Captain Marvel Captain Marvel General Discussion and Speculation - Part 2

I think she can play cold and mysterious better than ScarJo, but it's too late now.

I haven't seen Yvonne in action, so I can't say, but is she really that charismatic of an actress?

I'm always skeptical when people focus primarily on the look when fancasting actresses.

It's not just about Yvonne's look though, although that helps of course. She does definitely ooze charm. And she's done plenty of action, particularly in Chuck where she played a kick-ass CIA spy. But she wasn't simply a hardened, tough spy but had a lot of vulnerability and humanity as well.

When I think of Blunt's abilities as an actress, I think of stuff like My Summer of Love, Edge of Tomorrow, Looper, Sicario, etc. And yeah, she's really good. Also several of those really sell her ability to play a badass action heroine as well.
See I haven't seen all of Blunt's work. I always want to but some stuff is hard to get a hold of. But I have seen her play a wide range of very different characters and often times she was so convincing that she was my favorite part in the movie.

My viewing experience with Blunt is limited to DWP, Sunshine Cleaning, Young Victoria, Adjustment Bureau, Looper, EOT, Into The Woods and Sicario. All of these very different characters.

I always want to check out some her earlier British stuff (Summer Of Love, Gideon's Daughter etc.) and always forget.

My Summer of Love was the first thing I saw Emily Blunt in, before she was really famous. It's a lesbian drama.

Sienna Miller she is another actress who I could see as a contender to play Carol and not only is she beautiful too in terms of looks but also looks wise she could pull off being Carol but at the same time she can act too but also she can play action roles just as well case in point GI Joe: Rise of Cobra

Charlize Theron however she is probably the best choice for Carol as far as acting range but also looks wise too but also she can pull off action roles too case in point Mad Max Fury Road

But also Yvonne Strahovski again she is probably the best fit for Carol because age-wise she is what Marvel and Disney would look for but also she can act case in point her roles in Chuck or in Dexter or in Mass Effect but also she is not as well known as the rest of the actresses on this poll which is actually a good thing because then with this Captain Marvel franchise she can essentially break out as a bigger star

I hate Sienna Miller a lot. I'd lose complete faith in Marvel if they cast a hack like her in this role.

Which is why I also talked about Theron and Strahovski in my last post if you read it even

Never heard of her (but that's not necessarily a bad thing).

Not exactly a reputable site, but who knows.

Eh, who knows if it's true, but she's exactly the type of director I'd expect MS to hire for this movie.

This is what someone posted in the comments on another site so make of it what you will.

A few months ago, Elizabeth Wood came down to our school to screen White Girl for us film students. One of my teachers went to Columbia Film School with her (that's why she came). It was the first screening after Sundance. She was super cool. She even brought up that Marvel had contacted her about a female super hero movie. I knew INSTANTLY what film she was talking about (as we all would have). A kid in the Q&A asked her if it was Captain Marvel and she said, "Yes, it was". I'm president of the film fraternity down here so we had lunch with her afterword and I had to ask her about if of course. She talked about how she was friends with Jihn Watts and she asked him about Spider-Man and the process of getting the job. She said that Marvel gave her a deadline to pitch them an idea and she was two weeks passed the deadline. I couldn't believe it. She said that she didn't want to just come up with something and not be inspired. Marvel had given her a lot of reading material, which she had on her iPad with her, and she said she was reading snippets here and there. Again, I was like blown away cause she was given the opportunity that I'm working towards and she wasn't just all on top of it. A few hours later, I was in an editing bay going over a film and she walked by the hallway with my teacher(the event was done by this time) and I told I stuck my head out the door and was like, "Hey!! You should direct Captain Marvel!" And she told me well, it's really not up to me. Not to backtrack but she talked about it wasn't really her type of film at the time, but was very open to it.

2 weeks over the deadline? I don't know if that's a good or bad thing. Bad in that she could always be behind schedule like Edgar Wright, or good in that she's way ahead of schedule compared to where he ever was. :o

Ahhh, CBM.com then
or are there other "Websites that shall not be named" here? lol

If true, surely they can find someone who's a little more interested than that.

Of the "unknown" directors we've heard rumored, Emily Carmichael seemed a much more promising prospect, imo.

Frankly, interest beforehand doesn't concern me so much as talent and a willingness to work hard.

In an interview with The Wrap, Joss Whedon said he'd like to direct an all female Avengers team movie someday.

I'm not sure how I feel about that, but the best part of the interview was when he talked about Captain Marvel(obviously)

"Kevin Feige fought a mighty fight to get her on the schedule. So it's a start," said Whedon. "You could say that should be a middle [for Hollywood], but it's a start."

I like this. This fills me with even greater confidence that Feige and co. will make her movie awesome. :)

Kind of sad that Feige has to fight at all to get a female solo movie off the ground.

Kevin Feige fought a mighty fight
A mighty fight, huh? Geez, I wonder who his opponent was. :o

[blackout]PERLMUTTER!!![/blackout] :cmad: lol

yeah no, it was much better than that one

InCali, where are you, was it you who posted the good Yvonne manip??
I know it wasn't that long ago but I can't seem to fin it on here....

I was in NY at a Yankees game and got back a few days ago. It wasn't me, but I'd be happy to go out and look at some pics of Yvonne. :hubba

You know she has dark eyebrows in real life?

And as far as I know, she's a natural blonde.

There are plenty of blondes who have dark eyebrows. They don't all have light ones, and even if they did, it makes their eyebrows not very noticeable at all, or makes them look too Arian.

And even this unaltered photo I've posted of Yvonne looks more like Carol than the manip above.

Oh dear god save me.....
