Every forums deals with this, some more epic than others (Transformers/Batman).
I get that the idea of a captain america film is new but...don't let it get to you.

You should have seen the xmen 1 forums back in the day.

I don't know how he does things....but for me, when I'm on here and not doing something mod related....I click on NEW POSTS and see what threads are active, if I'm interested in one of the threads I go in and read some posts and then maybe make a reply or comment. I can't express how deeply sorry I am that at the time I decided to make my post expressing my opinion of Captain America's suit in the Captain America's suit thread, that happened to be a non negative post, that he had been making negatives ones and I somehow upset his rhythm or mojo by doing so.

:hehe:

I`m going to say it now because I know the same question is floating all over by thousands of people asking `Where is his shield?!!!`...Ummm, maybe he threw it? He is Captain America and he tends to throw it at bad guys sometimes ya know. Or maybe it got stuck in a wall? Asking where his shield is is funny to ask but I know theres definatley some very uptight fanboys out there that are going to have a b*tch fit about this

A dressing room photo of Wolvie's stunt double in costume leaked if I recall correctly; yeah, suffice to say it got a lot of heat.

I'd be lying if I said the thought hadnt entered my mind as well. I dunno, perhaps he hasnt quite mastered the art of rebounding yet? (one would assume that he learns this in training or something but perhaps he learns it 'in the field' instead).

If he's in a real hurry to... say... stop a rocket from takeoff or something he might abandon the shield in order to run faster?

These new pics of the Cap uniform are a complete disaster.

This is a flop to be compared, in the future, with the new ugliness of Spider Man.

We're watching the beginning of the end of superhero movies: they have reached the exact opposite of ridicule that the black outfits were ten years ago.

This is camp as hell.

The ideal measure found in the first Spider Man outfit , in Dark Knight and Iron Man is lost in the new Spidey horror and in this unfathomable übercampy Captain America.

I see what you're doing, turning the campy argument against these new, 'realistic' suits. It isn't working, however.

Actually, I didn't wonder where his shield was at all. I figured it was an action scene so the shiled was elsewhere due to the action.

Merc gets more melodramatic with every post. In a week he'll blame cancer and world hunger on this movie too.

He's clearly hurled it down the throat of some hapless Hydra minion. Hope they have a good dental plan!

...I don't think you know what camp means

To ME it looks like he's in a sub's engine room.

I'm really happy that you wrote "realistic" in a *** grano salis way.

Because realistic, with or without inverted commas, has absolutely NAWTHING to do with those loose blue pajamas he's wearing during the war.

Comic book characters are never realistic: at least not the Stan Lee & Jack Kirby inventions.

But the movies have discovered how to render their iconic costumes in a faithful and smart way (Iron Man and Spider Man in Raimi times); that's not the case of the two last attempts, that will bury comic book movies.

When X-Men were actually men in black it was the other extreme: directors and team were too careless about the costumes, it was the ah-ham :whatever: "spirit" of the whole thing that was important to grasp.

Now, colourful Captain America has got such a pathetic loose design, such a poor mask (semi-helmet), that is quite embarassing.

You laugh at the recent Cap incarnations (and they are indeed laughable); people will laugh at the present monstrosity just like that.

Wait and see, Jak Jak. :cwink:

Whatever it is, it isn't missles (you can tell by the curve of the tubing on the bottom one)....

to say the least.
Every Adaptation deals with this and it's only after the movie(obviously) that it starts to sit right with people. Spider man being the greatest example of that.

I like the posing, very mid century comic book:yay:

Those damn shoulders are going to be the death of me.
Nice to finally see the boots...they're going with the everything is designed in this universe feel I see.

You know, cryptic, this sentence of yours has just ricocheted back to ya. :oldrazz:

How so?

I'm not trying to say you should like the suits, both the new spidey and cap outfits seem pretty divisive, but camp is a pretty specific thing that I don't think either of them achieve.

are you sure, this is Hydra/Johnson/Marvel Studios tech we're talking about here.

I agree with you only to a certain extent. Realism in comic book movies works in some ways but not in others. Nolan's Batman suits are horrible.

But in this case, only certain details bug me but overall I like the suit, because they took the design and justified certain elements that could be seen as 'campy' by applying 'realism' to them, rather than replace them with something else, like the Nolan suits and the X-Men suits.

The correct word, however, isn't realism, it's believability. Because when you get into detail, demanding a superhero be realistic is silly.
