Here is a cool redesign by halfbreed art on DA

and here is my "traditionalized" version

I don't like this one at all.

I've read a bit of criticism of the above design by some on the hype, but I gotta say that it makes a lot of sense to me, strikes a fair compromise between 616 and Ultimate Cap - and I welcome it with open arms.

Agreed, that's why I like it so much.

Only thing I'd change in the scale-mail to chain-mail, simply because I'm a Zeck/Byrne 80's Cap kinda guy and I cant embrace change as well as I used to when I was younger. :hehe:

I can go either way in the scale-mail vs. chain-mail debate. It really don't matter that much to me either way.

What i got from JJ is Cap wears the USO costume then covers it up with standard olive fatigues to not be id'd when AWOL. Then his costume gets exposed and people realise he's the Captain America. This is when he realizes that he inspires the troops wearing red white n blue and modifies the Kirby look with an Ultimate WWII one I'm guessing.

Here's a larger pic of the WWII Captain America costume from Captain America: Reborn.

glad no one is actually apart of the project

Seriously. I don't think any thread has as many frighteningly bad costume suggestions as this one.

Why can't JJ just use this for the whole movie, instead of 2 or 3 diffrent costumes?

because nowadays its considered silly to have a superhero costume in a superhero movie

Apparently.
Much as I have defended the X-Men movie suits & Batman's movie suits, I wonder if we'd be having this debate if those hadn't happened.

well we are all just trying to figure out how things are going to go from what joe has stated to us in interviews. And we got there is the whole uso suit that is going to be based on the classic kirby look(probably be like tights/wrestler like suits of the day material look). Then the battlefield look which could end up being a cross between the kirby look and ultimates. Then for me i think once we get in the avengers film we will see the current/modern look supplied by stark/shield saying its like light weight body armor and yada yada.

There have been some really bad Cap costume suggestions. I wouldn't mind something like the Reborn costume, but it would HAVE to have wings that come off the helmet and a normal A on the forehead... I don't mind the rest.

Because we have to be ashamed of being superhero fans.

Superhero fans don't have to be ashamed. I think the problem is that movie companies don't believe that the general movie going audience can't suspend their belief for a couple of hours & feel they need to base the films in some sort of reality that can be explained (probably too many focus groups involved).
Fact is from the get go in movie making fantasy films have always been popular & movie goers love them. In recent years superhero films has been probably the most profitable genre. For me movie makers should keep to the source material and just tweek the costumes to make them visually good on screen, I think too many times directors just want to stamp their mark too much on the character. Jon Favreau got it right with Ironman & it was huge, other direcors should take note.
