Some people are going to like the suits and others wont....regardless of how accurate a suit is or functional. Yeah this suits going to look awesome while moving. Also I think in that picture he's actually prepping a jump over the rail. One arm is on the rail and the other is in its direction. I doubt captain america needs to keep his balance while running at full speed. Also his foot is tilted toward the rail as well. He may be lit differently because of this upcoming movement.

Yeah it sorta doesn't look like Evans but then.......he is wearing a mask covering most of his face in a facial expression in the process of changing.

is any costume thread a nice place to be?

im waiting for the Spider-man on to turn

i think once we get a good look at it it will get heated...everyone is waiting on the mask

i'm just hoping we'll be able to go 5 pages without someone bringing up batman in here at some point

Is this the rocketship that flies over the arctic. Where Steve falls into the ocean and is frozen for several era's he is found and revived in the Avengers film ?

The suit looks better in action than I thought it would. It's Cap as far a I'm concerned.

I think it looks awesome except for those damn square shoulders.

The whole damm point being: EEEFF the mate is gonna walk around dressing blue and red regalia, why pretending otherwise with this crappy excuse of "soldier-like" realism - or whatever one may like to label it - to make him look silly in loose pajamas with this lunatic cap that stands for a mask, and those over-the-top shoulders?

Why the hell not just make it straightforward Captain America?

Both extremes in making superhero costumes for cinema are stupid: either making them boring to avoid dealing with the notorious difficulties of making them believable, or assuming there is this paranoid "reality" in which everything is half assed, thus translating the comic book costume into a monstrous hybrid of "reality" (whatever it means) and comic book.

Wanna do it? Do it right. :o

Don't embellish it with convoluted excuses afterwards. That should be the golden rule to avoid half assed stuff being made into movie.

Personally I'm waiting for the Superman suit reveal at the end of the year. The Superman board is going to be ripe for an implosive explosive device posting. I'm hoping the admins and mods kinda divide and start a message board civil war or some kind of crisis.

anyway

He looks big and I'm pretty sure I could take him in a fight. Aren't we all glad he doesn't have a motorcycle helmet?

then again that is an old school motorcycle helmet. At least not that huge sphere they you know call a globe.
Also looking at the concepts, the suit was supposed to have a covering for the neck. I wonder why they removed it

I just want a trailer. There's too much speculation on whether this is the initial costume or his ONLY costume. I would just like to see how it looks on film. Stills just aren't doing this project justice.

How can anyone hate the costume? I think it's the best of both worlds. You have the costume look soldiery, but it screams Captain America at the same time.

the shoulder pads seem unness....and im not a fan of the straps...the boots and gloves could be redder

I mean, it's recognizable as Captain America, but the quality of the outfit leaves something to be desired. Surely the government could do better for their propaganda sumbol.

I don't really think whether it looks like Captain America should even be an issue. I'm hard pressed to think of a comic book superhero who hasn't looked like themsleves in the last 20 years or so.

I'm not sure what his outfit is supposed to be, I guess armor in some fashion, but he looks like he's wearing stuffed fabric for armor, or a winter coat or something. I could do without the sculpted muscles in the white material below his chestpiece.

This is a World War II uniform.

Cap's suit only really looks anything like like a WWII soldier because of the straps, helmet, etc, and even they aren't necessarily tied to WWII. The rest of his suit looks like a soft padded material and striped "parachute" pants. I'd prefer something that looked heavier, and kind of expected it, actually.

I agree with this post. I wish Cap would've dressed like those WWII soldiers in the picture and just had some body armor over his uniform. I also want to add that I dislike the patterns all over the top. It reminds me of the TDK suit but at least Batman's suit was black and he spent so much time in the dark that the designs weren't particularly visible to me.

Luckily I'm not the kind of person who cares too much about costumes. It's just that this is the first thing I've seen from CA that I haven't liked.

IMO what we are seening so far looks just fine for the "40's version" of the Cap uniform/costume. My only concern is how the modern consume is going to turn out.

That is the end game piece of the character adaptation that they absolutely have/to/get/right.

This was also a top of the line, Howard Stark, design suit. Not what the common soldier would wear. Its a great mesh of all elements IMO.

I agree the shoulders don't look great but it could just be that shot.

We wont really know till we see it in true action and motion.

I agree I would like to see a modern outfit for Avengers. Shield/Stark would certainly design him a new one once he woke up.

Maybe we will see the streamlined, scale mail topped suit in Avengers. Might have sense to make him a lightweight, scale mail composite alloy body armor suit. Maybe even use vibranium or adamantium in it.

I drew these ages ago, thinking about what they were doing with the Bat-films, in terms of design

Again, if they kept the current design for the modern day suit, I'd be happy, 'cause I like the look.
