, and he says, 'I've got a better way than that one.' And I went, 'Whoa,' because my way was good — my way was really good. Because, I mean, you have got to top Jack — and not a lot of people can top Jack." "

Yea it's pretty easy to see that Ledger was the perfect choice for the Joker. Just one that a lot never imagined as him.

Like I've said before how many times I have told friends who is playing the Joker, they are surprised at first, then they think about it and go, yea I could see that. Then when I show them the pictures of him, and the teaser, most are fully convinced that Heath is the Joker.

same here, everyone i tell at first are like really, then they think and they think the smile and they are like yeah i can see that, then i show them the pictures and most are disturbed at first and then are like wow that is going to be badass, then there is the voice from the trailer and that is what actually gets them all hyped up.

This guy summed it up best.

I'm assuming he just meant "normal" sized henchmen with different masks on that each have their own expression. Sleepy, happy, dopey, sneezy....you get the picture.

yes indeed. same thing here. and i never thought about him, but when the casting was announced it immediately clicked with me, even though he was the last person i would have imagined

^Same as above. Pre-casting, I never would have thought of Heath for the Joker. As soon as I read it I had an instant of "What?" and then it all just made sense. He's going to be great...'course I'm not sure HOW he's going to manage to match/surpass my expectations, but I have absolute faith in him.

On to the next topic...

I can totally imagine Joker recruiting, not just dwarfs, necessarily, but a myriad of circus freaks, a la The Killing Joke, as henchmen. And that would be truly disturbing...
:wow: :wow: :wow:

I clearly think Caine was just referring to them as Dwarves or whatever in a joking manner since in the sides/script they were given those "codenames". Basically, in short since he might not know wether they are mobsters or just street thugs he refered to them as in the sides. Which until that point is all he knew of them since he said he hadn't seen anything with the Joker or his men until filming that scene.

Good lord, we're talking about dwarves. I don't care if they're in the movie or not... we need something new right now. Badly.

I hear ya man! In that last post of mine I was just trying to put an end to the ridiculous debate were people actually think Nolan would have the Joker's thugs be actual Dwarves. The idea is preposterous(sp?), how would that be threatening. Batman, let alone the guests at the party could just drop kick them out the windows.

No man. We're talking about evil minion dwarves who bite your ankles. Just imagine some pale dwarves with red eyes attacking Rachel dragging her off into the Joker's lair while she screams.

The only reason you people are against the idea is because you're scared of dwarves.

dude dwarves would be awesome, and when joker is mad he could punt one of them.

I bet you twenty bucks right here and now that will not happen. That is corn ball Michael Bay comedy that Nolan would not touch with a 500 foot pole. One thing I love about Nolan, he uses comedy in the right context and right time.

I mean the punt kicking, not the dwaves who knows if that will happen or not.

You're crazy. Joker always punk kicks dwarves. He'll probably play soccer with a few of them too.

I'll accept your offer.
