Maybe in Marvel Cineverse, the term 'Avenger' is interchangeably used with 'superhero'. Hence Cap being Marvel History's 'First Avenger'.
.....I dunno, he avenges Justice.
But decent tagline, 'cause it's putting the Avengers (in some form) name in the GA's consciousness.

Yeah, because the Nazis and Hydra haven't done anything that needs to be avenged. :p

There's plenty to be avenged during wartime. Don't get people that ask that silly question.

"The good soldier does not avenge, he does the work he needs to do; hatred clouds your mind".

Said the venerable Sun Tzu. Or Yoda, I'm not quite sure.

Man with a Red Skull for a head = Believable
Man with the 616 Suit = Not Believable

LOL ..... this argument is hilarious, it really is. Ripe with the purest of hypocrisy. It's like your Spidey argument ..... Audience will somehow buy into a man shooting webs from his freaking hands, but they will be thrown off by where his suit comes from? Didn't realize the GA was such a selective skeptic like that.

Exactly. The GA is not going to care. Period. Isn't that why we go to these types of movies? We go to be entertained and suspend our disbelief. If I wanted to see a realistic war movie, I'd watch Saving Private Ryan.

Also it's a clear tie in with The Avengers, since they said they've already begun the promotional build up for that movie.

exactly. captain america shouldnt avenge....

i wish the avengers is an undertone for this movie. Cap has been long overdue for his own movie. not a movie to build up another movie....

I'm expecting something that's a medium between the level of Shield/Avenger references of Iron Man 1 and 2. Not that I thought 2's level was all that invasive as Fury and Black Widow still managed to serve the story more than push the Avengers.

this is true but this movie is called "Captain America: The First Avenger" and it has "Avenge" written as the tagline. So I'm thinking theres going to be ALOT more references.....i really hope not tho

I'm in no rush to see the trailer, I'll be watching the game anyways and I'm more excited for that.

Considering that this movie takes place decades before the Avengers team even starts to come together, I don't anticipate a lot of references until the end, pre- or post-credits.

I get the"red skull-realistic"/"costume-unrealistic"illogical debate!,But IF a whole movie was 100%accurate to a comic-book.....the GA would not be attracted much,IF that happens then the GA will feel screwed&leave and so us fans get screwed cause comic-book films would be seen as a joke again and only thing close we would get would be TV movies&tv shows no matter how many angry fan boys&girls demand it!

I'd rather have comic-book movies this way(which could be much worse anyway)than no big movies at all!

your info is based on what????
There was a movie that was 100% based on the comics and the GA wasnt attracted to?

In this time&age you really think that a film like that could be successful with the way the GA is now??,why risk it anyway??

Maybe it worked for Watchmen,But Superman/Batman/Spiderman or whoever else being 100% like the comics could be a major disaster with the GA!

Superman 1-4 weren't any more comic accurate than any other comic book movie released today. If you want an example of a movie which was exactly like the comic book, see 300, which the public loved.

you talking about Superman1-4!?,in this time&age you really that a film like that could be successful with the way the GA is now??,IF Batman was 100%like the comics.....you really think it would be anywhere near the success of any of the movies??

why risk it anyway??

I was asking what movie was 100% faithful that failed because the GA couldnt get into it cause it was too like a comic.

The only thing in the Nolan movies that wasnt like the comics was the suit. Sure we could bring up the CR Superman movies and yet to this day several actors have portrayed Superman and yet thats the one the GA thinks of when they think of Superman(and how many thought his suit was stupid).
Hell the GA didnt have issues with the Spider-man suit and it was 99.99% comic accurate(i took a point off the the raised webbing...it didnt bother me but it did some people).
The GA doesnt care about costumes or powers. They want to be entertained. No Superhero movie failed because of the costume.

The GA doesnt care about the thread count on Spider-man's gloves or how real or unreal Batman's costume is...they want to be entertained.

The GA aren't idiots... Sure they want to be entertained, but they also want to be engaged, surprised and impressed. This means thinking out of the box with adaptations.

Technically films like G.I. Joe or Transformers are entertaining, but does that make them any good?

So we're implying the more accurate a movie is, the lower the quality?

I never claimed that the GA was stupid or idiots...just they dont care about costumes. Sorry I know we obsess about them 24/7 but they dont.
But its all relative because we applaud the GA when they flock to TDK or another movie we like but call them stupid or idiots when they give millions to Transformers.

you think they would not care IF Goblin&Doc Ock had looked 100% like there comic counterpart??,or IF Batman looked like he did in Batman serials or 60's show??.

I really doubt they would be a huge hit like they are now!,sequels would likely turn like B&R or worse!.

SuperHero movies would turn more like kiddie films like some cgi-toon stuff, than be big budget summer films like now.

yeah it could go either way!,maybe they could be a success But there's a strong chance it would all flop too.....why risk it??
