Days of Future Past Caleb Landry Jones cast as Banshee

Me too. I like the effort their putting into making the characters more similar to their comic book counterparts.

im bummed that they didnt make him Irish too :(

that was one of his original selling points...lol

a pipe, giant divot in his top lip, and his being mind controlled lol.

"BEDLAM IS THE BANSHEE"

Banshee and Beast are the characters im looking foward to the most

You're excited for yourself?

the Irish thing isn't make or break for me

Found this clip of Caleb acting in The Last Exorcism. No bad language.

I just don't see many excuses for deciding to adapt characters into Americans. These movies come to other countries other than America, so why change all the characters just to appeal to americans??? As for the actor not having enough time to learn to do the accent, why not then just hire an actor who CAN ALREADY do the accent? It just ticks me off that we have an Aussie playing Wolverine, who is required to do an accent, cause if Wolverine showed up speaking like an Aussie, people would all be like WTF??? But then for other characters its just like "eh whatever they all work better as americans." ... MEh. Disagreed.

Agreed. I'm also a fan of Harry Potter and I thank god that JK held on to creative control. I shutter to think what changes that American studios would've made to Harry AND THE REST OF THE KIDS.

I'm not gonna get to up in arms over this cause the guy can still be Irish but this is Marvel's fault for not retraining some amount of creativity when they ****ed the rites out to FOX. It's the main reason the Xmen are all over the place and terriable changes like Havoc being the father to Scott or Shaw's mutant power being changed.

does it really matter you dont have to sound Irish to be Irish

For example mila kunis is Russian

she speaks American completely fine but she is still Russian and does'nt need to speak it(even tho she knows it) to show that she is Russian.

To date, I don't think Mila Kunis has played a RUSSIAN character. Of course she's going to sound American when she's playing one. Cast her as a Russian and I'll bet she'll speak to sound as such.

There aren't alot of Irish superheroes (Irish born not of Irish descent) or atlest not well known ones so you can understand why Succumbtofear and some X-fans who don't like nationality changes are upset. Its not too unreasonable.

Micheal Fassbender is Irish and Caleb could of copied his accent or got him to coach him on an Irish accent if they wanted too.

Personally I can see where posters are coming from although I don't mind that much myself

Fassbender is Irish? Are you sure about that? Could've sworn the guy was or is German

Yeah she has. In that Max Payne movie with Mark Wahlberg. Could be wrong but I doubt I am.

His father is german and his mother is irish. He was born in Germany and raised in Ireland if you look at any of his interviews his natural accent is Irish.

He does English accents really well too as he has lived in London since he was 19

Ah, I haven't seen MP. So, I can't say much about that. I have read that she does play "A Russian Assassin" but do not know how she speaks in the role.

"I said “look man, you’ve got to take the green down. I’m Irish! I can’t go back to Ireland, they’ll kill me.” - Michael Fassbender,

^ Exactly.

If the actor can blow me away as an American version of the character, then I'll shut up. But until then, nothing else will ease my discomfort in seeing a character I've grown up with being converted into a yank.

I just think it's unfair and a tad bit silly that, if an actor has an natural accent, they are expected to ditch it to play a character (Like McAvoy a Scot, obviously not going to be showing up making Xavier sound Scottish) But if a bunch of actors are Americans, expected to be playing non-American characters, then they're told just not to worry about trying to do their proper accents.

I leaped with joy when I heard Nightcrawler speaking in German. I was so happy Alan Cumming, another Scot, was at least able to prevent Nightcrawler from sounding American. It adds so much to the characters. 95% of all these characters are American, and none of them appeal to me because of it. It's just so basic, I guess. Having a character with an accent in a vast American-speaking majority always adds something to it for me.

I'm in love with the Banshee wings!

I hope he wears it at the end of the movie.

Pretty sure i read somehwhere that Kunis is not Russian but Ukranian or another Eastern European country but i dont think its Russia.

Have we learned nothing from Inglourious Basterds? :oldrazz:
